Hi guys, thanks for stopping by my channel! I want to start by letting you know that I couldn't record myself in this video because the townhouse right next door is getting renovated and it was so loud I could barely hear myself think, let alone give instructions. So I hope my written instructions will suffice.
In today's tutorial we are making this cute drawstring bag, that looks almost like it is woven, or perhaps knitted. I just love these knots and hope you do too. The strap is made using a four strand braided technique, but if you prefer something different, please feel free to experiment and have some fun with this design.
**Please note, the swivel clasps I used are quite small, it was what I had on hand, you can use any size you choose.

MEASUREMENTS:
From top of strap to bottom of purse: 29in/73.5cm
BODY OF BAG:
Width: 10in/25.5cm
Length: 10in/25.5cm
The cord I used in this video is a 5mm braided cord in the colour Sand, here is a link:

HERE IS WHAT I USED:
2 swivel clasps .5in/1.25cm
2 x 36in/91cm
28 x 7ft/213cm
2 x 9ft/274cm
scrap piece for gathering knot.
TOTAL CORD USED: 221FEET/67METERS

I just finished my purse. I used a smaller mm braid which was fine..although its not as soft a bag to touch. I found these knots supa easy..onky occasionally had to check i hadnt started/finished new row in the wrong spot. Anyway..im def going to be making more. 🙂👍

love this video and the bag. This is my very first macrame bag. I tried making this bag 4 days ago on a whim, and it turns out I really liked the end result. I gave it to my cousin for her birthday, and she love it so much. All the instructions are very clear and can be done easily for the first timer like me😅. Thanks you so much, I’m glad you like the patterns:) As for size, yes, you can definitely make this smaller, coming up with this design I made about a dozen all different sizes, one was approximately half this size and I still use it to this day, it’s pretty darn cute! ♥️♥️

Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to make?
@@ChloeLouiseAmber i did it over two days, every day a couple of hours, but I took my time tbh. Once you get a hold of the knot, you can get it done pretty quickly, the second one I made while watching TV in way less time :)

Thank you so much! Yes you can make it with 4mm string, you will want to add more cords to make up for the smaller size (width). You can add as many as you like, just make sure it is an even number or cords and you should be good to go!

All you have to do is add extra cords and extra length on each cord. Just make sure it’s an even number of cords or the knots won’t work out.

Couldn’t say as I don’t know the size of cord and I’ve never attempted it in a 3ply rope.

I love this purse!I am very new to macrame, and you do a wonderful job demonstrating! However, we lost power during a snowstorm for a couple of hours and I was low on phone battery. Well...I thought I could remember the instructions and not so, haha! I did most of both sides, not knowing I was to join the two sides after 5-6 rows. I didn't want to take it down. So, did the bottom. It looks beautiful! I was wondering if you had any ideas on how I can connect the sides now? Lol! 🤞😂
Oh no! Lol 😂 You can use cord and see this sides together I think?! I do have a couple tutorials for clutch purses and use that method there, I hope this helps and good luck!❤️
