    I have a peach tree and it has been dropping peaches, some each day. I'm actually glad I didn't thin it because alot have dropped on their own and I might still get a decent amount by the time they're ripe. So far no branches have broken. They seem pretty flexible.

    Great video! Thanks for addressing this issue again and in more detail. I just checked my plum trees the other day when I went home for break, and I could only find one plum that was still hanging. A single plum on a single tree out of three trees that were loaded with plums earlier in the year. Because of your advice I am not worried anymore. My trees will produce more in the following years when they mature enough to hold more fruit.

    Amen! Reminds me of what Jesus said about Father 'pruning' the branches. Control growth direction to the most prosperous for the branch, but also to preserve the branch. I didn't realize how important that 'thinning' is to the health of already flourishing trees.

    That's amazing to hear ! I feel like it's an abundancr thing ! Healthy trees many flowers and alot of pollinators ! hahaha the tree knows it ! It seems that your harvest is going to be good !
    I do have a question: is it possible to have another flowering branch from these in late spring-summer period ?! I've seen paul gautschi harvesting later in the summer in some more late blooms,does it takes for all your fruits or they only flower in spring ?!

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pluot that is in this video actually has a branch that is starting to flower right now but it is not beneficial for that to happen because there might be contamination of diseases from pollinators when the weather gets warmer.

    I have apricot tree that always drops all its fruit. We had 2 up until about a year ago. Ice storm split other tree in half. Both dropped all their fruit every year. Do I need to plant another apricot tree? Trim tree? Fertilize? Water?

    • @ZaatarGardens

      When I had fruit drop with my apricots it was due to low potassium and calcium

    have a Tanger. variety Michael. It's growing eight years. Every spring it flowers ,& the young fruit fall. There's a Internado lemon to one side,& a Mexican lime to the other so I can't blame pollen X. No normal natural fruit thinning here. I hear there's some kind of spay to correct this? Harmon? Any ideas.

    Thanks for the video. I have a plum tree and want to paint the trunk like you have with yours. Where can I purchase that product? Also when and how often should I apply fertilizer for my Plum trees? Thank you!

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All I did with the paint is white interior latex paint and water (50/50 mixture).
      I do not fertilize that much since a lot of wood chips over the years have decomposed but I at least fertilize twice a year in the spring and in the summer (foliar feeding with fish emulsion and seaweed)

    Our cara cara orange has hundreds of blossoms, as soon as the blossoms turn to fruit about a 1/4 inch they all eventually drop,

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How old is the tree, if it is under 3 years old it is common, if it is older then there are a few factors? Citrus is very temperamental, Extreme weather conditions can all of a sudden make citrus drop all of its fruit, too hot or too cold all of a sudden, too much rain or a drought can make it drop as well. Adding a 3 inch layer of mulch under the tree in at least a 3 foot radius may help. Also a nitrogen deficiency can cause this as well are the leaves yellow or yellowing? Heavy pruning or an infestation of pests can also cause fruit drop.

      @@ZaatarGardens Thanks for getting back, Its at least 6 yrs, we live in Coachella. what's a good fertilizer that I could buy at HD, or Lowes? I water 1, to 2 times a week.

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Especially this time of year water a lot less I would suggest once every two weeks especially if you got a lot of rain I wouldn’t water till mid March. But then again it depends on your soil if the first 3 to 4 inches is dry then water. Citrus are heavy feeders so I would suggest an organic citrus and avocado fertilizer (Jobes)

    First time I saw 5 plums on my tree this spring. But in few days as they were very small they started falling one by one they never fully grown and every year Japanese Beatles come on the tree. how can I make my plum tree healthier. The leaves were curling too. Can I do anything to improve these things for next year. I live in Toronto, Canada.

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So if this is the first time it produced plums, the first time any fruit tree really produces fruit it’s kind of like testing, it’s going to drop it anyways most likely.
      All my fruit trees used to experience what you’re experiencing as well with insects and curling, I foliar feed with fish and seafood onto the leaves

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it is under 3 years old, that is most likely why. Too much water would cause fruit drop as well. Ensuring that you have calcium in your fertilizer will help as well

    there's a channel for an AZ grower (I believe "Yesitwillgrowhere") who has come up with the ultimate fruit tree nutrient compost and whatever he feeds his trees, he rarely gets fruit drop and his trees are totally loaded up and he claims he gets them all to harvest. I'm sure he does thinning here and there however... but in ideal conditions your trees will handle all the fruit it starts to grow

      Citrus is a broadleaf evergreen they do not do well with heavy frost let alone snow. but if you have somewhere where you can protect it very well and it’s warm such as a south facing wall it may be OK but they do not like the cold at all.

    Do you leave the dropped fruit in place as mulch.?

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only if they are young and green if they started ripening a little bit I have to remove because they could be infested with disease or insects and cause a bigger problem later on

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fruit drop could mean a lot of things:
      1. Excessive Heat/Cold
      2. Too Much or Not Enough Water
      3. Not enough Calcium
      4. Changes in Humidity
      5. Tree is too young (typically under 5 years old)

    My plums keep dropping and nothing left on the tree. Do you have any idea?

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the plum tree is under three years old in the ground that is the reason why, if not you were either Watering too much Watering too little or gave it too much nitrogen
