Here's a tip to ship battles, Elliot: Be patient with your shots, line up the cannon with the target ship, and try hitting them in the front or back, to do more damage, all the cannon balls will aim towards the ship, as long as you line up the cannon. Aiming towards the back or front, will also give you more time to aim.
Id say watch elliot in a fighting game like mortal kombat, he kicks ass. Dunno why people point out FNAF for elliot though...that game is very easy with its patterns. Eh thats just my opinion tho
This is the most frustrating LP I've seen on this channel. Most of the complaints that I'm hearing would be resolved if someone would just pay attention to what the game is telling you what to do. Bentley tells you to aim for the front or back to do more damage. The game warns you long in advance when you need to buy an upgrade. It's all spelled out right there. I know that everyone can't be paying 100% attention 100% of the time, but you can't call a game out for bad design when you aren't following the instructions.
I'd even understand knowing some of the hints can be Vauge or the audio cuts out sometimes, but like I love sgb and respect all the groups, bsc sgb etc and sgb never had this problem, but it is frustrating and obnoxious to blame and criticize the game heavily when in fact they are basically just saying fuck all and not even listening to the game. And then oh because the glitches are so bad why listen or give the game more of a chance. I know these guys are not bad tho so it's just an annoyance it's not horrible. I just really hope when Johnny reviews these games when he gets to 3 he actually does call himself out and just says we weren't listening half the time instead of just criticizing the game for the same reasons with no excuse of hey live LP it happens because honestly that does happen you can't pay attention all the time in an LP. It's not even a thing limited to Sly Cooper, I remember that issue coming up in at least a few other LPs.

For as much as I love listening to these fools, they constantly talk over crucial aspects of the game, and then act offended when they don't know what's going on. Notably, I don't recall this being an issue in the first Sly commentary, or the first half of the second. If I had to guess, I'd say their relative inattentiveness can be attributed to the fact that they're three games into the series. They assume that they sufficiently understand the lay of the land(or sea) by now, and are thus above tutorials and the like. This wouldn't be such a problem if they even acknowledged the fact that the Sly series loves changing the game from right beneath your feet, and that they should probably have spent a touch more time paying attention, rather than complaining about the Panda King for the 76th time.

Well Matt if you were paying attention you'd know that the Red Sail Sea Dog Clan were supporters of Captain LeFwee and that by taking them out you are weakening the defenses that could be brought to bear when you make a move to rescue Penelope.
And I see that Elliot spent two weeks learning... absolutely NOTHING about how the ship works. Hit them on the front or back to do more damage. At least try to angle yourself so that more than two of your six cannons find their mark. Get the damage upgrade from the Deep Sea Danger mission. Come on, guys; there's no way you didn't notice the shitstorm in last video's comment section. Did you really learn nothing from all the comments?

