Okay but if I muted this, it would look like this was a much more intimate conversation. I feel chemistry exuding from my screen! I love you both, such beautiful women 😍
Dr. Sam converted me to an azelic acid believer. I have been using it for like 3 years and my skin is in great place. I really like to see these two amazing women hanging out and talk skincare ❤
I have closed comedones, rosacea and bad melasma and have been using over the counter 20% Azelaic Acid (AZclear from Australia) for 2 months. It's amazing. I'm almost at 'leaving house without makeup' stage (and I'm 58)
I use it every night after my retinol (as it's a cream type texture) and then yes, put a moisturiser over. I've just ordered some 'APAD' from Geek & Gorgeous as that's also 20% but it's more a watery consistency so I can put it on first and will bump it up to twice a day. @@emma-gt7jl
get a stress ball or some other tool to keep your fingers busy Cassandra. I am a lip picker. Lipstick helped me to get it under control. You will find something too. Some finger plays will keep your hands busy for sure
I’d known Azelaic acid was used for melasma and pih in acne sufferers but didn’t think it had anything to offer me. Until I saw Dr Sam’s first video on Azelaic acid and she explained so clearly it’s benefits for sensitive skin in general! I’ve been using the ordinary’s 10% Azelaic acid for the past 2 years and my skin has gone from super sensitive and reactive to mildly sensitive but able to tolerate retinol most nights and even ascorbic acid almost every day. I’d never been able to use ascorbic acid more than 3 or 4 times before I gave up. I had some tingling at first with the Azelaic acid, so I started slow. And I didn’t notice any improvement for quite a while but I’m so glad I just stuck with it. Thanks Dr Sam
Thank you so much for all the education you provide to us Cass! It's incredible to have brilliant, educated creators like yourself sharing information that would in the past have been $$$! Lots of love from Australia (where it's currently after 4am at the time of this video, so I should get my lil insomniac butt back into bed once this video is done premiering).🦋💜
Thanks for the video, Cassandra and Dr. Sam! Azelaic acid has been amazing for me in mitigating rosacea redness and a couple of facial dark areas from sun damage.
As someone's with very dry & sensitive skin, deep oil cleansing actually helps me soften and gently remove the very dry flakes of skin without irritating my skin. Then i follow up with treatment ingredients to help combat future dryness. But in the moment, deep oil cleansing is really helpful because I do it about 1x per week when my skin is getting very itchy. It gives me a gentle way to address that itchiness so that i don't start picking at my skin.
Maybe it's because I used a 15% gel and 20% cream, but azelaic acid caused itching sensations and for me that is worse than dryness. It is why I don't like using it on my face and prefer retinol or adapalene.
Thank you so much for your content! I heard of azelaic acid being awesome for PIH, used it, and absolutely loved it and it's part of my skincare routine
I use azelic acid and my skin seems to love it. I use the one from the ordinary but I hate that it peals no matter how much or less I use it so I would use it only at night time. But $60 for a azelic acid serum is a bit too much for me. I am sure there are way cheaper azelic acid serums as good as hers.
Correct me if I'm wrong. There really isn't alot of data for efficiency of azalaic acid below 15%. So why use an over the counter less affective products?
It’s great to see you two together ! I wonder if azalaic acid good for me . 🤔 I don’t have acne but you can see veins quite clearly under my skin in the lower cheek area .
A derm once asked me to stop using azelaic acid saying that it's only worth using for severe cases of acne and rosacea, but for more mild cases it does more harm than good, since it dries and thins the skin out Do you think it is a valid concern?
@@CelesteGarcia71991all the options we have in my country are over the counter, and there aren't many. We usually have at least 10%. I was very confused 🤔
Being honest, I'm not sure. I watch a lot of derms and none of them have ever said this, so I want to say maybe it's not a real concern, but maybe like the other commenter said, the derm could have been referring to prescription strength. (Still never heard a derm talk about this though, at any strength.) I have mild rosacea (type 1) and over the counter azelaic acid has been the best thing I've ever done for it. I'm no longer constantly red in the cheeks or have blood vessels visible all the time. I also don't experience irritation from other actives nearly as often anymore, or really irritation in general. It is very rare now that I experience any irritation, redness, or visible blood vessels (Also, I use the Peach slices azelaic acid.) I will say this though, while it's been a miracle worker for my rosacea, it hasn't done a thing for my acne. I have seen a little bit of skin smoothing, and I do think it has helped mildly with hyperpigmentation, but the rosacea is what I have seen the biggest results with, if that helps.
I have a question, but first, let me say I’ve been following both of you, and the giggly info was delightful. So- I’ve had broken capillaries on my cheeks, and my nose, since the spring from micro needling. And now my skin has become a bit reactive. I’m 53, I’m perimenopausal, my skin is really dry, I have a lot of premature aging because of a lot of sun exposure, though I don’t have hyper pigmentation or acne . I’ve been using azelaic acid 10%, which actually also has some salicylic acid in it, which I did not know until somebody pointed it out to me. I have not been using it over the area with my broken capillaries. Which Azalaic acid product of yours should I use? I use retinol .3%, just for a few months , but I’m not using that over the area with my broken capillaries. Would love some guidance.
I have been using azelaic acid for years I love that shit. I have cystic acne and if my skin gets stripped, sensitive, angry, sunburnt, retinoinized(?), you name it, I can always use that shit. I swear to God it's fixed my credit score. It's like my fairy godmother.
What about aPAD or Azeclair, a azelaic acid derivative that is easier to formulate into an elegantly textured product. Is it as good for rosacea? Are there skin conditions where it is better or worse?

Your health and skin would improve overall, and acne would be non-existent if you embraced a PROPER HUMAN DIET, which is more of a keto carnivore diet. If you research it, you will find humans are NOT vegetarian
BRUH once I got help for my ED and gained weight, I've had more acne than when I was even a teenager. My derm said it could be the weight gain plus just putting a bunch of food into your body that is simply not used to. Food does correlate with acne, so once you start eating a more diverse diet, your skin can freak out. Just like your body freaks out and stores the fat because it's concerned another famine will happen.
