I wouldn't say cash is such a necessity in Japan anymore. I just returned to Japan after ten years away and paying by phone/apple pay/apps is now very prevalent and things are going slowly more cashless. Apps for train travel too so pasmo/suica cards are slowly disappearing. You can even apply for a Japanese Post Office / Yucho bank account using a smartphone app. Things have definitely moved on since the last time I was here. Also, as you're also non-Japanese, no-one will expect you to have a Hanko/stamp. A wet signature via pen is good enough. If you're native Japanese though, yes, a hanko is kinda expected. Please enjoy your time in Japan.
Hi L. Crawley! That's a good comment! You can definitely pay with a phone - but I lived in China. That's not even close, you just ... It is hard to explain how much of a gap that is. Btw where were you when living in Japan?
@@Life_In_Japan_Mikhail_Vatsura I'm interested in the answer to the question. From what little I know, to create a WeChat account, you need an "invite" from someone who already has an account. Is that right? Are there certain criteria for someone to be able to invite you?
Not sure about the requirements now. I remember trying to add one of my friends and it didn't work out. On the other hand, a guy from the US had no issues installing it and registering by himself ...
Great video! What I'm missing is an analysis of the quality of public spaces. In China these may be big, outlandishly big, and over-the-top modern. But are they ever cozy? Do you ever feel warm and safe and at home? They still remind me of the Stalinistic 'let's make the individual feel really small!' mentality. In my view, Japan has the better, more 'human' cities, and also a much more typical and beautiful countryside.
Hello Yan! That's a topic for a seperate video I guess ! In China those are huge! Massive squares! They do look a bit empty during the day time though, not gonna lie. But , when people gather - it is a unique experience - I am a foreigner, but I feel like I am a part of that and I love the feeling! In Japan though it is more private and the playgrounds look sad , really sad ... Also lack of greenery compared to China again. Have you visited any of those countries?
Hi EnragedKimchis! Your feelings towards Japan are much appreciatd. I heard you. And I hope you understand that is not the place for political debates. And with that I would encourage you to be more kind and polite towards everyone. Thank you for you comment.
I work in a store in Spain, and is so ironic how Chinese people NEVER pay with their phones or credit card, always in cash. They are not stupid, and they value their privacy when they are given the option.
It's because it's simply not possible to pay in Spain with phone. Wechatpay does simply not work in Spain. Cash is uncomfortable compared to it but then the only possibility left as most Chinese hardly use cards which much more uncomfortable to use. So your guessing is not right here.
First, Visa and Master are not operating in China so they don't have those cards that they can use in Spain. Second, I guess their mobile electronic wallets wouldn't work in Spain. So, their only option is cash. Chinese can use cash in China. It just that no body use cash anymore because mobile payment is too convenient.
In Japan you can speak your mind without being arrested by the secret police without trial. I would say that's a big win lmao. You can keep your phone payments 😂😂😂
I will turn 60 in 2029 and it´s the year of the rooster ( I´m a rooster ) . What city can you recommend to go to for celebrating the New Year in China? I´m not a big fan of big cities. Living in Sweden, in Linköping.
Hi Alice! That's sounds like something a Japanese person would do. I mean planning for 5 years in advance hah. But for real, I don't recommend going during that period - the Chinese New Year - especially if you don't like big cities, probably you don't want to see crowds of people - and ironically that what it's all about - sea of people as the Chinese say "people moutain, people sea". But if you still sure you want to go - put Guilin on your list! I recommend visiting Yangshuo. (haven't been myself, but it's on my bucket list) Btw Linköping looks so cozy - what would you say you like most about it?

Hi Mikhai, unfortunately I've never been in China or Japan but I have it planned. Answering the other questions: Mangas are japanese comics books while manwhas are Koreans. Wuxia and Xianxia are genre of novels, came to notoriety in the west thanks to websites like wuxiaworld. In wuxia novels the hero threads more in military settings, in Xianxia novels the hero is cultivate his prowess to become an immortal, followind the path of the dao. In both settings there are references to China's history, religions and mythology (ex. the 4 ancient beast: white tiger, azure dragon, vermillion bird, black tortoise, reference to journey to the west like the Heaven's equal great Sage Sun Wukong., ecc...)
@@missplainjane3905 Personally I think that mangas have a broader range of genres and stylistically are more variegated (you can compare One Piece, Bleach, Berseker, Death Note, Evangelion, Slam Dunk just to name a few...). From few videos several years ago how Fax machine, Compact Disc and the CD players, and Pagers are still popular and used... I was shocked. It's like they advanced so much during the 70s to 90s and just slowed down after the 2000s..
Yeah, things move a bit slower here, but I think it makes it more interesting. Something you can only experience in Japan. It's like time stopped here.
China loves stamps, Japan probably even learnt it from China....China is faster because time is on their side, the rest of the world took time from 1960s-2000's in developing tech slowly, but when China is coming out of their own self imposed isolation, everything already there, the know how, the tech, they just basically jump in time. Japan have their creativity that China can't match. Both countries have pluses and minuses, I love to go to Japan for holiday, but I will not live there, the social rules are just not compatible with me. China is more rigid in rules but I can live there, but to visit for holiday... maybe not