Don't worry about Sly standing like he's on the edge of a platform while on the ship, it's in the original version not a problem with the HD remake. Great to see Sly 3 return on the channel! Your almost done with the game so hopefully the HD remake won't do anything stupid for the last parts of the game.
And yet another episode in which Elliot continues to say little about the game so Johnny and Matt are confused and plays very horribly causing everyone to be pissed at him. It's like Crash 3 all over again, cept it's us yelling at Elliot so he's not actually going to change anything. For Johnny and Matt, you were going after a group of pirates that work for LeFwee so instead of him calling for backup in the form of a pirate fleet, he's forced to use just the ships he has available.
If he didn't do any practice of this before just jumping into it i wouldn't be surprised. Come on Elliot you're better than that man do a practice LP of the game before you play it for the channel. I know time is tight but come on lol
Alex Mclean That's what I said on an earlier part, was along the lines of "I wouldn't be surprised if Elliot got done with Sly 2 and decided to record Sly 3" I mean he said his first playthrough of Sly 2 99%, seriously that's one bottle. Johnny makes it a goal to do most of his lp's to 100% but Elliot hasn't done that for any game (cept Crash 3 cause Johnny forced him).
Also don't get mad that Elliot doesn't 100% his LP's there is no right or reason that you should just because John CHOOSES to 100% most games he plays and even then it's only the games he loves and grew up with like the metroid games (let's not forget that I'll bring up an example, God bless his soul for it or not, that Johnny fucked up getting 100% in fusion and had to redo getting the last missile pack) if Elliot doesn't wanna 100% the games oh well, he doesn't do too many that are very satisfying to 100%. Alex Mclean Yes the bottles were hard to find, in Sly 4, Sly 2 has a good bottle mechanic, granted I had my fair share, when I was a kid and had first played. Once you playthrough you realize there's a noise when you're near the bottle, it doesn't pinpoint the location but it gives you the general area. Leaving Sly 2, the easiest game to 100% in the 4 games, at 99% on your first playthrough is something you have to go out of your way to do. Johnny's mess up on the fusion lp was he simply forgot, it happens. Elliot just plain gave up, one feet from the finish line and he says "I'm done" I'm saying that it's nice that Johnny goes out of his way for 100% on some games, and even Matt (if i remember correctly) Elliot seems like he won't do it unless he's absolutely forced to (i.e. Crash 3) I've said it on videos before, Sly 1 hard to 100% due to time trials being pixal perfect, Sly 2 is easiest in one go, collect the bottles, Sly 3 requires backtracking, low-hit runs, time trials, just some tedious things, Sly 4 is a fucking collect-a-thon, 30 bottles per level, a bunch of Artifacts, and 60 masks scattered throughout the entire game, including the final level. I know you're trying to White Knight Elliot but Elliot's overall playing skill is still "rather shit" to quote John.
Alex Mclean Also, people are not mad he's not going for 100%, no, people (including myself) are mad at Elliot cause he's not even doing a Let's Play, he's just playing the game (very badly) while Matt and John commentate, and Elliot not even trying to help John and Matt understand what the fuck is going on. I would say that if any true fan of this game (as in myself and many others in comments), if we were given 30 minutes with Matt and Johnny, we would do a better job than Elliot has this whole playthrough. I'm not trying to be mean to Elliot it's just that Matt and John have delivered a certain standard throughout their many LP's and Elliot is and has been falling short, he doesn't talk about the game, he's not doing things that would be helpful (i.e. get the cannon upgrades first then take out the Red Flag Sea Dogs (don't know if that was their name) so he would have an easier time). It's not just the Sly Cooper Series, it's been in the games that doesn't seem to be horror based. So if Elliot has to stick to horror theme games, and leave the platformers to Matt and John, then so be it.
Watching the Sly 3 LP up to now has been one of the most frustrating things I've ever seen in my life, right next to Elliot fucking up Super Mario World. You have no idea how many times he could have used a power-up or done something simple to get either to the mission, or finish it, and he ends up messing it up. I'm not saying I hate Elliot, he definitely has his moments, but in my opinion, he should tone down the screaming, pay attention and remember what he has in his skill set, and maybe stop with the annoying "too bad so fuck you" jokes. They're more like he's just being rude then jokes, since they're not even all that funny to begin with.
And Elliot goes for the mission where you need to fight a bunch of ships before the mission where you upgrade your cannons. Good job, for someone who supposedly played the game before you seem to have forgotten a lot about it.
The "Push Attack" upgrade makes the guarding enemies a joke. No matter if they're guarding or not, they cannot stop the power of my cane pushing powers(seriously, it's that good)! :3Also, upgrading the cannons with Dimitri's level (the underwater or deep sea or whatever it's called) is pretty essential because it actually does increase your cannons power (not sure how much since I went for that immediately when I first played the game) and makes ship battles (and if you want, money grinding) go by somewhat faster. Although, where you hit a enemy's ship with your cannons is still pretty important since it'll determine how fast you take out a ship.
I once looked up a diagram of a boat because I couldn't figure out what parts of a boat were called what. Google comes in handy when I'm trying to write my novels. I needed to learn about the architecture of boats to do a certain part, and now I know.

