Just came across this video.. it brings me a lot of memories.. . I am now in my 60s. When I was a teenager in Hong Kong in the early 70s, I love diving and the water around Tap Mun offered the best visibility and that's what brought me to the island. I remember I had to take the very first train from the train terminal at Shim Sha Tsui at about 6am to catch the once-a-day ferry to Tap Mun. On your video, I find the Tap Mun Pier today remain exactly the same as it was over 40 years ago! Also, that first restaurant on the left hand side when you walked up the island was there and it still looks the same.. one time we brought our own fishes (The fishes we caught) there and asked them to cook for us.. . The public restroom at that time had about 4 toilets inside and they were all covered with maggots and stink terribly!:) There were lots of very colorful coral under the water at the front of the island right by the left hand side when you face the pier. My uncle and me would walk for about an hour over the hill to the east side of the island to snorkeling (At the spot at 7:18 on your clip. There were lots of all kinds of fishes there). The observation deck was not there and no paved path. We simply walked on dirt. I don't remember there were any stores/restaurants by the side where you were walking back to the pier at the end of the clip at that time. I left Hong Kong 30 years ago and I am now living in the US. This video brings me my happy years when I was a teenager in Hong Kong.. .Thank you so much for the great video and narrative!!
