We've used this griddler for a variety of items including steak, fish, vegetables th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMcXT6_MuT0hB3ejyGQQHaeof9bwoWPUf and mushrooms and it's been great! Gets that great smokey flavor when using high heat or sear. The grill works amazingly simple and very low smoke for what it is. Heat gets up fairly quick, especially on closed position. The griddler side is fairly simple, better for eggs and pancakes rather than any cooking. Use the flat plates with the grill side if needed.Cleanup is easy and having heat on both sides is great for cooking a large amount or panini press. This definitely gets hot though so be careful with the sides.
Got my double side griddle from Home Goods for $25 bucks. Took a sander to the flat side and made it smooth as glass. 80 grit, then 120 grit. Probably didn't need too, but I don't have years to wait for a proper time infused seasoning. Coat it in oil and bake it for an hour in a 450 oven. Did it 2x. It worked like magic
I read this as soon as he said it and it put the biggest smile on my face 😂 he’s so happy 😁 I am too.. love a good pancake.. my mom (love her to life.. bless her heart) we always grew up with brunt pancakes.. when I became an adult I said “no more!” Lol I learn proper pancake “technique” and now we have pretty pancakes like those lol
Good Job Buddy!! Been using my glass top for 8-10 years with Cast Iron Cookware. I have a few marks from iron use but hey... it’s aging! I finally talked my bride into going with gas since I added Natural Gas about 15 years ago when I converted to NG Heat. I added NG Fire Place Logs and NG for grilling. Went ahead and added a line for the kitchen and garage. FINALLY I’ll be cooking with GAS after approximately 18-20 years. It’ll be delivered on July 1st WootWoot
Thanks for this, I was worried about getting the reversible grill because that inch or so of space and lack of direct contact on a glass top might mean it wouldn't get hot enough.
Love at first griddle, ever met two people who fell in love because the girl he was dating has a lodge reversible flaptop and has always wanted one before as well. Brings it over on the first date, puts them side by side and it's almost like a real flat top grill. hahah
Breakfast of Champions baby love it. Awesome great job man🤙🙈🤣 my mouth was watering watching this vid. I think I might get the pan type with the handle not sure what the diff is though other then the handle
Thanks for this video, looks amazing! My only drawback in buying one is the thought of how much it could splatter without side on it. Have you found that it splatters oil everywhere?
Is there a good or proper way to use these where you don't smoke out your entire house? Got one for christmas, but regardless of running my fume extractor at high speed, my house is filled with smoke within minutes....
Hey Darwin, the post you saw in the group was undoubtedly from Jeff Rogers. He’s on TH-cam as The Culinary Fanatic. You’ll love his videos! Great looking pancakes (whole breakfast tbh), by the way! Keep ‘em coming!
Bob Fletcher JBR videos are a great & a treat to watch! Very educative informational as well. It’s been my go-to channel along with Cowboy Kent Rollins channel.
Hi! Is your heat source IH(Induction)? The edge of griddle seems not flat enough to get tightened to the induction. Is that wright? I want to buy both of them but not sure if it would work together. I would appreciate if you share your experience more. Thanks in advance!
Great video. Thinking about getting one but was worried about my glass stovetop. I guess if you lay it down carefully and don't move it, it shouldn't scratch anything.
That is correct. The glass top stove will be fine. Just don’t slide your pans around on the surface or set them down too aggressively. Thanks for watching.
I know cast iron is better but I dont like babysitting it so i ordered a cast aluminum one by Nordic Ware and am waiting for it to come in. I dont even use my 10" cast iron skillet because its annoying (to me) having to take extra measures. Completely agree about gas, you have way more temperature control. I have a glass top in my new house i moved to and hate it, the area I am in there is no natural gas lines so im fked
Not much, it’s just that you have a larger, more open surface to work with. You can basically cook everything in one place, no moving the pan around, no pan walls to hinder your spatula. Also, when you can grill the patties and toast the bun at the same time, you feel like a real chef at a burger place, which is pretty cool
6:07 caught ya! somebody has messed with that pancake! It's ok though, I always enjoy a pancake cooked a little past golden brown because it adds a little caramelized flavor. looks delishhhh!
@@DarwinYoung1969 The pancake moved indicating it was picked up during the time lapse. I also mentioned how I like to cook a pancake past golden brown to enhance the flavor to a darkness like the one in your video, maybe even a tad darker.
@@JChackoFTP I am on the fence whether to go for the 16.75 inch one ( the one in this video) or the 20 inch one, we are a family of 4 and wondering how much it would grill in a single batch. Can you plz let me know how much of chicken breast in pounds I could grill in one batch ?

Most of the ceramic glass range manufacturers say you shouldn't span cookware across two elements like this or you risk cracking the glass. No truth to this?
@@DarwinYoung1969 Sorry no when I first bought it today I put it on my two burners and the sides start smoking and the bottom started smoking and I only put it at 4/10 I was able to use it but I was just curious why that happened and if you experienced it
Well I can only make an assumption. Sounds to me you got it pretty hot and the seasoning was burning off. Are you on a gas stove? I typically bring home my new pieces, wash them real good and give them at least one round of seasoning in the oven prior to cooking on them. I do sometimes see a bit of smoke, but only when I am going for a high temp. Don’t forget cast iron prefers a low and slow cooking method unless you are searing meat. I wouldn’t be too concerned about the smoke unless you can see that the seasoning is literally burning off. If that is the case, turn down the heat! Hope this helps.
Probably running the heat too high. Cast iron retains heat, so once your iron is hot, turn the heat down. your iron will smoke once the oil seasoning starts breaking down, at around 400-425 degrees, since Lodge uses Canola for seasoning at the factory
I don't use metal utensils on my cast iron. Respect the seasoning and curing process. Just got a doible sided griddle. Look forward to all you can eat pancakes at my house.

My suggestion is preheat it in the oven depending on what you are cooking. Enjoy!
I recently bought the same griddle! ❤️

What size grill did you go with? Deciding between
the 16.75 Inch x 9.5 Inch and the 20 Inch x 10.5 Inch.
This one measures 16”x8.5” approximately.

I preheated it in the oven for even heat. But yes, they do, just watch your heat.
I like to put a sillicone mat under it to protect the glas

hey can you use a cast iron griddle on a gas stove
just do just put griddle on top of your hubs right
Yes it can be used on a gas stove. Just monitor your heat very closely.
@@DarwinYoung1969 so you just put it over the hub like when you put a pot
That is correct. And once again, monitor your heat closely. Low flame and take the time to allow it to preheat.
so put on hub bruns at low heat and on from 10 to 15 mins befor use
Monitor your heat, keep it low and slow.
Now that’s a thumb !

Do you notice any cold spots?
Only due to being spread across 2 burners.
What size is this griddle
9.5x16.75”
Why does the side of my griddle start smoking?
Can you be more specific? Is it oil? You mean on the stove? How long have you had it. Have you seasoned it yourself?