Piracy is pretty much the game apologizing for being so stingy with the loot the entire game and just dumps hundreds of coins at you for upgrades all at once. Not exactly how I would have done it, but once you get a feel for the flow of ship combat you can capture upwards of seven ships without dying and make thousands of coins. Also I never realized just how susceptible to the spin attack those pirate captains were. I would just KO them with the knockout dive and charge up a spin attack level 3 while they were out. Lastly, if you don't feel like checking the footage, you started the battle on the high seas in order to get the jump on Lewfwee's mercenary fleet before they could all converge on you at once. As I'm sure you wouldn't want to take on all 8 of those ships in a single battle.
+superluigi88 The game isn't really stingy as long as you take a few minutes each world to get the power-ups for each world. This level giving this much loot is basically to catch up people who were straight shooting the game like these guys so they can get at least SOME of the power-ups.
Yeah I just definitely miss having clear reason to scour the map like the trapped loot and clue bottles because now you're actively going out of your way to grind for coins instead of really exploring the map and getting bonus coins as you go.

Ugh, I keep seeing all these comments on how Elliot should be playing this game and I'm like...just stop. If Elliot wants to do things and play the way he does, then let him. We all play games differently and do things in different orders, so if he wants to fight a bunch of ships before upgrading his cannons then that's fine, he can. Also wow, the spin attack really does work well on the captains for the ships. I'll have to remember that. I usually use the push attack but the spin works perfectly fine too.

+Shadow Cat For good reason, tbh. They're failing to realize the most obvious parts of the game and complaining about things that were properly explained to them. Anyone paying attention to the ship section tutorials would know that hitting the front and back does more damage, the cannons don't require close range to hit their target, and that you can loot ships for more coins, which is also something they complained about in previous parts, and yet they only now take advantage of it because they happen to find out you can do that in this part. All of this is explained in the very first ship battle.

Some people can be horrible but if you're just mad that people aren't praising them stop. No one is perfect. There are legit criticisms and there are positives. If they are going to criticize the game sorta unfairly you're just gunna have to deal with people doing the same to their commentary. It's been two weeks since sly and crew got on a pirate ship blew up some pirates and got some booty too. Yesterday was residential evil 0s tale yet sly cooper 3 had pretty legit bad mute fails, yesterday sly and crew forgave SGB because it took two weeks for sly 3 to un fuck it's cluster fuck.
They're really easy, and it's a lot more fun when you have sly fully upgraded and boarding ships, taking out the boss in two seconds with the level three uppercut, ah childhood how I miss you so
Eliot is fucking up tremendously. Never ever fire broadside. Firing at the front or back of a ship once is usually enough to instantly end an encounter, even without an upgraded cannon.
To those complaining about Elliot's performance...Kid isn't GGDQ material. Huge fan of the series=/=Being able to play it perfectly. This isn't Johnny 100%ing Super Metroid. There will be lapses in logic and skill. Personally, I feel the commentary makes up for that since these guys do play off of each other well. And admit it, it was hilarious to see the game soft lock on Elliot. If they were expecting the glitches of this port to be that bad, it wouldn't be as funny...
That's more heartbreaking than infuriating to the watcher. Like how you are about to get 100% in Kirby Super Star Ultra, but you miss that one elusive treasure in Great Cave Offensive you don't know how to get. Bloody katana. Anyway, the point of my comment is that many people below me expect Elliot to know everything about a series he claims to love. They'd defend themselves by saying, "That's not what we're saying! We just want him to have the common sense to grind for upgrades and do things in order so he knows everything!" I mean, I love Melee to death, but ask me to wavedash, and you'll lose me. That kind of thing...

I'm sure that Johnny would feel the same if a channel bigger then his made Metroid look worse then it is by unintentionally getting lost for 3 hours. It isn't the players fault, but it is something that really isn't the games fault either. We all love these guys, but compare Sly 1 and 2 to this, and it seems like they are paying way less attention to the tutorials this time around, thus getting confused about mechanics. Again, it's not really their fault, but it is something that a viewer can understandably be frustrated by.

