Hi Adam, I like the fact that in many of your videos you speak about photography using artistic qualities and forms. I believe in order to get new audiences to understand photography it's important to teach photography as an art form and not the act of taking photos. Thanks for your efforts.
Adam, I avoided this video before because I thought it would be yet another ubiquitous video with 7 fluffy points or 7 that we already really know. Now, even though I knew some of these, I have to tell you I find this entire video with your descriptions and examples to be good and beefy. Well done. Excellent. Thank you.
Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away ... no wait, wrong film 🙂 A long time ago I got a Bachelor of Fine Art degree, which I put to use in the advertising and graphic design field for 16 years (then I took a left turn into IT for 24 years, but that's another story). Now retired, I'm getting back into photography and I find that the compositional principles I (hopefully!) learned 40+ years ago will surface if given a little room and thought. The old adage is definitely true: Use it or lose it. But it's coming back and your videos (as well as those from Tom Heaton, Nigel Danson, Mads Peter Iverson and others) are a great help. I find that I sometimes have to discipline myself while at the camera to look more closely, rather than assuming it can be "fixed in post". Keep the excellent videos coming!
Thanks Len. appreciate you taking the time to share. I don’t think that desire to rush things whilst at the camera ever goes away. Discipline is exactly the word.
Hi Adam, This was a great video to watch & so helpful. photography as i am coming to learn is an art & you & your work are inspirational to my own development so thank you
Hi Adam. Your passion and commitment to the art is wonderful and much appreciated. The photographic community is a complex beast and you have managed to tame some of the more challenging members and expose those that make it difficult for artists and creators. Your recent video on social media developments was particularly enlightening. This video, carefully planned and executed, was brilliant and very helpful to everyone learning the art. Many thanks for all you do for the medium. Cheers!
What an excellent video. I've never thought of a sequential 'hierarchy' of compositional elements before...but it makes a lot of sense: line; shape; form; placement; space; negative space; value; texture; colour; abstraction. It's a great way to build a picture.
Fantastic video Adam. It is this video and the others you have recently published that has rekindled my once lost passion for photography. I'm retired and much older than you and learned basics of photography with my first SLR, and old Canon EF film camera decades ago. Over time, family, work, and other things pulled me away from photography for years. But once watching your videos covering the artistic elements of photography and not so much the gear, I am even more so enjoying the experiences than ever before! The subject matter of this video allows even hobbyist photographers to view, see, and hopefully appreciate their images in a much better way. Keep it up!
Wow Adam that’s a complete masterclass in one session, fab. That could be the intro to a series of vids of each of the subjects covered? Mega info. Thanks MJ
Great video Adam! All the talk lately of is photography dying thanks to phones. This video explains exactally why it won't and can in my opinion never do what cameras can do, as well as all the artistic interpritations that we put into our art through our equipment and the editing process. Have a great weekend!
What lovely photos you used in your examples, superb! It was a very interesting video with some quite useful tips which I think will perhaps help me along my photographic journey so to speak. Thanks for sharing this with us Adam, thoroughly enjoyable it was 😁👍
Always great so see the array of beautiful images you have created Adam. Was at the same spot overlooking Canary Wharf a few days ago and every time I go back it's interesting to see the every changing skyline. Been in London the past 6 days and have 2 more to go and big difference from when I was here in September as the crowds are definitely back
Another great video. Love your sincere approach to explaining things to those of us who aren't quite as artistic, knowledgeable, or skilled. Thanks! Oh - and some of us over here in the True North are still part of the Commonwealth and still use the Queen's English :-)
I love that you talk about PHOTOGRAPHY and not just gear.
Thanks Brandon. The other stuff gets boring really fast.

Thanks Michael. for me its the way to keep it interesting and give it longevity.
Excellent. One of my favorites. You managed to cover 95% of photography in a simple and thoughtful video. Thank you from “across the pond”.

Wow! One of the most informative photography videos I’ve seen.
Fabulous video, Adam. Like you, I'm a sucker for blue monochrome scenes/images. Take care, mate.
Very informative Adam 😃
I just do what I feel. 😊
A solid philosophy.

Thanks Mark. Very much appreciated.
Great video, short and sweet and to the point on a very very very complex topic. Thumbs up!
Thanks mate.

Great video. I'm sure my photography will improve immensely if I can put the theory into practice.
Even just assessing your previous work through this lens can be useful.
Great video, Adam. Your artistic approach to photography is a source of inspiration. I really, really like your contents. 🙏
Thanks Nelson. I feel the same about your comment, means a lot.

I can really feel the pull too.

Thanks Don. Appreciate the comment.
Hi Adam, hope you are well. I am a beginner photographer. I am planing to buy canon 90d. Will it be a good choice for beginner like me?
This is how you make the apprentice learn without making the apprentice feel like an idiot, a truly inspirational film.
Ha thanks Christine. Honoured by your comment.
Thank you so much for clarifying 'color', because you lost me for a moment.
