    The cedar looks amazing and your entire van will smell great all the time! Visitors will never know you poop there. I do have just a heads up on the composting toilet. The natures head has the worlds smallest fan in it and will always be overpowered by your ceiling vent fan. So if you poop don't turn on the ceiling vent or all the aroma will come out of the toilet and into the van. Probably while you're making dinner. I replaced our natures head fan with a HUGE 5 inch on the exterior of the house when our small fan broke. It made a world of difference. I also did a video on our channel if you want to check it out. It's called Tiny House Composting Toilet: Nature's Head DIY Fan Upgrade. Keep up these videos you guys are awesome and deserve a million subs!

    Cut one long peice of plexiglass to fit and use clear sealant to seal it around the edges or maybe cut it in many pieces in the shapes of your ceiling and stain them like a stain glass window and seal it

    • @teresawedgeworth4698
      @teresawedgeworth4698 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh and maybe only seal the top and sides in case moisture builds up behind it and it can drain out the bottom.
      They also have peal and stick stain glass mural that is water proof I think

  • @DaveBooda

    This is just a theory, haven't tried it but for a solution to the shower door water proofing... what about installing a 3-4" flap on a piano hinge that can close over the gap and magnet to the door? So you'd close the door, then close the flap. You couldn't do a similar thing on the bottom of the door too, but it would need to start from the door and flap down. Just an idea, no clue if it would work. Great video! Love the editing and the vibe.

    😆 You guys always crack me up 🤣. Very entertaining! However I am concerned that the final sanding you did to the shower removed the protective coating you just put on...

    • @dogcatmanvan
      @dogcatmanvan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sanding barely did anything. It just helped smooth some of the brush strokes out. We would've melted our hands off from friction with 4/0 steel wool before it removed all those coats of urethane.

    • @dogcatmanvan

      We did think about doing a barn door, but it would bump out into the hallway which would reduce our walking space. The black triangle is our chalk board, but frosted plastic would've been cool.

    • @Swimdeep

      Re: Shower door. Can you make the Nautilus Retractable Shower Door work? If the width interferes with the toilet coming out, you could recess the housing into either side.
      Or you cut a piece of plexiglass on floating hinges.

    • @dogcatmanvan

      @@dogcatmanvan Right. Left a comment on the plumbing video about that…What about attaching the seals to the inside of door itself? That way it could be left open to dry and prevent mold. Pro Tip for seals: Keep a small fine mist spray bottle of distilled white vinegar with your toiletries and spray on seals after showering. The vinegar inhibits mold/mildew growth and accelerates drying. 💦

    If I wanted a 24" wide interior in the shower,what size shower pan would I need? And would a wider shower pan affect the room in the van?

    • @dogcatmanvan
      @dogcatmanvan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can get a 24 inch wide shower pan and use thin wall material like FRP and you'll be very close to having a full 24 inches toward the bottom of your shower, but depending on the type of van you have, you're going to lose around 4 inches or more toward the top due to the taper. The bigger the shower pan, the less room you'll have to work with on the opposing side of the shower.

    • @277kne
      @277kne 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dogcatmanvan Thank you for your help.
      Do you have any suggestions where to get a shower pan. Would 30" wide be too large for the space? I like the cedar.
      I've found a few vans on line. One is a Sprinter with low mileage. And there were a few gas engine ones. The prices range for 2012 to 2014 is $39,000 to $50,000.

      A black tank is harder to maintain during the winter when temps drop below freezing since it's typically mounted on the exterior of the van.