It's not like that either, Elliot has played this game before. I mean in the end I'm not mad it's just frustrating but there's always a fast forward on TH-cam videos and at least John like said ok let's just edit. But it's just one of those things like yeah I know I could watch something else but I wanna support them any way I can and even with fast forwarding I might miss a funny joke or a glitch. +Azure Phoenix Yeah, I thought so. What makes it worse for me is that up until now I had no real problem, but the ship battles I remember not being all that hard. Heck, it has been years since I last played this game and I believe I can still do better.
Can you really blame Elliot for doing poorly at the ship battles? 1. Elliot lose some of his cannons and you can't get them back until you die, so he can't do much damage. 2. Whether or not Elliot knows about that shooting the front of the ship does more damage, he needs to be precise in order to hit and if you miss, you have to wait for the cannons to reload. & 3. THE CONTROLS SUCK! You can't make sharp turns so it's hard to avoid enemy hits and if you shoot your cannons on one side of the ship, you either have to wait for them to reload or turn the ship around just to fire on the other side. I don't blame Elliot for failing at this, these ship battles are poorly done.
You only ever need to make sharp turns a few times, you can shoot the ships head on to save time and hmmmm it's like a real PIRATE ship THAT CANT MAKE SHARP TURNS. The controls admittedly are awkward and it still is a lame part of the game that was used to pad it out but you can't deny that he could have handled it smoother
I somehow doubt there's a way to make the process of turning a wide ship towards multiple other ships and attempting to hit them any faster, but go ahead, I'm listening.
thapoint09 It isn't how they move that is faster, it is how you hit them. If they listen to Bentley at the beginning of every single pirate battle he informs you that hitting the front and the back will do more damage. In fact, if they hit them in the back or front 1-2 times the ships would sink. It makes the gameplay a lot less sluggish and a lot more fun.

Here's a tip to ship battles, Elliot: Be patient with your shots, line up the cannon with the target ship, and try hitting them in the front or back, to do more damage, all the cannon balls will aim towards the ship, as long as you line up the cannon. Aiming towards the back or front, will also give you more time to aim.

This is the most frustrating LP I've seen on this channel. Most of the complaints that I'm hearing would be resolved if someone would just pay attention to what the game is telling you what to do.
Bentley tells you to aim for the front or back to do more damage. The game warns you long in advance when you need to buy an upgrade. It's all spelled out right there.
I know that everyone can't be paying 100% attention 100% of the time, but you can't call a game out for bad design when you aren't following the instructions.

I'd even understand knowing some of the hints can be Vauge or the audio cuts out sometimes, but like I love sgb and respect all the groups, bsc sgb etc and sgb never had this problem, but it is frustrating and obnoxious to blame and criticize the game heavily when in fact they are basically just saying fuck all and not even listening to the game. And then oh because the glitches are so bad why listen or give the game more of a chance. I know these guys are not bad tho so it's just an annoyance it's not horrible. I just really hope when Johnny reviews these games when he gets to 3 he actually does call himself out and just says we weren't listening half the time instead of just criticizing the game for the same reasons with no excuse of hey live LP it happens because honestly that does happen you can't pay attention all the time in an LP. It's not even a thing limited to Sly Cooper, I remember that issue coming up in at least a few other LPs.

And, yeah. For as much as I love listening to these fools, they constantly talk over crucial aspects of the game, and then act offended when they don't know what's going on. Notably, I don't recall this being an issue in the first Sly commentary, or the first half of the second. If I had to guess, I'd say their relative inattentiveness can be attributed to the fact that they're three games into the series. They assume that they sufficiently understand the lay of the land(or sea) by now, and are thus above tutorials and the like. This wouldn't be such a problem if they even acknowledged the fact that the Sly series loves changing the game from right beneath your feet, and that they should probably have spent a touch more time paying attention, rather than complaining about the Panda King for the 76th time.

