Nice finds for sure. Nice to get quality finds like that. Lucky to live near such good history. Thank you for sharing with us. Keep the vids coming, I'm watching GL...HH.........
ThePhilandPam Hi guys, thanks for watching, I've always wanted to get a roman brooch, only had small bits of them before, couldn't believe it when I saw what it was, great start to the weekend, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Cheers, Paddy, this was a really good weekend, not been out for a while now but hoping to get out again before Christmas, thanks for watching, all the best, Ian.
Absolute spiffing weekend there Ian. Well done on all your great finds, it's great to see such productive fields. Had to laugh at the horse following you, they can be really nosey lol. All the best next time out fella, Rich.
RICHBISS Hi Rich, yes great weekend, seems quite a few people had to laugh at that little horse, couldn't help laughing myself a time or two, all the best, mate, GL&HH, Ian.
crabstick333 Hi Charlie, thanks, mate, was chuffed to bits with that roman brooch, belting start to the weekend, thanks for watching, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
huckfinnsj Hi Huck, yeah, it's amazing how you can sometimes head out in the fields and make finds spanning 2000 years of history so close to each other, absolutely fantastic and it's what makes the hobby such a lot of fun. All the best, GL&HH, Ian.
super finds Ian ,well done on the silvers. the gold ring is a stunning find ,interesting how it had been made bigger ,or been repaired at some point, all the best
SuperJammygit Hi, mate, thanks, some belting finds over that weekend, looks like a piece had been added to the ring to make it bigger at some point. Hope you're still finding good stuff, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
fifer Hi fifer, thanks, mate, some cracking finds there on the weekend, the queen Vic medallion was in very good condition, a very nice find, catch up with you soon, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Great finds there but its a major shame someone chose to hole the James II coin - twice! I'd have loved to been there for the coin bashing session too. GL&HH
***** Hi Ian, thanks, mate, hadn't found either of that type of brooch before so was well pleased with both of them, shame about the holes in the silver but, hey, not complaining. All the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Badger220455 Hi Rodger, thanks, mate, first time I've had one of those annular brooches, complete with the pin, not as old as your bronze age axe head though, all the best, mate, catch up on another dig soon, I hope, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
wow ian you had a few great hunts there that paddock was heaving with stuff liked the annular buckle and the cannon your buddy found also the commemorative token you had was in great condition take care john :)
TheJohn316uk Hi John, thanks, mate, really was a cracking weekend. That little paddock was a bonus field, Stu just got the permission on the Saturday so we had to go over and give it a go, was well worth the trip, lol, all the best, mate, GL&HH, Ian.
Great video and great finds Ian. I particularly loved the James II coin. I have only found the one hammered so far...James' father, Charles I. He was the King who was beheaded. I'm wondering if the reason why the James coin was holed twice was that it was used as a pendant by a Royalist ? Not sure...the Civil War was circa 40 years prior to when your coin was minted. However, the holes are neatly under the king's bust which suggests they didn't want to damage that.
Kevin Burgess Hi Kevin, thanks, mate, interesting point regarding the holes in the coin, will have a chat with Stu regarding that next time I see him, he knows an awful lot about various periods of history. Well done on your Charles I hammered, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Amanda Dale Hi Amanda, yes thanks, all well here. Brilliant weekend had by all there and I do like getting the buckles, something a bit more personal about them than just finding coins, though I'm never one to sneeze at a hammy or two, lol, all the best to you, GL&HH, Ian.
Great vid Ian with some lovely finds shame you couldn't have stayed on the first field for longer that would have seriously produced more finds, if you get on it again take the laser that should find the silver. :-)
Hi Steve, long time, mate, glad you liked the video. I have the field in on my calendar for March of next year, after the winter wheat has been harvested, looking forward to that. Will indeed take the Hawkeye as I'll have a bit more time to detect the field next time. Hope you and Hel are both OK, also the little 'tat people', all the best to you both, GL&HH, Ian.
penguin chick Hi Carla, was a great few days, but don't normally get so many finds in such a short time as I did on the Sunday, thanks for watching, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Stephen Bamber Hi Stephen, yes was a shame, but hey there will still be stuff there and I know where I'm heading to once his winter wheat is harvested. Thanks for watching, GL&HH, Ian.
