My mother and I are both likely winter and my sister is autumn. I have no idea what my father is, but maybe cool too. We do all have dark hair, dark eyes and relatively light skin, but there are definitely differences when you look for them.
My sister and I used to look very alike as kids, so we've tried sharing some colours later on. We found she looks incredible in (dark) olive and rust while the same colours make me look very yellow in a bad way.

So my example: mom- spring (medium brown hair with golden shine, warm green eyes, light skin), dad - summer (medium to light brown hair, blue-green eyes, very pale skin), me - winter, because I inherited grandma's dark brown hair, my eyes are mixture of grey and yellow (look green overall), skin is a mixture of both parents, but closer to cool (but I can tolerate some warm colours that are not extremely warm).

My sister and I have very different appearances, I have an olive skin tone and brown hair like our dad, and she has fair skin and is blond like our mom. But I think we are both summers, at least I am for sure (soft summer), and would be surprised if she was something else. But it goes to show that even if your colours appear to be very different (my overtone is definitely warm), you could still be in the same season. (:

My mother did a colour analysis when she was young and the result was she is a summer. I don't know what sub category, but I think soft or cold summer. I just had an analysis done and I too am a summer, but light summer. I have a bit lighter eyes and hair in comparison to her. I have light olive skin tone though (overtone), so I always thought I was warm and dressed "wrong" for a long time 😅My husband is a winter and it will be interesting to see what our sons palette will be... I think summer actually as he is more alike me 😊

My mother was SSu and light skinned, Father (no color analysis then but I remember very clearly what shirts he looked good in as a small child-and I think young children are automatically color analysts-watching how healthy thei parents are for survival purposes, possibly) was olive skinned either Cool Summer or some sort of Winter. I didn't pay attention to my brother's coloring, however my own skin I clearly got from my grandmother. And possibly my great grandmother (1870s-1960s so no color analysis). At any rate, though my parents are cool, I am a SA.

I agree that family members can have different seasons! My sister has always been softer and paler in her coloring, and I believe she was typed as a summer some time ago. I am absolutely a winter... and I believe I am deep winter, because I can borrow some deep cool colors from the autumn season. My daughter has blue eyes (her father has brown, and mine are hazel) and pale skin, which will tan golden, and very dark brown hair from birth. When she was little I would dress her in purples and turquoise/teals, but she has this one little black velvet dress that she looked stunning in at 2 years old! I am pretty sure she is also a winter, but not exactly sure of her sub-season. She married a man with brown hair, a reddish beard, and blond hair on his arms with blue eyes. I can't wait to try some swatches on their 3 year old daughter the next time I see her. Her hair reads as ashy tones with warmth depending upon the light, and she has light eyes and very pale skin. My daughter and I have discussed weather warm or cool tones (especially pinks or peaches) will look best on her, as I see both of those when I look at her coloring.

My parents looked so different! Dad was darkish skintone, chocolate brown warm eyes, darkest warm hair, almost black. He always wore cream shirts, never white, brown suits and shoes and orange or warm red ties. Mum was natural platinum blonde, almost white, with palest pink toned skin and the palest blue eyes I have ever seen (attraction of opposites?!). My brother and I both have dads, dark, thick, wavy hair and darkish eyes, but we both have pale skin from mum. The difference is, brov has cool skintone, no warmth in hair, dark cool eyes. I have warm, dark brown hair, warm, green eyes and a slight ivory yellow warm tone to skin, although very pale. Brov lives in grey and black and cool red and navy, I live in greens, warm reds, warm pinks, even some oranges. I look totally washed out in black, grey and most navy shades. Strange, but people always think of us as siblings having the same colouring though!

Her son did have light hair as a baby, but it quickly darken, so the blonde almost stayed hehe.

I'm the oldest of 3 siblings. Our parents both have dark brown hair, hazel (green and amber tones) eyes and fair skin. I inherited all of those chromatic characteristics but my 2 siblings both have sapphire blue eyes (the same colour as my dad's mother) and blonde hair that has darkened to a mousy blonde/brown in adulthood. The one characteristic I think we all share is that we are all cool toned - a mix of Winters and Summers

My mom was warm toned and my dad cool. It was obvious by what colors worked on them. One of my adult daughters and I were both analyzed, and I was true spring and she was light spring. Another daughter was not analyzed but dang, just looking at what works on her she has to be cool. She rocks the mauve and berry lipsticks. Put those on me and I look like I passed away last week. My third daughter looks fantastic in spring colors. My husband was never analyzed (and won’t be) but if I had to guess I think he leans cool. So our five kids (the other two are boys) could turn out just about any season (though I doubt any would be winter).

Some genes are always dominant and others are always recessive. For example, the gene for brown eyes is a dominant gene, while the gene for blue eyes is a recessive gene. Genes come in pairs and you inherit one from each parent. If you inherit one dominant gene and one recessive gene, then the dominant gene will be expressed. In this example, you will have brown eyes. If you inherit two recessive genes (one from each parent), then the recessive trait (e.g., blue eyes) will be the one that is expressed. For example, two parents with blue eyes will have a child with blue eyes because neither has the gene for brown eyes. If they did, their eyes would be brown and not blue, since brown is the dominant gene. Two parents with brown eyes might have a child with blue eyes if they each carry the recessive gene for blue eyes, and the child inherits that gene from both of them. Otherwise their children will have brown eyes. Of course things are much more complicated than that, but the basics of dominant and recessive genes (discovered in the 19th century by Gregor Mendel)
    still hold up.

