Tom Politzer and Lenny Pickett trading licks is epic! I love hearing Lenny firing off barrages of triple tonguing before hitting altissimo notes. And then Lenny's dance reminds me of Dan Aykroyd's classic Blues Brother dancing especially from Soul Man performances. Looks like the band had an absolute blast!
We first saw TOP in Cleveland Ohio at the Agora when they just released East Bay Grease. No one knew them, there were maybe 20 people in the audience. The next time they came back to Cleveland you couldn't get into the club. One of the greatest groups of all time and should be in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. They are real musicians and have "Soul with a capital S."
The saxes that ate the world!!! T.P. and Lenny Pickett! I was there!!! It was UNBELIEVABLE!!! Soul Power!!!!!!! I've been to more than 100 T.O.P. shows over the last 50 years and this may have been the greatest moment ever!!!!
Now that's the Lenny Pickett that I'm use too dancing around!! Brought back a lot of good memories when I use to go see TOP in the 70's when Lenny Williams was with them. Lenny Pickett wore those colorful outfits dancing his ass off, back then the horns section was Mic Gillette, Doc, Lenny Pickett, Greg Adams and of course Emilio. !!!
Tower of Power always has been and always will be incredible. TP and LP soloing back and forth during "Soul Power" should be placed in a time capsule so people a century from now can see how music is really done.
Yeah...Rocco is sorely missed - there's none like him, but Mark VW is doing an admirable job holding down the bass chair, and trying to fill those shoes. I'm a bass player, and I don't envy him at all coming behind one of the greatest players ever in a soul band like The Tower.....
Unfortunately I could not see if Dave Garibaldi is still on the drums after all these years. Every time I would see them live, I would always be mesmerized by his playing. His independence and his chops were just incredible. He never did a drum solo live, but ask any drummer worth his salt, and he or she will tell you Dave Garibaldi is one of the best of all time.
Dr Fauchi needs to get his ass in line and get a soul vaccination and quit aii this bullshit he's promoting. Open it up so tower can come back to my city. We miss them
Sadly, Rocco is in frail and failing health .....the touring is just too much for him now.....This brief appearance was more than likely his last with the band.

There is no horn band "tighter" than Tower or Power. Hands down.
Fifty years from now, people will hardly believe there were musicians alive who could play like this....and in Oakland!!! Love all you people!
Warms my heart to see Lenny Pickett up there. He was just a teen when he originally joined TOP. Still fabulous!

The great thing about this is, it's not just a gig - it is a party and that's what music like this was always meant for. Superb performance.
Drummer David Garibaldi has a hell of a foot especially on Soul Power
Great sax work by Tom and LP. And The LP shuffle !! LOVE IT!!
I don't think there's a more energetic and simply phenomenal sax player than TP on the planet. Unreal!
7 piece horn-section!!
Tom E. Politzer... LENNY! Oh Man, that was tenor madness! The most Educated Bump!
Been listening to these cats sinceb_68-69...ain't stopped yet kids better get hip
Baddest horn section for the time.Tight.**"***
And Lenny still dance like in the seventies...
This is the best sounding video I've seen or my ears are doing better today!!
For 50 years Emilio has been THE MAN!
He's looks Happy Bout That,too.
Yes, yes, agreed!
and an extremely nice man in person- very cordial
Maybe just the Best Music in my Lifetime! Boys.... Blow 'til you got to Go !!!

Bobby Kimball formerly of Toto sung that song with the band "Machine" back in 1973, He Killed it!!!
Wow! Smokin'! Even got Lenny Pickett dancing for old times! Great to hear the max. horn section, even w/a 'bone! None better @ what they do!

I agree Rocco is really missed. Just not quite the same without him. But Mark is the next best thing for sure
I was so glad to see Lenny do his dance!!!!
Yes!
Don't kick his feet quite as high or move quite as fast but neither do I. But he still kicks ass. I love the L P dance
What a great video, thanks for sharing.
Front row center for these guys this coming June! Been a LONG time... Used to go see 'um in NorCal a lot in the 80's!
Their horn section drives it to the heart of your soul
Love forever to Tower Of Power!
The most awesome group in the world !!
Then generated energy! This is Oakland soul/funk at its best.

Yes, DG is still there & true dat!
If you didn’t get a chance to be at this venue, hold on ‘cause the BIG 60 is right around the corner!
This is so Funked up y’all!!!
Better believe Lenny P has got soul. This is called unprotected SAX 🎷 !!!!!!
That whole battle had me coming down with saxually transmitted diseases! So disgusting!
@@ryanhallwrites -🤣🤣✌️
Thanks for this post! Grateful for TH-cam!
Qualidade não tem data de validade👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤
Increíble que lindo me muero.... Lo que debe ser estar frente a esas bestias piel de gallina
The Oakland Stroke is still alive and well!
Can't get enough of East Bay Grease!!
Always amazing.
Always Awesome.
The Bigest Sax Player--Lenny + Tom....

The camera man was having withdrawals.
Lenny is the man!!

Looks like Ray Green!!

So RIGHT😁
wow...seven brass player......!!
Great T Sax solos....but Tom's a better soloist all around.
Scatting wit a Capital S
Super banda soul y jazz
Emilio super líder
A México city solo vinieron una vez
No han vuelto Lastima
Ellos tocan instrumentos sin trucos. De verdad. Fuera chafas colombianitos, venezolanos y bandas max tramposos
Ojalá aprendan de este grupo
no rocco??
I'm sorry, but it's sloppy without the driving force Of Rocco. This cat's a good player, but he isn't Mr. Prestia.
...but remember we're comparing a top level pro to an irreplaceable legend. Kinda like subbing for Mike Tyson in his prime.
Couldn’t agree more. Marc WV makes Soul Vaccination sound like an uncoordinated mess.
Babe Ruth doesn't play for the Yankees anymore, yet millions still cheer for them.
Feel like being hit by a train....
who is trombone!
Ray Green...Former TOP singer...
Passe? Not this band! Who else could ask What is hip?
Why not HALL OF FAME!!!!!
Dr Fauchi needs to get his ass in line and get a soul vaccination and quit aii this bullshit he's promoting. Open it up so tower can come back to my city. We miss them
Where's Rocco prestia?
Sadly, Rocco is in frail and failing health .....the touring is just too much for him now.....This brief appearance was more than likely his last with the band.
He was too ill
Oh ok I thought I heard something about that
He passed away