And yet another episode in which Elliot continues to say little about the game so Johnny and Matt are confused and plays very horribly causing everyone to be pissed at him. It's like Crash 3 all over again, cept it's us yelling at Elliot so he's not actually going to change anything.
For Johnny and Matt, you were going after a group of pirates that work for LeFwee so instead of him calling for backup in the form of a pirate fleet, he's forced to use just the ships he has available.
If he didn't do any practice of this before just jumping into it i wouldn't be surprised. Come on Elliot you're better than that man do a practice LP of the game before you play it for the channel. I know time is tight but come on lol
Alex Mclean That's what I said on an earlier part, was along the lines of "I wouldn't be surprised if Elliot got done with Sly 2 and decided to record Sly 3" I mean he said his first playthrough of Sly 2 99%, seriously that's one bottle. Johnny makes it a goal to do most of his lp's to 100% but Elliot hasn't done that for any game (cept Crash 3 cause Johnny forced him).
Also don't get mad that Elliot doesn't 100% his LP's there is no right or reason that you should just because John CHOOSES to 100% most games he plays and even then it's only the games he loves and grew up with like the metroid games (let's not forget that I'll bring up an example, God bless his soul for it or not, that Johnny fucked up getting 100% in fusion and had to redo getting the last missile pack) if Elliot doesn't wanna 100% the games oh well, he doesn't do too many that are very satisfying to 100%. Alex Mclean Yes the bottles were hard to find, in Sly 4, Sly 2 has a good bottle mechanic, granted I had my fair share, when I was a kid and had first played. Once you playthrough you realize there's a noise when you're near the bottle, it doesn't pinpoint the location but it gives you the general area. Leaving Sly 2, the easiest game to 100% in the 4 games, at 99% on your first playthrough is something you have to go out of your way to do. Johnny's mess up on the fusion lp was he simply forgot, it happens. Elliot just plain gave up, one feet from the finish line and he says "I'm done" I'm saying that it's nice that Johnny goes out of his way for 100% on some games, and even Matt (if i remember correctly) Elliot seems like he won't do it unless he's absolutely forced to (i.e. Crash 3) I've said it on videos before, Sly 1 hard to 100% due to time trials being pixal perfect, Sly 2 is easiest in one go, collect the bottles, Sly 3 requires backtracking, low-hit runs, time trials, just some tedious things, Sly 4 is a fucking collect-a-thon, 30 bottles per level, a bunch of Artifacts, and 60 masks scattered throughout the entire game, including the final level. I know you're trying to White Knight Elliot but Elliot's overall playing skill is still "rather shit" to quote John.
Alex Mclean Also, people are not mad he's not going for 100%, no, people (including myself) are mad at Elliot cause he's not even doing a Let's Play, he's just playing the game (very badly) while Matt and John commentate, and Elliot not even trying to help John and Matt understand what the fuck is going on. I would say that if any true fan of this game (as in myself and many others in comments), if we were given 30 minutes with Matt and Johnny, we would do a better job than Elliot has this whole playthrough. I'm not trying to be mean to Elliot it's just that Matt and John have delivered a certain standard throughout their many LP's and Elliot is and has been falling short, he doesn't talk about the game, he's not doing things that would be helpful (i.e. get the cannon upgrades first then take out the Red Flag Sea Dogs (don't know if that was their name) so he would have an easier time). It's not just the Sly Cooper Series, it's been in the games that doesn't seem to be horror based. So if Elliot has to stick to horror theme games, and leave the platformers to Matt and John, then so be it.
Watching the Sly 3 LP up to now has been one of the most frustrating things I've ever seen in my life, right next to Elliot fucking up Super Mario World. You have no idea how many times he could have used a power-up or done something simple to get either to the mission, or finish it, and he ends up messing it up. I'm not saying I hate Elliot, he definitely has his moments, but in my opinion, he should tone down the screaming, pay attention and remember what he has in his skill set, and maybe stop with the annoying "too bad so fuck you" jokes. They're more like he's just being rude then jokes, since they're not even all that funny to begin with.

Now that I that I think about it, this reminds me of the Pirate arc of The Legend of Spyro Part 2.
The "Push Attack" upgrade makes the guarding enemies a joke. No matter if they're guarding or not, they cannot stop the power of my cane pushing powers(seriously, it's that good)! :3Also, upgrading the cannons with Dimitri's level (the underwater or deep sea or whatever it's called) is pretty essential because it actually does increase your cannons power (not sure how much since I went for that immediately when I first played the game) and makes ship battles (and if you want, money grinding) go by somewhat faster. Although, where you hit a enemy's ship with your cannons is still pretty important since it'll determine how fast you take out a ship.

