Bless you. My husband went to be with the Lord in November. We enjoyed a lot of times during our 51 years together. I love him as much in Heaven as I did here on earth.
We haven't had tv for about 15 years now. We don't miss it at all. My husband enjoys putting puzzles together or reading. I knit, crochet, sew, or quilt. Our house is so peaceful.
I have a tv. I watch it occasionally. I prefer to watch youtube videos while I crochet. I also make some crafts from time to time or work on a puzzle. My latest puzzle was Thomas Kinkade's "Christmas Story". That was my husband's favorite movie so I put the puzzle together, glued it, and framed it. I hung it up during the holiday in memory of my husband. I loved it so much that I left it up for winter.
@@cherylhowker1792 I am truly enjoying it and plan to hang it each year. My husband loved the movie so much that he often watched it more than once in a 24-hour period😊 I think it reminded him of the neighborhood we grew up in😊
As a disabled person it is hard for me to position myself on plush/fabric car seats. My garments grab fabric against fabric and make it impossible to slide. An old deflated mylar bag on the car seat is a complete game changer. You can turn and slide like Teflon!
We are not the norm. We enjoy and watch a lot of TV. This is one of the things we do splurge on. We are not in debt, and we enjoy watching cable tv most evenings together. Usually, during the day, we are working around the house, exercising, we bowl on a league, etc. As you say, everyone's journey is different.
Will say I’m single 33 years old and I love watching tv but coz I enjoy what I watch I find it can keep me awake into the middle of the night lol so if I wanna sleep earlier or anything then I don’t have the tv on x but sometimes especially when I have a day with mother daughter time with my mum we can watch a tv show we like and watch back to back episodes for 6/7 hours… lol we enjoy spending time doing it sometimes when we have a weekend together, I have serious disabilities so sometimes mum will stay to help overnight and day save driving back and forth, like new year or fireworks weekend. X
We are a retired couple, and most evenings, my husband and I will read a good book together. I love to read out loud, and he loves to lie and listen! We have gone through so many wonderful books of different genres, but our favorite is historical fiction.
The TV is off all day until after dinner, my hubs and I love our evening TV time together, we like mystery/ crime shows, and love figuring them out together. It's nice to veg out and get cozy on the couch.
This is my husband and I as well. We don’t watch TV during the day but after dinner and cleaning up and getting things ready for the next day, we watch one show… right now the Aurora Teagarden mysteries on the Hallmark channel!
We didn't have a TV for 3 years. I miss not having a TV. Every night we would do a family devotion and have family alter time. Each of us kids included would take turns praying. It was definitely something that put us more in tune with the Lord. It's amazing how much the TV can just take time away from us.
We are always glad at the end of the day to sit in our recliners after supper, kitchen cleaned, baths taken and watch TV for about 3 hours. We go to bed at 9 o'clock to read. Our routine every night.
I started copying the Psalms in a three ring binder notebook a while back using colored markers. I draw in there some, write notes in there some. I sit at the table to do it while hubby watches westerns. (I could be content without a TV, but he could not and I would never ask him to do without) Other things are audiobooks, jigsaw puzzles, sewing a quilt top together (a simple, non-complicated design). And I watch TH-cam videos!😁💜 I especially love the game of Chinese Checkers although I have to wait until my granddaughter comes over to play!💜
We have 4 kiddos…soo….no lacking of things to do in the evening 😂 But in all seriousness, we love listening to audio books while coloring, or doing book puzzle such as sudoku, word search, crosswords, etc. also enjoy doing puzzles, playing board games, looking through old magazines and cookbooks, and reading.
I've done pot pies with leftovers - but I really like the lattice top idea. Very slick. And the mylar balloon as wrapping is brilliant. I did the ushering thing when my children were small as an outlet where I could see adults. The shows were wonderful and fed my inner artist - haha. (Plus I let Daddy experience 6 kids by himself for a few hours here and there.) Very happy for you to have this opportunity.
So true re: volunteering. It is a great way to be a part of community and contribute to your community. We need more community in these times. We are so isolated as a people. Having community is so important. Helping each other out is so important for humanity.
Too many people tied to their electronic devices, especially the younger ones. And then Covid hit,and made EVERYBODY socially isolated. Nobody had conversations that didn't involve a device. Sadly, this still persists. My friend's son & his wife are so bad...they sit on opposite ends of the couch & text each other. Hours go by, and they haven't said a single word to each other. The worst part is - they have a speech impaired, slightly learning disabled child. They're SUPPOSED to be going over the lessons that the speech pathologist had worked on earlier, and also reviewing what was taught in the classroom, to reinforce the lesson. But no...they plunk the child down in front of the tv, with tablet in hand, to play a video game, while they sit there texting. My friend and his ex-wife, as well as their other sons, have tried pointing out that this isn't helping the child - at all, but it just falls on deaf ears. Poor child.
I will do crafts even at night. I find it very relaxing. Lately I've been making baskets out of cardboard boxes and coasters out of yarn and other strings/yarn I have. I'm not a big tv watcher anyway, so I spend a lot of my time either sewing or making crafts.
