    I consider myself a Warriors fan and I am happy that Klay is gone. It sounds weird when I say it, but I think it's for everybody's benefit. Including Klay himself. I hope he will be able to "reset" his carrer like Kyrie did.

      From everything I’ve kept up on and read from insiders it just felt like it was time. The question really is tho, if Steph asks out next (i doubt he would but u never know), how would you feel about that? Just ready to turn the page to the next generation already?

    I love klay n was asking for klay as soon as season ended. I dont mind him starting but i would want klay to embrace a 6th man role maybe do a what Gaf n Live did just give them both 22-25min each.
    Reason being Naji Marshall needs to be out there to play defense to start the games. I watched Naji all season hes absolutely the biggest steal. I love klay but i seriesly think naji has all defense type of potential maybe im crazy. If Naji gets DJJ min hes going to be way better than DJJ its not even close

    3 things
    1. Need to modify offball movement on offense

    We need to Bring Dinwiddie if we go with a Guard to finish off the Roster. Gives us another Big play making guard. We needed another playmaker in the Finals. Dinwiddie bloomed and excelled in Kidds System already and has proven he fits like a glove. Need a guard to handle/lead the 2nd unit. Exum and Hardy aren't PG's they both are more so SG. If we go wing to finish it off. I would love to see us take a flyer on Saddiq Bey. Young long athletic Wing that still has Upside. That Dallas loved him in the Draft before they ultimately took Green instead. Bey was our rumored target. Coming off an injury he avg 14PPG 7Reb 2Ast with ATL this year. he's only 25 6'7" with a 6"11" Wingspan. If we could get him on the cheap and sign him to a 3 year deal like Marshall solidifies your wing deprh for years to come. then if ypu decide to move on in 3 years Marshall, Bey and Klay all come off your books at the sametime and will free up 30M+ to possibly go chase another younger budding star if you chose to go that route?

    • @ericknowsball
      @ericknowsball  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      i’m split between DSJ/Dinwiddie. Spence on the Lakers last year was not a great fit by any means and his comments on the Mavs were strange. neither of those things ultimately matter because last time he was here he was great for us, but they are things of note. if you want a guy like Dinwiddie, i feel like we have a younger, quicker, less good of a playmaking guard like him in Hardy, which is why i lean towards DSJ.
      as for Bey, i think the deal with him is he’s gonna miss the beginning of the season (1-2 months) and you don’t really know what you get from him after that. i think a younger team should take a chance on him, but the Mavs are trying to contend and rolling the dice on a guy like that could end up hurting you in the short term

    I imagine players really took notice that the Mavs made it the NBA finals as the 5th seed. In addition to Luka taking 2 different teams to the WCF and NBA finals 2 of the last 3 years.

    Mavs defence? My idea would be this starting five: besides Luka, Kai, and Lively/Gafford, put Klay on 4 and Naji Marshall (aka "the Knife") on 3 as the point of attack defender/enforcer... suddenly, it might look not that bad... Cheers from Slovenia!

      i hadn’t even thought about taking PJ out of the starting line-up but depending on the matchup you could be right if the other team plays small-ball. i think teams are starting to stray away from that a little more tho cause PF’s and some C’s can/are expected to space the floor

      look i get that you’re supposed to be your son’s #1 fan, like I get it. but Tim Hardaway Sr. is already an NBA legend and knows how a locker room works, that sort of stuff can create rifts between players. idk, it never seemed to matter for us chemistry wise, but it sure was annoying as hell

    I know that Spencer Exum Naji Gafford Grimes Hardy and Maxi are 7 options off the bench that most teams would love to have. That bench could give a team 25-30 points per game.

    I'm a Mavs fan.
    The reason klay chose Dallas over LA is because like it usually goes nobody in history outside of Ray Allen n AD have willingly left they're teams to play with LeBron specifically.
    No player in lebron's 20 year outside of those 2 have ever willingly left to play with the so called "GOAT". People need to stop bagging on the Lakers front office cuz its LeBron not the front office

    I don't view Klay as Hardaway's replacement, because unlike THJ, the Mavs will be hoping and expecting that Klay will be able to start and also close games, so in a sense he's more of a DJJ replacement... But then Marshall is supposed the DJJ replacement.... but Jones was on the top unit, and I don't think they want Naji on the top unit, they want Klay.
    Good to have multiple solid options... Kidd will figure out what to do.

    • @ericknowsball
      @ericknowsball  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      i view Klay as the THJ replacement purely because of the role, but also we gave THJ 4 years $74 mil to hopefully close games, he’s just so streaky and isn’t a great defender so that became increasingly less common

      THJ 27 reg Season minutes 14.4 PPG
      Green 26 reg Season minutes 8.2 PPG
      DJJ 23.5 reg season minutes 8.6 PPG
      THJ was the clear cut 3rd option untill the Deadline deals and completely lost his role to DJJ/Green in the playoffs. THJ was our 3rd scorer and a 6th man front runner untill January and while his minutes went down over the season, DJJ went up. Before the trades (and change in overall system) THJ averaged over 30 MPG, DJJ under 20! Yes, I also think Thompson will start and that will most likely be a slight downgrade in the starting 5 if it comes to defense, but a huge upgrade on offense. People do as if Thompson is now a coam on defense. He clearly isnt an All Defense level PoA guard defender anymore, but thats also not needed in our defensive system. Def IQ and effort are the key factors in Kidds system. Pre rotations, switches, running X-outs, fundling guards into help defense/rim protection... Here is an example: Can we all agree, that Wood (on paper) should be a way better rim protector and overall defender then Powell? Well, he wasnt in Dallas, cause he lacks effort and general understanding for defensive shemes. Hence why he was the worst defensive big on the Mavs in his season with us in Kidd's system.
      Overall I also dont think Thompson will play 30 minutes, even as a starter. I expect him in the 27-28 minute range overall. Becuase of his age and injury history Dallas will do everything to keep him as fresh and healthy as possible. Means play the first 4-5 minutes every half (while going all out on defense), then take some long pauses while Grimes/Marshall play their 20+ minutes on the wings, and depending on the situation (up by some points or down by some points) close out games (100% def effort again).
