Thank. You. He has so much trauma and backstory that no one pays attention to. Before all of this, his name was Taka (according to the book “The Tale of Two Brothers”). What happened originally,was that he trusted an anonymous lion that many call “strange lion” since Strange Lion told Taka that he would have more power. He tricked Taka and told his snake friend to give Taka a scar across his eye. Strange Lion had this scar across his eye as well. Strange Lion had more to tell Taka, but Taka lost control of himself (because of the venom of Strange Lion’s snake friend) and used the roar of the elders which knocked the two into the lava. Taka thought he got what he needed so he went to his brother, Mufasa. Mufasa merely nicknamed him “Scar” and left him alone. Scar felt unappreciated, hence why he used the roar to destroy the rest of the Lion Guard. He lost the roar after that along with the mark of the Lion Guard on his shoulder. Then, came the events of the movies.

Thank. You. He has so much trauma and backstory that no one pays attention to. Before all of this, his name was Taka (according to the book “The Tale of Two Brothers”). What happened originally,was that he trusted an anonymous lion that many call “strange lion” since Strange Lion told Taka that he would have more power. He tricked Taka and told his snake friend to give Taka a scar across his eye. Strange Lion had this scar across his eye as well. Strange Lion had more to tell Taka, but Taka lost control of himself (because of the venom of Strange Lion’s snake friend) and used the roar of the elders which knocked the two into the lava. Taka thought he got what he needed so he went to his brother, Mufasa. Mufasa merely nicknamed him “Scar” and left him alone. Scar felt unappreciated, hence why he used the roar to destroy the rest of the Lion Guard. He lost the roar after that along with the mark of the Lion Guard on his shoulder. Then, came the events of the movies.
I find every villain with their sad back stories absolute sad and I absolutely cry for the ones who are very evil. They don’t have a side backstory. I just hate them straight away.

I’d say Randal is kinda a mixture of both. In Monsters University, he was more of broken. A anxiety filled Freshman in college who was just desperate for popularity and to be with the “cool” group of friends and a frat. Who was just embarrassed one to many times by sully. Than felt betrayed by his former roommate and friend mike. Than managed to fall into peer pressure.
While in Monsters Inc he became Pure Evil. He started committing crimes like kidnapping, attempted murder, child abuse. He let some grudge from college control his life and pretty much lost his mind in the process.

Scar and Randall are more broken then they are pure evil. Yeah it’s messed up what Scar did to Mufasa but if you think about Mufasa must’ve always been the one first in line to be king. Scar was probably ignored and neglected like waste and that’s why he turned out that way. That’s actually how a lot of villains in movies / shows are made tbh. And Randall, you’d know he was a sweet guy if you watched the sequel. He only changed because he wanted to fit in and stop getting bullied like Mike was. After that Mike and Sully’s team beat his and the Scare Games and that caused Randall to drive into a sense of madness. All he wanted to do was not always be second best, but he took way to many sacrifices to try and accomplished that. That made him become the villain of the story.