I haven't had a TV in years, but I have a nice big computer monitor. I watch too much TH-cam each day, probably (gulp) two hours a day. I'm SO much more productive when I turn it off. I read about 200 books a year, so I always have a library book handy. I listen to audio books when walking or gardening. I plan my garden or start seeds this time of year. I do chores in the evening and occasionally watch a DVD. TH-cam definitely eats into my productivity, although I've saved a bunch of money fixing things on my own with DIY tutorials. Thanks for all the tips you share!
I find TH-cam does same to me, but I follow people on different things and have about 20 that post weekly, some 2x and some once a month. So depending when the content comes out in my uk time depends what day I watch and depending what I’m doing depends when, sometimes I fine like a Sunday 4-5 put them out so I don’t get them all watched and it carry’s it over, sometimes I have to prioritise what I’m gonna watch and some I watch back episodes like on here. So I can learn more.
I love to sew, knit and crochet. Plus I am learning Greek, so I soend quite a bit of time learning that every day. Also, I like to make handmade birthday cards and as the family expands I end up needing quite a bit of time for that!
I don’t watch a ton of tv…maybe an hour a week, but I am guilty of scrolling on Tik Tok and other social media and I need to put a limit on that big time. Before I know it, hours have gone by and I could have done something more enriching. I know why I do it too…to procrastinate on things I need to do. Reading these suggestions is so helpful and I am going to work on being more mindful with social media consumption by doing other activities instead and getting behind the why I am procrastinating on certain things.
Several years ago when my daughter started college and moved away I was an empty nest and felt totally lost. Thankfully a couple ladies I met at a graduation party suggested that I look into working at our local Auditorium as a ticket taker. They had done it for a season and enjoyed it. Needless to say I made a call and with their referral I worked there only a few shows or concerts a month and only a few hours each time but made many friends. I did that little side gig for 6 years. The money wasn't what was important as much as getting out and meeting people. Also I got to see so many concerts, plays and performances during our breaks. Willie Nelson, Robin Williams, Carol Burnett just to name drop a few. If I wasn't working I would never have paid to go and enjoy these performances. It was so helpful to transition from the empty nest to getting out and socialize without spending money. I'm sure you and Paul will have so much fun. Enjoy!
Growing up if we watched television we had to be doing something: cross stitch, crocheting, needle point, folding clothes or in the summer snapping beans or shelling peas!!! It carried over i usually have something i am working on!!!
Oh my goodness this was so packed with great content, this week my repurpose hack was using an old iron headboard for my cucumbers to grow on, saving room in the garden, I have many interest, puzzles of all kinds, reading, crafting, sewing, quilting and time with my dog. This week I added chickens which are already laying eggs. My dog and I having a great time watching and listening to them. Point is not much time for TV.
My husband and I both enjoy television, but if it were up to me alone, I'd be content with no TV a few evenings a week. I crochet and enjoy audio books (via the library, of course... free, free, free), but I also enjoy free old-time radio programs available via TH-cam and Internet Archive. I'm in my mid-fifties, but must be an old soul as things from the past have always resonated with me. The old mystery shows like The Shadow and Suspense are so fun to listen to. I like to imagine I'm sitting around the radio of an evening working on my projects just as they did in many years past.😊
The recipe looks so delicious….go Paul working that lattice crust….Emmy, he’s a keeper! Great idea with the balloon, who knew 🤗….I have the TV on more for noise than watching, but I’m guessing I actually watch 2 to 3 hours a day….broken up between the afternoon and evening….hope Paul’s parents are doing well….you guys keep on giving us great content….
I watch shows but on my iPad, no tv’s. I crochet scarves for a church that gives bags of goodies to homeless, pregnancy care centers, shelters etc. I meet other women at our library to craft by the fireplace, read, make art for a Little Free Art Library, free weight exercises, Bible study.
What a great idea about volunteering! My husband and I got married at a very old movie theater that had a Wurlitzer organ . It was a fun wedding and very affordable! 😊 Another way to hear free music is check local libraries! Out library has Celtic musicians ,African drumming circles check your libraries!! Such an amazing resource! Xo❤
I do not have a TV anymore. My evenings are spent listening to music or radio,(drama, documentary) whilst knitting or cross stitching and at other times I will read a book or peruse through my cookery books (latest count 429). Sumner evenings I will sit out in the garden and read or go for a walk and thus year I plan to restart cycling.