Speaking of two week breaks. What happened to kingdom hearts 2 guys. I bought the game when you started the lets play and finished it in a week. Get it together guys :-)
They only took a break because they are aware that it's a long game and not all of their viewers are Kingdom Hearts fans. Lol. I heard they'll get back to it after Resident Evil Zero.
Piracy is pretty much the game apologizing for being so stingy with the loot the entire game and just dumps hundreds of coins at you for upgrades all at once. Not exactly how I would have done it, but once you get a feel for the flow of ship combat you can capture upwards of seven ships without dying and make thousands of coins.
Also I never realized just how susceptible to the spin attack those pirate captains were. I would just KO them with the knockout dive and charge up a spin attack level 3 while they were out.
Lastly, if you don't feel like checking the footage, you started the battle on the high seas in order to get the jump on Lewfwee's mercenary fleet before they could all converge on you at once. As I'm sure you wouldn't want to take on all 8 of those ships in a single battle.
+superluigi88 The game isn't really stingy as long as you take a few minutes each world to get the power-ups for each world. This level giving this much loot is basically to catch up people who were straight shooting the game like these guys so they can get at least SOME of the power-ups.
Yeah I just definitely miss having clear reason to scour the map like the trapped loot and clue bottles because now you're actively going out of your way to grind for coins instead of really exploring the map and getting bonus coins as you go.

There's no logical reason, other than maybe checking comments (which I wouldn't subject anyone to, so I doubt they actually read any of them) to look up the ship fights, or look something up that would mention that it does more damage if you hit the front or back.
He could have heard it from Bentley, but there are 3 people playing a seemingly-casual game where you mostly just DO without any need for tips.

Ugh, I keep seeing all these comments on how Elliot should be playing this game and I'm like...just stop. If Elliot wants to do things and play the way he does, then let him. We all play games differently and do things in different orders, so if he wants to fight a bunch of ships before upgrading his cannons then that's fine, he can.
Also wow, the spin attack really does work well on the captains for the ships. I'll have to remember that. I usually use the push attack but the spin works perfectly fine too.

Anyone paying attention to the ship section tutorials would know that hitting the front and back does more damage, the cannons don't require close range to hit their target, and that you can loot ships for more coins, which is also something they complained about in previous parts, and yet they only now take advantage of it because they happen to find out you can do that in this part. All of this is explained in the very first ship battle.

Some people can be horrible but if you're just mad that people aren't praising them stop. No one is perfect. There are legit criticisms and there are positives. It's been two weeks since sly and crew got on a pirate ship blew up some pirates and got some booty too. Yesterday was residential evil 0s tale yet sly cooper 3 had pretty legit bad mute fails, yesterday sly and crew forgave SGB because it took two weeks for sly 3 to un fuck it's cluster fuck.

They're really easy, and it's a lot more fun when you have sly fully upgraded and boarding ships, taking out the boss in two seconds with the level three uppercut, ah childhood how I miss you so
Eliot is fucking up tremendously. Never ever fire broadside. Firing at the front or back of a ship once is usually enough to instantly end an encounter, even without an upgraded cannon.
To those complaining about Elliot's performance...Kid isn't GGDQ material. Huge fan of the series=/=Being able to play it perfectly. This isn't Johnny 100%ing Super Metroid. There will be lapses in logic and skill. Personally, I feel the commentary makes up for that since these guys do play off of each other well. And admit it, it was hilarious to see the game soft lock on Elliot. If they were expecting the glitches of this port to be that bad, it wouldn't be as funny...

That's more heartbreaking than infuriating to the watcher. Like how you are about to get 100% in Kirby Super Star Ultra, but you miss that one elusive treasure in Great Cave Offensive you don't know how to get. Bloody katana. Anyway, the point of my comment is that many people below me expect Elliot to know everything about a series he claims to love. They'd defend themselves by saying, "That's not what we're saying! We just want him to have the common sense to grind for upgrades and do things in order so he knows everything!" I mean, I love Melee to death, but ask me to wavedash, and you'll lose me. That kind of thing...

