Just gave my diaper genie away because I didn’t like it. I used it until my baby was about 6 months old, and then I just couldn’t anymore. Not only was it one more “trash” to remember to empty, I found it easier and less smelly to just throw peed diapers into the kitchen trash and bag up the smelly diapers and put them in the can outside. I was having to spray the genie down with Lysol or wipe with Clorox wipes every time I emptied it, which for some reason was usually in the middle of the night. And as you said, they fill up quickly. My door on mine also never shut correctly, it was almost like it was warped. So not only was I cleaning it in the middle of the night, I was waking everyone up trying to get the door to shut. Lastly, my husband just never wanted to learn how to use the thing. I showed him probably 20 times, but if he changed our baby he’d either put the dirty diaper sitting on the lid of the genie or just leave them on the changing pad. Long story short, I completely agree with you. Lol.

We used on with our son 14 years ago. To combat any smell we used compostable doggy doo bags and put the dirty diapers in it while we changed his diaper. Then after we tied those we tossed the in the genie. We would pack that puppy full and it never ever smelled. Now we bought a new one for our elderly dog who has to wear diapers that we use liners with.
LOL I agree on every single thing you said. Our top lid hinge also has been busted ever since our son was like 3 months old.
My real question is how did you sit next to it while opening and closing it for this long 🤢🤣

Diaper Genie is fine it does what it’s supposed to do and keeps diaper smells odorless. It was pretty straight forward.
Suggestion. Use the new pail for your toddler since those will be stinkier. That way you can compare it to the current odors of the genie.
I had the Genie with my first and hated it. Trying Dekor this time and usually don't need it after the first year and a half so I'm hoping it's better for us. Keep us updated though.
Let me know how you end up liking the Dekor! I’ve heard great things about it!

We decided to go with the Ubi for our little guy because I’ve heard so many bad things about the diaper genie. I love the look of the Ubi as well.

How did the ubi work for you?
I still like it but after while the metal does hold a smell as well but I’ve been using the same one for 2.5 year now with 2 kids.
I hate the Ubbi diaper pail. It smells so bad. I would not recommend it at all. My daughter's room smells so bad I'm going to get rid of it and get something different for baby number two on the way.

It was okay for us in the beginning but if you want it for the long term I might look into exchanging it for something a little less stinky 😂❤️

I always have to open the window after opening the diaper geenie 😩 also, I’ve had it for 1.5 years and I never knew there was a blade! I always used scissors to cut the bag 😂😂

Honestly, you did something WRONG for it to be stinky..my son and daughter-in-law have never had a chronic problem..it's ONLY if something is stuck or the bag is ripped or you didn't knot it.
Let us know what do you think about ubbi diaper pail bcz... I ALSO HATE DIAPER GENIE... I wish i can replace it with less stinky brand