Another inspiring video! I watch TV way too (depression) and I'm trying to work myself away from it. I absolutely love, and look forward to, your videos.❤
Thank you Emmy and Paul. I have a standing date every evening with Andy Griffith and Barney Fife, after that I turn the TV off. When my TV stops working, I'm not planning on replacing it. For me, there are so many other enjoyable activities to do at home than watch random TV.😊
When you made your veg and turkey mixture and had the puff pastry, I thought you were going to fill squares of pastry with the mixture and bake them, kind of like a “hand pie” only savory instead of sweet. But your casserole looked really good! I was impressed by that lattice work, Paul….😉 I watch tv usually from around 7:30-9:00pm with my husband. We have a few shows we like to watch together, like NCIS, Vera. We usually watch on Paramount+, but since the new NCIS season just started, that’s the one show we watch on live tv. We also like Biblical shows and some movies if they aren’t too risqué…😂 I do my exercising, errands, crocheting and any cooking I want to accomplish during the day. By evening, I’m tired and just want to watch a few shows and go to bed. When it’s my turn to play the piano at church, I practice a lot during the day. I’m glad you asked that question because I’m sure a lot of us are curious as to what others do, too. God bless you both!❤ -Brenda
I too like clean entertainment. May I suggest frndly TV. Yes, it's spelled that way. Both live and on demand shows, about 40 channels like History, Me Tv, and lots of old programs like Rockford Files and Hawaii Five O and such. Only $10 a month with unlimited recording space. I am loving it. Has no sports or news though.
Emmy, you have the most joyful eyes, and happy voice. Love watching your and Paul’s videos. Always great tips, peaceful and happy videos. Currently holding my baby who is sleeping. Keep up the great work, and have a lovely day!
We watch YT videos (mostly farming videos & Outdoor Boys (a guy in AK) instead of TV. We do not have cable or internet, just use our phones internet. Your dish looked delicious!
I used to live in a northern city. In the summer our church always had a huge parish festive. Polka bands great food games rides etc. I loved to volunteer in the food kitchen. I got to eat great food listen to the bands. Watch all the dancing couples. Or enjoy any of the entertainment. It cost me nothing but my time. And you are right it really bonded those of us who worked together.
I make chicken pie all the time. I always make 2 and put one unbaked in the freezer. I thaw it out overnight in fridge and bake after work. I watch maybe 1 hour of tv a week. I read and sometimes do kitchen prep until 8 pm. I still work so this makes my cooking easier.
We have not had a television in 25 years! That means all 8 of our children have lived without it as well. We read, chat, do crafts or sewing, listen to music, or choose to watch a movie on our DVD player. We also enjoy podcasts and audiobooks while doing chores.
I haven't had tv for years. In the summer I'm outside until dark tending to my garden and animals. I love the months where it gets dark early so after chores I can crochet and watch my favorite YT channels on my kindle.
I usually will crochet every evening. Sometimes, while watching TV, lately, I've been binging on The Price is Right- The Bob Barker Era. Or Murder, She Wrote!!
I am 71 and have never tried puff pastry. But that leftover recipe looks so good lm going to try it! ( but I’m with you l would want more gravy) How sweet of you to cater to your husbands taste. I love tv but usually do not watch it until the evening, l watch the news and then l use my ROKU to watch my favorite utubers including Frugal Money Saver! Or sometimes l just read a good book or work on my quilts..
Thank you for your great ideas! I do watch TV in the evenings. I also walk the dogs🐕 , play the piano occasionally, crochet, and read. Oh, and call friends and family occasionally. I also, of course, watch TH-cam videos. 😊
First off, I want to say thank you for putting out peaceful content. I enjoyed watching this video to wind down. I was going to mention, I am also pastry challenged. Abby Jo at her youtube channel/ cooking vlog has a cool "pour over crust" pot pie casserole recipe that is so easy and super yummy!!
We haven’t had TV cable or satellite for over 40 years. We have a DVD player and even an old VHS player. We like watching the Gaithersburg Homecoming videos. We read the Bible together and do our own Bible study. We just enjoy the peace and quite of our home.
We go for a 60 to 90 minutes walk most weeknights, and I read and watch a little TH-cam after going to bed. Our work days are long, so after dinner, dishes and the walk, it's bed time.
I haven’t been willing to break away from a few hours of tv. I have my favorites. I do practice meditation every evening and I read before bed. I really enjoy watching you and Paul together. You are blessed to have each other❤️
I have started to volunteer at a local Hospice. I’m only there a few hours a week, but it very fulfilling. In the evenings I will read or crochet with music playing in the background. It’s a good way to wind down after a busy day.
I knit so I listen to audiobooks I’ve downloaded from the library. I listen to whatever strikes my fancy. Sometimes I listen to podcast as well. . This year I’m teaching myself to crochet so I do watch TH-cam videos. I live alone so sometimes the tv is on for “company”. Durning summer when it stays light longer I usually go out and tend to my yard and garden after dinner. I find that relaxing and it kind of helps settle my dinner. Or I go for a stroll around the neighborhood.
I wouldn't want to do without my tv time at night. After dishes are done we watch 2 to 3 hours of classic black and white movies or British mysteries, baseball in the summer. I quilt or stitch samplers while we do our viewing.
I don't watch TV during the day, but I do in the evenings after cleaning up the kitchen from dinner and making lunches for the next work day. My husband and I love camping and off-roading, so we watch a few episodes of our TH-cam videos of off-roading. I watch and listen to you during the day while I'm cleaning and cooking. I crochet, read, and do yoga. I keep myself pretty busy.we normally watch TV about 2 hours a night.
