To say that they can see 99% of the chess lines is a bit of exaggeration, i think. The number of chess variations is said to be comparable to number of atoms in the universe. What might help them to reduce the number are deep opening theory, tactical skills, general strategies, etc. Even that, i think it is impossible for a human to eliminate 99% of bad variations.

Brave to play the Benoni, which is considered somewhat unsound. As an expert I love the analysis here, for example @17:32 that this is a win for white, when you would think black can defend, but I guess the imbalanced pawn structure on the k-side allows a breakthrough by white. Also the decision not to play like Tal by Hiikaru in a short 2 game match is understandable.
