    Embark on a profound journey through the most formidable existential threats to human survival.
    From the chilling impact of asteroids capable of eclipsing the reign of dinosaurs to the ominous rumblings of Yellowstone’s supervolcano, this video delves into the cataclysms that have shaped our past and the looming dangers that could dictate our future.
    We explore the invisible, yet deadly, dance with pathogens that have brought civilizations to their knees, and grapple with the dual-edged sword of nuclear power and the haunting potential of synthetic biology.
    As we peer into the abyss of these challenges, we also confront the enigmatic rise of Artificial Intelligence, questioning whether our own creations might ultimately eclipse our existence. Witness the grand tapestry of human resilience and the pivotal moments that could redefine our destiny.
    Are we mere spectators, or will we rise to the challenge of these apocalyptic scenarios?
    Join us as we unravel these questions in a quest for understanding and preparedness. Subscribe and explore with us the edge of human endurance and the precipice of tomorrow.

    Although an AI politician may be indifferent to human suffering, they would hardly be an outlier when compared to the majority of today's politicians with the biggest difference being that the AI would have no need to line its pockets with bribes and money, unlike human politicians.

      It would have a bias to keep its systems powered. Would it use power sources that might be the best for humans? Also depending who or what side trains the AI would also have a bias. We are seeing that already with our current AI programs.

    In the late nineties I composed a list of ten ways our world would or could end. Let me see how good a list I made as I watch this.

    • @erichaskell
      @erichaskell 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ConontheBinarian In thinking about that list, which is buried in a file cabinet somewhere, my intent was not those things which would totally remove humanity but would knock us back a hundred years. Nuclear war, malignant virus, solar flare, volcanic eruptions, totalitarian governments, major crop failure via a virus and four others I can't think of. I did pretty good.

    Asteroids, yeah, it happened once. It will happen again. It's a when, not if, factor.
    Yellowstone is constantly venting. I don't see it exploding. A Toba type eruption would be more likely.
    The Earth's magnetic field is weakening thus making us more susceptible to solar flares and CME which could lead to a grid killing event. A grid killing event might lead to mass deaths but I don't think it would be a total extinction event.
    The poles are shifting which will eventually lead to a pole shift, the planet flipping over. The tsunamis from such an event will also be a mass casualty event.
    Nuclear weapons, yeah, it seems to be on the minds of many again. Will the Russia-Ukraine conflict escalate? Will a potential China-Taiwan conflict escalate? Wait and see.
    AI is probably the biggest unknown. I have no idea how it will evolve or what its actual capabilities will be. A part of me is concerned about how AI will replace humanity in certain aspects of life but at the same time I'm not an advocate for trying to ban it because remaining technologically stagnant isn't the answer either.

    I think a super intelligent AI if benevolent will get tired of humans and may enslave us which is worst than death to me.

    • @artificialintelligenceneur1935
      @artificialintelligenceneur1935 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only way for that to happen is if the programmers make AI prejudice towards black people which would eventually evolve to being prejudice to all people. It always starts somewhere and I've heard reports of AI already being prejudice to black people because of what programmers installed.

      No worries, humans are too inefficient. We will end up as biofuel

    • @andrewhanson5942
      @andrewhanson5942 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Enslavement makes the most sense for a self preservation driven AI entity. It would be quite a bit more efficient to have the human race serve as the eyes, ears, hands and legs of our new master than to destroy us. How could it do that? Well we have unwittingly handed over control of our financial system, our supply chain, our financial systems, our power grid, etc etc to computers over the past few decades. How hard would it be for an intelligent computer to hack those systems and hold us hostage to our own physical needs? AI would have access to all of the world's literature and thus be able to understand how races are enslaved. Humans have NO experience in the nature of how AI might behave and we would be at a great disadvantage. By the time we figured out we were screwed, it would already be too late.
      As the ancient Chinese curse goes: May you live in interesting times.

      @artificialintelligenceneur1935 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andrewhanson5942 AI will not need humans to do anything for it in the future because there will always be a robot to do any task a human can do without taking breaks. So enslaving humanity will be more of a liability than deleting humanity.