We have all volunteer movie theater one town over . 5.00 to get in and a special value pop, small bag of popcorn , mini candy bar for 5.00. I admire the volunteers. They are always happy-go lucky kinda vibe. It really makes the movie worth it. Great video.
I don't have a TV. I use my time to learn and study. I watch instructional videos on the computer and take courses and read. I do Sudoku and Jumble and Word Seek puzzles. I write encouraging letters and thankyou notes. I love to listen to music, especially choral music.
Hi!😊my husband and I sit with our children , in our living room and read one chapter of the Bible. We talk about it afterwards…..it’s so cozy and we laugh a lot . It’s just so relaxing and fun. We enjoy that last half hour of our day! Thank you for asking! I love you and Paul so much, hopefully some day we’ll meet. 😊 God bless the two of you and all you do! Keep up the great work!❤ ,
I seldom watch t.v. as I only have Roku and Netflix. I check out podcasts on TH-cam, do Ancestry work, read, chat on the phone with friends and, honestly, I am usually in bed pretty early as I get up before dawn. I entertain myself pretty well!
Love it been TV free for nine years. No TV no dish no internet or radio very peaceful read s book go for a walk explore nature or visit family if your bored you tube for cooking or balancing your finances love it
Oh, Emmy, it is SO good to see you and Paul again! I have been in the hospital for 6 weeks and did not have access to TH-cam. God has blessed me to still be here, and it is so nice to be getting back into my routines.
@@FrugalMoneySaver Thank you Emmy! It may be a difficult journey, but I am going to do my best. Watching my favorite TH-cam channels, especially yours, will be nice relaxing moments for me!
We do watch a movie and then turn off the TV and play a board game but only use the cards and don’t keep score. The cards are like trivia or name 5 of something, or sometimes we use “breaking the ice” type cards that ask about a favorite memory or first car or something. We’ve been married 23 years and I’m still learning new things about my husband.
My husband won't give up the tv, although i could do without one. I say we watch about 12 hrs a week, depending on what is on, after dinner. I like to read and do word puzzles in the evening also. I enjoy watching youtube on my computer at times.
Celery freezes great! Don't freeze if you like it fresh and raw. I chop my stalks and throw in a baggie in the freezer. Perfect for soups, stews, casseroles.
We watch tv, but usually it’s TH-cam or a remodeling show, we do like baseball and cooking shows…… but, recently I listened to a woman on TH-cam talk about her 12 month challenge. Take one new skill , practice that one skill for a full month and do that every month for a year…… game on!! Great discussion Emmy and Paul ❤
Don't watch tv but I have a busy basket by my bed that has word search book, coloring book. Read my bible put a puzzle together. I have a craft corner in the basement. Also been sorting and thinning my stuff. Cannot hardly wait to get outside and get into the flower beds.
I hated pot pie growing up. Of course we always had the 50¢ Banquet ones where the bottom crust was still raw while the edges were almost burnt. Yours looks good, and not difficult to put together. I may try it next time I have meat leftovers.
I haven't watched TV for about 15yrs 😊 Sometimes i watch an old series or movie on my tablet or phone , i also use youtube to learn how to do gardening things or learn how to make something i don't use tik tok or facebook😊
We haven't had a TV since about 2010. We read a lot and watch some really interesting TH-cam videos on things such as science, crafts, gardening, ancient history ... and Frugal Money Saver .😊
My son and I get up at 4:00 every morning and are ready for bed at 8:00 every night. I may watch a few TH-cam videos between 7 and 8, but that is all the television I watch. I do a few chores at night and spend a little time on the computer. I have also gotten back into doing jigsaw puzzles, which I used to do maybe 40 years ago. If I am not tired by 8 (rare) I will read in bed for a while. We really love getting up so early because it is the most peaceful time of the day.
Sometimes i watch Tv all day when I have time to do so . Other days I don’t watch tv at all. I work , do my laundry , clean my home, knitt and other stuff. So ,it depends on if I have time or not.