I found a quote on Medline Plus and posted it below. The model of inheritance I described (I remember if from a class I took many years ago) is an older model and things are now understood in more complex terms because more than one gene is involved. The older model of brown eyes being dominant and blue recessive still fits often but will not explain eye colour 100% of the time as eye colour can be influenced by more than one gene. Most people can probably use this model if they want to make sense of their eye colour and other characteristics of their season in terms of their family. Your friends' situation is unusual but not impossible. The quote I found is pasted below:

While no one in my family has been analyzed (I am the only one who wants to and I doubt my mom has heard of the concept), all my life I have gotten comparisons to my mom and even my brothers. Probably because it seems rare to see a whole family of blondes now. Like one time when I was a kid, (when it was just me and one brother, 2nd wasn't in the picture yet) we traveled to CA to go to Disney Land and this one Japanese family asked to get a picture of us because they never saw a family of blondes before lol (a few of them even wanted to touch our hair, my brother hated that). Now I doubt my mom and would have the same color palette, because my coloring is more akin to my dad than my mom. Both of us do favor pastels, but I noticed my mom can handle a few jewel tones, but I suit muted. Like our hair color is different too (despite being blondes). I got my dad's golden blonde (which can turn brown, I do have brown in my hair). My mom was ALWAYS a light blonde, even after having kids until my youngest brother finally came around, her hair turned a bit golden, but it's ashier, like that's what happened with my maternal grandpa, he was the blonde between him and my Nana (who was a brunette), but eventually his hair turned white. Anyway it always annoyed me a bit when people say, "You look like your mom" when I actually don't, other than our body types. I always say I look like my dad and my mom's older sister (and this is a result of comparing pictures of myself with my mom and aunt when they were my age). Over the years though my mom has borrowed my clothes and vice versa.
As far as my brothers and I go, other than the blonde hair and blue eyes (all 5 of us have blue eyes), we look nothing alike so it did surprise me when people knew we were siblings. It's because we are a combination of not only our parents but aunts, uncles, and even grandparents. While my brothers will never wear "girly colors" (as they call it), we still wear similar color schemes because I enjoy blues, neutrals, and the occasional warm tones also. They're color tastes are similar to our dad's for sure. I guess this comes from all of the times when my mom would pick out our outfits for family photos in the past.
When you talk about recessive gene, I got a perfect example for you in my family. My dad's parents, my grandpa was blonde and my grandma was a redhead. My dad was the only blonde, while one of my uncles had sandy blonde hair (like a combo of brown and blonde), while my other uncle was a brunette. My grandma's parents were both brunettes, but her grandma was a redhead. Well, the redhead skipped another generation this time around too. One of my brothers, while have blonde head-hair, he has red facial hair lol. But he shaves a lot (he's military), so you never see it lol. He never had facial hair, just 'peach fuzz' until he got into his 20s. He's a father himself and his two sons are blondes while his daughter is a brunette like my sister-in-law. Going to laugh if one of them produces a redhead kid lol. So yeah the Redhair does skip around in my family.

Well, I was thinking about that after your video for true seasons and my suspicions of me being True Summer but not Soft Summer. My father is Soft Summer for sure - his best colors are some very muted greens, greys and navy. I've seen his black and white picture as a child 4-5 years old - well, his skin tone is that grey as the middle grey background standard for old studio photography. I've seen black and white pictures of my mother as teenager too - lovely white skin with black hair. In reality she has cool dark brown hair with blue-green eyes and cool pinky skin (orange and brown makes her look ill) so I believe she is Cool Winter. I somewhat tested her with presents 😁 - I gifted her a cobalt blue scarf and petrol green blouse for her last birthday and her skin is glowing! My brother and I, we both are Summers for sure like my father.
I look alike my father, almost his female version 😁, and I'm soft also - steel shine of my ashy dark blond hair, gray tint in my cool pale skin, the same grey-green eyes like his. But I'm not that soft! His best colors look dull on me, but my mothers Cool Winter colors are too dark and too bright for me although I can wear that cool colors. My brother looks more alike my mother than my father and he is not as soft as me - his skin is closer to my mother's skin (may be some softness I don't know) but also ashy dark blond hair (none of my parent has blond hair only my grandmother, talking about recessive genes 😁).
So my theory is this softness is like on slider - I inherited the color season of my father but my mother brightness in coloration affected on my skin softness not being as soft as the original 😉. In my brother coloration the slider is even closer to my mother's brightness and he is not as soft as me or even not soft at all. My suspicions are he is a Cool Summer because the clear middle bright pink suit him very well and his skin looks fresh (but this is only one color...). Color analysis is not popular in my country so my only option is to test him with presents also 😄

That’s right. These qualities are spectrums. Nice observation!

Very fun subject! It’s interesting how a child’s best colors can evolve -- or maybe how we parents begin to understand better our child’s colors. My husband and I both thought our son was a bright cool season but he started gravitating towards deep autumn colors in his late teens, which initially made us grimace inwardly…until we realized that he looked great …and he is most likely a deep autumn! Go figure 😂

I think hormonal changes can affect our colouring as well, and children can change their season after puberty. At least that’s what I’ve heard, don’t know if it’s just a myth.(:

My parents are both so pale that you can't tell from skin tone easily, but their other features are total opposites. I am pretty in the middle and so I flip flop on if I lean cool or warm 😅

I'm a deep winter, my husband is a deep autumn, two of our children are deep winters and the other two deep autumns. Currently expecting and I would be very surprised if bubs wasn't deep like the rest of us but you never know how the genes will go.

What actually makes a person have a warm or cool undertone? Scientifically…