+Shadow Cat It's more the fact that a lot of us feel annoyed when a game we love isn't properly showcased because of misconceptions. I'm sure that Johnny would feel the same if a channel bigger then his made Metroid look worse then it is by unintentionally getting lost for 3 hours. It isn't the players fault, but it is something that really isn't the games fault either. We all love these guys, but compare Sly 1 and 2 to this, and it seems like they are paying way less attention to the tutorials this time around, thus getting confused about mechanics. Again, it's not really their fault, but it is something that a viewer can understandably be frustrated by.
I'm glad this game has come back........but goddamn these ship segment are boring as all hell. They break the pacing of the game to a screeching halt
If they did Deep Sea Danger first this would have gone by a LOT faster
+Epic-Fran! Agreed. I remember the battle ships segment in AC3 & I hated those with a passion. Seeing this reminds me of it & makes me think 'I'm glad I didn't play this game.' At least Elliot earns more loot, so maybe he can get more upgrades.

I would stop harping Elliot about the Dimitri mission guys. It's not his fault he wouldn't know the optimal strategy or whatever, and I would think hitting the broadside of a ship would be effective as well. I don't think John, Elliot, and Matt have time to read comments from previous episodes.
But it is. The game literally tells you all the things he isn't doing. So I like Elliot but sorry it kinda is his fault that he nor any of them just said hey guys there's instructions let's actually listen so we don't waste time
Okay, I missed that the ship battle tutorial mentioned that. If it is there, than that is their fault. Getting angry that he doesn't know to get the cannons first still seems unfair though it's like telling someone who hates the ice palace the first time they played that it's their fault for not doing misery mire first, without any indication they should do so in the game itself. It's not like that either, Elliot has played this game before. I mean in the end I'm not mad it's just frustrating but there's always a fast forward on TH-cam videos and at least John like said ok let's just edit. But it's just one of those things like yeah I know I could watch something else but I wanna support them any way I can and even with fast forwarding I might miss a funny joke or a glitch. Ik it's nitpicky and Ik no ine is perfect or can play perfect every time but at the same time a "oh TH-cam comments are cancer we all are assholes so fuck that shit ima do what I want" kinda ideal is somewhat saddening
I forgot Elliot played the game before (Forgot the general rule of thumb that lets players have played the games they play in the videos). In that case, it is annoying for him to forget the cannons.

+Azure Phoenix Yeah, I thought so. What makes it worse for me is that up until now I had no real problem, but the ship battles I remember not being all that hard. Heck, it has been years since I last played this game and I believe I can still do better.
Can you really blame Elliot for doing poorly at the ship battles? 1. Elliot lose some of his cannons and you can't get them back until you die, so he can't do much damage. 2. Whether or not Elliot knows about that shooting the front of the ship does more damage, he needs to be precise in order to hit and if you miss, you have to wait for the cannons to reload. & 3. THE CONTROLS SUCK! You can't make sharp turns so it's hard to avoid enemy hits and if you shoot your cannons on one side of the ship, you either have to wait for them to reload or turn the ship around just to fire on the other side. I don't blame Elliot for failing at this, these ship battles are poorly done.

You only ever need to make sharp turns a few times, you can shoot the ships head on to save time and hmmmm it's like a real PIRATE ship THAT CANT MAKE SHARP TURNS. The controls admittedly are awkward and it still is a lame part of the game that was used to pad it out but you can't deny that he could have handled it smoother

It isn't how they move that is faster, it is how you hit them. If they listen to Bentley at the beginning of every single pirate battle he informs you that hitting the front and the back will do more damage. In fact, if they hit them in the back or front 1-2 times the ships would sink. It makes the gameplay a lot less sluggish and a lot more fun.
That makes sense, I guess.
This ship sequence is one of the most boring things I've ever seen in a videogame. Give me Ball puzzle from '06 over this please.
