Watch how this group started from ep 0 on their youtube channel. Their main vocal was like the 2nd choice after the initial vocal pick declined the offer due to busy schedule. Tbh their vocal was the least popular initially but now shes like most popular member. Her vocals hard carry.

I wouldn't take the documentary series as an indication of what really happened, I feel it was just for 'content' - I mean in the real world you wouldn't show people that didn't end up in the group. Also the Japanese girl isn't even a singer - my take is they filmed that because the girl was somewhat popular and that also goes for the Japanese bass girl because he was there to see Siyeoming anyway.
(and yes I followed since the first episode)
I think one of Kim choice was raon , a Korean youtuber who cover a lot of anime song but i am glad they choose si yeon instead , maybe based on personallity which is cheerful and kinda funny weird act

I really think that one of main reason why they are big on SK is how their CEO Kim Gyeran introduce them to the people (you can see it on their channel, you need to check it), that make people relate to them more and really the reason why I stan them, I want to see them succeed especially their vocal Siyoming whose been through a lot. They are doing all of this without music show promotions which is really impressive, really work hard on promoting through other means like going to different korean youtubers (big or small), schools, military, making events on their own.

harmony of stars was a hidden gem, you can react to the b-side too, there are pretty good songs too, especially ferris wheel, ferris wheel had the same energy like harmony of stars for me. and if you were curious how they made the group, you can check there channel, its on the oldest video (the first episode when kim gyeran (the one who found them all) approach chodan is on his channel)

i love this group man, their songs are so good. you hit the nail on the head when you're like how can the product be this good when all the circumstances leading up to their debut seem so random. i suppose they're basically an indie band and not in the kpop "system" so i can see why they're not gonna be all over reddit, though i think they're much more popular in korea especially because the members already have existing followings

The members are not without merit, Chodan majored in drums and has been singing for years, Magenta has been fiddling with the bass before this and also been singing for years I think there are examples of their singing on their respective youtube channels. As I recall Siyeoming was an idol trainee before she went to Japan. Hina is probably the one with the least musical experience.

If you love Chodan, you should check out Egg Kim's previous videos with her. The MVs don't show how badass she is. She used to box in the amateur circles and won 3 matches out of 4, two of those wins being a TKO. She used to be ridiculously ripped and actually worked to lose muscles prior to debuting

I'm not really a collector, with STAYC's We Need Love and Stereotype as the only album purchase I had since being a kpop stan. But with Manito I just had to. It feels different and chodan being the vocal of the last track is too divine.

Chodan did a lot of collabs with him so I’m assuming it had something to do with that. She was/is quite heavily into fitness stuff as well.