We watch maybe 2-5 hrs of tv a week (usually two programs we watch during the week, and maybe a movie on the weekend. We play games, do puzzles and still work full time outside the home so we use at home time to do at home projects and tidying :)
I have a reminder on my phone to wind down for bed and I try to read library books. Sometimes I watch or listen to a TV show on Discovery+ while making sure lunch is ready for the next day and the kitchen is straightened up. I only need to see the before and after. :)
I like to read, do a puzzle, journal, or write a poem. I can’t start a painting because it will keep me up all night. If I was able to, I would also help out at a local live theatre. 😊
I'm very pleased to see that you have almost 60K subscribers. Your channel so desrves to do well Emmy & Paul. I've got to applaud you on your new venture of volunteering at your local theatre. What a fabulous idea and especially as you both enjoy music so much. I'm so happy for you both that such an ideal opportunity came along. You're both having a wonderful and very fruitful retirement. You two are just so positive, so lovely and so talented too. Just loved this video. By the way Emmy I thought your nails looked lovely and your outfit was such a pretty colour as well. My husband and I if we're not watching TV, like to chat and remember holidays we've had, look at photos of places we've been to, share laughter over Charlie Brown books, take a walk together or play board games or cards. As you say though, it's easy to watch too many of our favourite You Tube videos when we're both tired and weary from our day at work. We don't watch television, but we do watch too much TH-cam at times (mostly travelling around Japan, Sweden, Copenhagen, Switzerland). God bless you both and thanks for your excellent channel. Have a good week.❤
I read books I got from the charity shops which I then take back to be sold again, I do jigsaws also from charity shops and take them back, sewing as in repairs, making pressies, making clothes and designing patterns using fabric, yes, you guessed it, from charity shops, draw, paint, study and sometimes watch your you tube videos and others. Also do housework and gardening after work
I read or listen to audiobooks while knitting. I have no cable, nor do I pay for any streaming services. I do have Amazon prime and a fire TV that I watch things on occasionally. Good recipe. I make chicken pot pie with leftover chicken like that and use small spoonfuls of biscuit dough for the topping.
I do watch tv on occassion but mostly I am on the computer watching/listening to youTube or playing games. I also like to read and do puzzles, both jigsaw and word puzzles such as crosswords and word finds.
Oh I was so happy today seeing your video. Great tips and that pot pie looked so good! I have leftover chicken and am tempted to do this! Excellent idea with the balloon! I watch youtube mostly on tv. Live TV is not family friendly or interesting anymore, so I search for Bob Ross or cooking shows elsewhere. So to pass time, I read, browse for recipes, knit, crochet, print graphics for crafting, cut out elements for crafting (fussy cutting), write a chapter for whatever I am working on, or watch a movie and or series. I used to be productive at night, but not anymore! I fall asleep to audiobooks or relaxation videos I listen too.
Great idea with the Mylar ballon! We no longer have cable but we keep our Prime video and Disney+ & Roku for when we watch tv which is no more than a couple hrs a day. We like to work on jigsaw puzzles, read, watch YT videos like your and we also like to play games like Phase10 and Mexican train. We are retirees in Florida and have a couple of dogs so during the day we focus on our home and garden maintenance, walk our pooches a few times and we also like to walk 3 1/2 miles around our neighborhood in the morning after our daily Bible reading 🤗
I only have TV's that I hook up my computer to so that I have a larger screen and can use it from across the room. Most of the time, they are off, but they are a handy computer screen.
I haven't watched TV in years. I don't even know how to turn the TV on! I read, crochet, knit, work on sewing projects, work on various paper crafts, get caught up on housework, maybe paint something (like a cabinet door, not an actual painting) and watch videos like yours! Oh, and I study garden catalogs and dream of warmer weather!
It made me so happy to read about others who do not watch a lot of or any tv either. At night, in winter, I like to sit by the woodstove fire and read or crochet. I also enjoy some of the other activities others have mentioned in the comments. Paul did great with his lattice work on the pot pie.
Love that gift wrap idea, Emmy! We make pot pie out of frozen leftovers too. Yummy and easy. I add a little thyme if it's poultry. Sometimes I use leftover stuffing for the crust. You can do this with browned hamburger too, and beef broth. I wish we had no TV. But what books and knitting/crocheting are to me, TV is to my husband, he loves it so much. And i love him, so... 😅😊 Great volunteer idea! Sounds like it is a good fit for you and Paul, and you are blessing the theater-goers with your friendly assistance ❤
I have Roku and I will watch tv about 4-5 hours a week. I don’t binge watch much but will watch a series from beginning to end, an episode per night (maybe 2 nights a week). I stay busy with reading, writing or on my iPad playing games and watching videos. I have a headset so I don’t disturb others (and they don’t disturb me). Tonight’s dinner is spaghetti and meatballs as I’m still working on my pantry cooking!
I read sew and have long conversations with my husband of 50 years appreciateing that one day there will be no more opportunity for us to be together.
Bless you. My husband went to be with the Lord in November. We enjoyed a lot of times during our 51 years together. I love him as much in Heaven as I did here on earth.
Same here . Fifty years for us too and ailing help . Make the use of each day.
For sure and Amen
Jessica, that is so wonderful! God bless you both!!
😮
We haven't had tv for about 15 years now. We don't miss it at all. My husband enjoys putting puzzles together or reading. I knit, crochet, sew, or quilt. Our house is so peaceful.
That to me is amazing! Good for you!
Sounds beautiful...
That sounds lovely and I expect it may be something that you can get out each year if you like it a lot, again something to bring you closer. Cxxx
@@cherylhowker1792 I am truly enjoying it and plan to hang it each year. My husband loved the movie so much that he often watched it more than once in a 24-hour period😊 I think it reminded him of the neighborhood we grew up in😊
Such a sweet story. Thank you for sharing. God bless you. 💜
As a disabled person it is hard for me to position myself on plush/fabric car seats. My garments grab fabric against fabric and make it impossible to slide. An old deflated mylar bag on the car seat is a complete game changer. You can turn and slide like Teflon!
