In order to drive safely, and pass your driving test, you need to follow the rules of priorities on the road, and if another road user has priority you MUST NOT cause them to slow, stop, swerve or swear.
This includes, but limited to, priorities at meeting situations, junctions (including roundabouts), reverse parking and moving away from the side of the road.
As a general rule of thumb if another road user has priority and you cause them to slow, stop, swerve or swear you will FAIL your test and be given a serious fault.
Causing someone to slow, stop, swerve or swear when they have priority can be dangerous as they might not expect it, like if you are driving along and another road users pulls out in front of your, causing you to brake and possible get panicked or stressed.

In UK driving test is about how other vehicles are able to bully you and also about an examiner sitting next to you who will always favour the bully.
If another road user does something unexpected or not following the rules you want to prevent to collisions, so you need to anticipate their actions and drive at an appropriate speed so you can be a better driver and deal with the situaiton.
Black car one seems harsh seemed as though it was hard to see the car and speed until youre actually infront and can see behind you .... may be differently in the actual car though
There were a few black vehicles, do you mean at the t-junction?
in my opinion it was not harsh at all, from inside the car the black vehicle would have been very clear and visible, the candidate saw it, just failed to check twice and misjudged their speed, very common and very dangerous habit, causes many collisions at junctions. Think twice, decide once 🙂
One problem learners have is they drive around in lots of 30 mph roads. When turning onto 60 mph roads the vehicles might be twice as fast. Two looks are needed to asses speed and vehicles need to be more distant. Experienced drivers will also spot an Audi, BMW, Mercedes etc. and factor in they will likely be travelling faster. The mirror check in the new road will confirm how quickly you are being caught in this respect brisk acceleration is your only option. If everything is straight and car is in second in dry conditions I would floor the gas pedal to maximise acceleration. However I would not be in this situation unless I had made a huge miscalculation on emerge.
I have my test in march at Crawley is it possible to book a car from the actual test centre as I don’t have a car yet or what shall I do
The test centre do not supply cars, also it is unlikely an instructor will offer just car hire for the test.
Options:
- Find and instructor ASAP so they can assess your driving and do a handful of lessons to see if you will be ready for March, if not you can change the test date.
- If you can't find an instructor by the mid/late February then i suggest you cancel the test and rebook when you have found an instructor.
Crawley is a tough driving test centre, lowest pass rate in Susses I believe, without sufficient lessons with an instructor chances are you will not be ready.
Hi, about the parallel parking: when you are doing the parking manevure, is it not ok if a car approaches and stop if you are in the middle of your manoeuvre? My instructor always says, "just ignore them and finish the manoeuvre, they need to wait for you".
As with most things, it depends.
Consider:
- Will you moving block the other vehicle from getting around? (as in this video)
- Will moving potentially scare or put the other road user at risk? Create a safety bubble around the car, if someone gets within that safety bubble it's probably best to stop and let them pass.
- Is there actually room for another vehicle to pass you? if not then, probably best to continue, with caution, in case they start moving around you.
But overall remember when doing a manoeuvre then other road users have priority, so you should stop and give way where needed and appropriate.
Also consider this... if they stop, you move... if they move, you stop.