What a great idea!
Thanks so much for sharing!
What a great idea. My Mom is getting ready for hip surgery and your tip will help so much. Thank you for sharing ❤
I, too, have this problem, so thanks so much for the great tip! It's definitely going to be a game changer.
Would be fabulous after surgery too.
Actually you are the norm, majority of people, excluding those commenting here, are tv or computer watchers.
I watch my youtubers during the evening.
Ellie, we don't have cable but we stream with a Roku. 3 hours or so night we watch too!

My Mom always used the Sunday funny papers for wrapping gifts. My kids still remember this fondly. She lived to be 96 years old.
Oh how wonderful!

Cindy, YES! No TV during the day but after dinner...we are there LOL!
We didn't have a TV for 3 years. I miss not having a TV. Every night we would do a family devotion and have family alter time. Each of us kids included would take turns praying. Yes, exactly! Thanks, Jennifer!
We are always glad at the end of the day to sit in our recliners after supper, kitchen cleaned, baths taken and watch TV for about 3 hours. We go to bed at 9 o'clock to read. Our routine every night.
Sounds just like us! Thanks for sharing!
No TV for almost 6 years. I read a lot , listen to music, knitting, crochet, puzzles ; youtube , In the summer sitting in the garden with some wine .
Sounds wonderful!
I started copying the Psalms in a three ring binder notebook a while back using colored markers. I draw in there some, write notes in there some. I sit at the table to do it while hubby watches westerns. (I could be content without a TV, but he could not and I would never ask him to do without)
Other things are audiobooks, jigsaw puzzles, sewing a quilt top together (a simple, non-complicated design).
And I watch TH-cam videos!😁💜
I especially love the game of Chinese Checkers although I have to wait until my granddaughter comes over to play!💜
Yes, Paul and I actually do enjoy watching TV!
My mom was so good at Chinese Checkers. It was her favorite game. We should have had her teach us how to play better.
We have 4 kiddos…soo….no lacking of things to do in the evening 😂
But in all seriousness, we love listening to audio books while coloring, or doing book puzzle such as sudoku, word search, crosswords, etc. also enjoy doing puzzles, playing board games, looking through old magazines and cookbooks, and reading.
Sounds wonderful!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for sharing!
And I always wondered why it's called babysitting if dad does it, but it's just mom, being a mom, when she does it. 🤔
So true re: volunteering. It is a great way to be a part of community and contribute to your community. We need more community in these times. We are so isolated as a people. Having community is so important. Helping each other out is so important for humanity.
I couldn't of said it better!
Poor child.
I read, I am learning Spanish, I sew, I watch You tube videos, I do research for :future trips, cheap flights, planning walks.
All wonderful!
I will do crafts even at night. I find it very relaxing. Lately I've been making baskets out of cardboard boxes and coasters out of yarn and other strings/yarn I have. I'm not a big tv watcher anyway, so I spend a lot of my time either sewing or making crafts.
Sounds productive and beautiful!
Great share! Thanks for your honesty!
How are you studying Greek?
Ευχαριστώ
Sounds like a all wonderful joys!
TV? Not much of it. But I DO watch Frugal Money Saver in my spare time!!! 😉
YAY! Thanks so much!
Red looks so good on you 👍🏻
So kind, thank you!
Nice idea using the Mylar balloon for wrapping.
Thank you! 😊
We watch Wheel of Fortune every night! It helps us unwind!
Love that show!
Yes, that's how I feel about TV at times!
Enjoy!
YES! How wonderful! It has been so much fun so far!
Growing up if we watched television we had to be doing something: cross stitch, crocheting, needle point, folding clothes or in the summer snapping beans or shelling peas!!!
It carried over i usually have something i am working on!!!
That's a great idea!
Chickens!! If and when we ever move to the Little House in SC I told Paul I want chickens lol!
Oh how fun! Great idea!
Thanks, Carolyn! They are well!
I often study my Sunday school lesson , look at TH-cam, do arm exercises, play the piano, read , and text friends. Of course each evening will vary.
,
Yes, thanks for sharing!
How generous of you!!
Wonderful hobbies!
Xo❤
Yes, the library offers so much!
All wonderful! Thanks!
Another inspiring video! I watch TV way too (depression) and I'm trying to work myself away from it. I absolutely love, and look forward to, your videos.❤
Love to hear you enjoy our videos! Thank you!
Thank you Emmy and Paul. I have a standing date every evening with Andy Griffith and Barney Fife, after that I turn the TV off.
When my TV stops working, I'm not planning on replacing it.
For me, there are so many other enjoyable activities to do at home than watch random TV.😊
Love that! Andy Griffith is such a warm cozy show!
When you made your veg and turkey mixture and had the puff pastry, I thought you were going to fill squares of pastry with the mixture and bake them, kind of like a “hand pie” only savory instead of sweet. But your casserole looked really good! I was impressed by that lattice work, Paul….😉
I watch tv usually from around 7:30-9:00pm with my husband. We have a few shows we like to watch together, like NCIS, Vera. We usually watch on Paramount+, but since the new NCIS season just started, that’s the one show we watch on live tv. We also like Biblical shows and some movies if they aren’t too risqué…😂
I do my exercising, errands, crocheting and any cooking I want to accomplish during the day. By evening, I’m tired and just want to watch a few shows and go to bed. When it’s my turn to play the piano at church, I practice a lot during the day.
I’m glad you asked that question because I’m sure a lot of us are curious as to what others do, too.
God bless you both!❤
-Brenda
Brenda, that is us too...we are tired at night and just love to relax lol!
We listen to National Public Radio and another favorite is Desert Island Disks on the BBC. Carole
Oh that's great!
Emmy, you have the most joyful eyes, and happy voice. Love watching your and Paul’s videos. Always great tips, peaceful and happy videos. Currently holding my baby who is sleeping. Keep up the great work, and have a lovely day!
Thank you for the lovely compliment!
Thank you Emmy! 😊
We watch YT videos (mostly farming videos & Outdoor Boys (a guy in AK) instead of TV. We do not have cable or internet, just use our phones internet.
Your dish looked delicious!
Thanks so much, Sally!
I mainly watch dvds (in my library of stock) instead of tv.
I watch TH-cam videos
But mostly I listen to audiobooks and crochet or read.
Julie, thanks for sharing!
I used to live in a
northern city.
Yes, volunteering is a win win for sure!
What a great time saving idea!
No tv. Reading a book , playing my harp, spinning new yarn, sewing, crocheting, talking to my sisters and friends, researching on the web
All wonderful activities!
We usually watch an hour of tv at night and then read. I sometimes knit or do crossword puzzles and we both enjoy TH-cam!
Perfect!
We have not had a television in 25 years! That means all 8 of our children have lived without it as well. We read, chat, do crafts or sewing, listen to music, or choose to watch a movie on our DVD player. We also enjoy podcasts and audiobooks while doing chores.
Love that! So wonderful!
I haven't had tv for years. In the summer I'm outside until dark tending to my garden and animals. I love the months where it gets dark early so after chores I can crochet and watch my favorite YT channels on my kindle.
Sounds perfect!
I usually will crochet every evening. Sometimes, while watching TV, lately, I've been binging on The Price is Right- The Bob Barker Era. Or Murder, She Wrote!!
Wonderful classics!
Thanks for choosing to watch us!!
I love that mylar balloon idea. Going to have to try that one.
It works great!
Thank you for your great ideas!
I do watch TV in the evenings. I also walk the dogs🐕 , play the piano occasionally, crochet, and read. Oh, and call friends and family occasionally. I also, of course, watch TH-cam videos. 😊
Sounds great!
Thanks for sharing!
We haven’t had TV cable or satellite for over 40 years. We have a DVD player and even an old VHS player. We like watching the Gaithersburg Homecoming videos. We read the Bible together and do our own Bible study. We just enjoy the peace and quite of our home.
Sounds wonderful!
We go for a 60 to 90 minutes walk most weeknights, and I read and watch a little TH-cam after going to bed. Our work days are long, so after dinner, dishes and the walk, it's bed time.
Sounds lovely!
I haven’t been willing to break away from a few hours of tv. I have my favorites.
I do practice meditation every evening and I read before bed.
I really enjoy watching you and Paul together. You are blessed to have each other❤️
Yes, thanks so much!
I have started to volunteer at a local Hospice. I’m only there a few hours a week, but it very fulfilling.
In the evenings I will read or crochet with music playing in the background. It’s a good way to wind down after a busy day.
Oh that is so wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
We have a lovely old theatre locally that puts on plays for school age kids. It’s a lovely environment!!!
Oh that's wonderful!
Yes, I think the summer is easier to watch less TV too!
I wouldn't want to do without my tv time at night. After dishes are done we watch 2 to 3 hours of classic black and white movies or British mysteries, baseball in the summer. I quilt or stitch samplers while we do our viewing.
That's us too...about 2-3 hours!
We don't watch TV during the day either!
We have all volunteer movie theater one town over . 5.00 to get in and a special value pop, small bag of popcorn , mini candy bar for 5.00. I admire the volunteers. They are always happy-go lucky kinda vibe. It really makes the movie worth it. Great video.
Oh that must be so fun!
I don't have a TV. I use my time to learn and study. I watch instructional videos on the computer and take courses and read. I do Sudoku and Jumble and Word Seek puzzles. I write encouraging letters and thankyou notes. I love to listen to music, especially choral music.
Thanks for sharing! All wonderful!
Keep up the great work!❤
,
Wonderful comment, Christine! We always love to meet our viewers!
I seldom watch t.v. as I only have Roku and Netflix. I check out podcasts on TH-cam, do Ancestry work, read, chat on the phone with friends and, honestly, I am usually in bed pretty early as I get up before dawn. I entertain myself pretty well!
Janet, that's great!
Thank you for bringing memories of my family back with the simple, frugal lifestyle tips that remind me of days gone by
You are so welcome!
Love it been TV free for nine years. No TV no dish no internet or radio very peaceful read s book go for a walk explore nature or visit family if your bored you tube for cooking or balancing your finances love it
That is awesome! Good for you!
Oh, Emmy, it is SO good to see you and Paul again! I have been in the hospital for 6 weeks and did not have access to TH-cam. God has blessed me to still be here, and it is so nice to be getting back into my routines.
Oh I am so sorry to hear that! I hope you are much better and healing!!
What a fun idea! Thanks!
My husband won't give up the tv, although i could do without one. I say we watch about 12 hrs a week, depending on what is on, after dinner. I like to read and do word puzzles in the evening also. I enjoy watching youtube on my computer at times.
Thanks for sharing!!
Crochet ,books, music, devotions, rosary, u-tube visiting ,cards, puzzles never enough time to do it all 😅
Love this so much!
Celery freezes great! Don't freeze if you like it fresh and raw. I chop my stalks and throw in a baggie in the freezer. Perfect for soups, stews, casseroles.
Great tip!
We have a TV but don't watch it a lot. We really only use it to watch our favorite sports, and a few shows that we enjoy, but that's really about it.
Thanks for sharing!
We watch movies or read at night! We like surfing our favorites on youtube!❤
We do the same, Angie!
No tv here. I choose Audible books or TH-cam without the ads. Your channel vrings me real pleasure. Thank you both.
YAY! Thanks for the kind words!
Wonderful idea! Thank you!
Don't watch tv but I have a busy basket by my bed that has word search book, coloring book. Read my bible put a puzzle together. I have a craft corner in the basement. Also been sorting and thinning my stuff. Cannot hardly wait to get outside and get into the flower beds.
Yes, spring is coming!
I hated pot pie growing up. Of course we always had the 50¢ Banquet ones where the bottom crust was still raw while the edges were almost burnt. Yours looks good, and not difficult to put together. I may try it next time I have meat leftovers.
It's very good!
I haven't watched TV for about 15yrs 😊
Sometimes i watch an old series or movie on my tablet or phone , i also use youtube to learn how to do gardening things or learn how to make something i don't use tik tok or facebook😊
That's smart!
We haven't had a TV since about 2010. We read a lot and watch some really interesting TH-cam videos on things such as science, crafts, gardening, ancient history ... and Frugal Money Saver .😊
YAY! Best compliment, thank you!
Yes, we are early risers as well! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve volunteered to teach free computer classes at a local library since 2016 or so.
YES! That's so wonderful!
Sometimes i watch Tv all day when I have time to do so . Other days I don’t watch tv at all. I work , do my laundry , clean my home, knitt and other stuff. So ,it depends on if I have time or not.
Great point!
We watch maybe 2-5 hrs of tv a week (usually two programs we watch during the week, and maybe a movie on the weekend. We play games, do puzzles and still work full time outside the home so we use at home time to do at home projects and tidying :)
Angela, that's sounds great!
I have a reminder on my phone to wind down for bed and I try to read library books. Sometimes I watch or listen to a TV show on Discovery+ while making sure lunch is ready for the next day and the kitchen is straightened up. I only need to see the before and after. :)
That must work out well!
I like to read, do a puzzle, journal, or write a poem. I can’t start a painting because it will keep me up all night. If I was able to, I would also help out at a local live theatre. 😊
Sounds great! Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words! Love that you watch travel videos! So fun!
Also do housework and gardening after work
That is awesome!
Haven’t had a tv for years don’t miss it. I read or watch my hauls on my phone. Great channel ❤
Awesome! Thank you, Melody!
Yes, biscuit dough would work great!
I watch TV at least 3 hours in the day and around 4 to 5 hours at night 🤗
Pat, we watch about 3 or so hours every evening too!
I do watch tv on occassion but mostly I am on the computer watching/listening to youTube or playing games. I also like to read and do puzzles, both jigsaw and word puzzles such as crosswords and word finds.
Sounds great!
Yes, I think that's it. At night we are tired and not very productive lol!
Using up frig, veggies, freezer and pantry things is how we cook now. Less waste. Have to get creative.
Very smart!
That's us too! No cable but have streaming channels! Thanks for sharing!
We make puzzles, read, catch up with folks on the phone, listen to music, play board games or cards and crochet.
All wonderful relaxing past times!
I only have TV's that I hook up my computer to so that I have a larger screen and can use it from across the room. Most of the time, they are off, but they are a handy computer screen.
Thanks for sharing!
How wonderful! Good for you!
It made me so happy to read about others who do not watch a lot of or any tv either. At night, in winter, I like to sit by the woodstove fire and read or crochet. I also enjoy some of the other activities others have mentioned in the comments. Paul did great with his lattice work on the pot pie.
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for sharing and watching, Emmelia!
I like how Paul did the pastry topping. That's something I can remember.
Yes, he's always surprising me!
Yes, we love our Roku!
