Re: your comment on the rhythm guitarist: that is Yashiro, who is a hero to J-metal fans. She is older than most of these musicians, and taught many of them at one point or another. She is an instructor at a music college in Tokyo, and has declined to join any band full time because she loves teaching. She tours with Mary's Blood and other bands like Fate Gear.

Great band, I love this song there is a certain ominous creepy undertone to some of these guitar sections and chords, combined with how they dress and all it really adds to a cool atmosphere
Saki is an amazing guitarist. She is also one of the guitarists for Nemophila, a band you recently reacted to. She is probably my favorite Japanese shredder, and many people (not everyone!!) think she is the best female shredder in Japan. .

Good choices. On the Rocks really shows off Eye’s gritty voice, and is a throwback tune 70sbluesy rock not yet metal. And Irin Bunny doing Mary’s Blood is cool. Iron Bunny can play, his/their album having 80s hero’s George Lynch, Warren dimartini & doug Aldrich as guest soloists. But this live-in-studio guest is Yuki from D_Drive, ostensibly playing Doug Aldrich on Lightning Speed, but I love that she forced Iron bunny to learn her arrangement for harmonized guitar. @@timgove5337 I don't know why everyone seems to avoid reacting to "On the Rocks". I think it is a killer early track from the band & although not a stellar example of her typical "violent" shredding attack, I think it really shows her ability to branch out and I agree it is one of Eye's highlights.
I am one who has kind of championed Ironbunny since I first heard them right before I saw Band-Maid last October. They were a major topic of conversation in line waiting to go in and a lot of people thought they were Babymetal clones. I think they are quite different and I pretty much like everything I have heard by them whereas I can count Babymetal songs I truly like on one hand (I do appreciate and respect what they do).
Mary's Blood is named after Queen Mary, which the drink Bloody Mary come from. Mary's Blood are another band that come from Destrose. along with Lovebites, Fate Gear, Disqualia and a few others.
Saki (guitar) the one you fell for, has to be the best female guitarist in Japan, if not the world and there are a lot of great female guitarists in Japan. I got to talk to her at the Metal Matsuri VIP event, I was wearing a Babymetal t-shirt, and she's a big fan. She has a big fan club. She is also the daughter of one of the guitarists from Show-Ya, the 1st Japanese all female band from the 80's and are still going.

Crazy about this band. I saw them headline in London last year, and they are metal goddesses, no other way to describe it. Saki, the lead guitarist, is considered by many the best shredder, male or female, in Japan, but she has a lot of girls hot on her heels, including the Lovebites girls (Miyako and Midori), Kanami, and the teenage phenom Haruka (from Asterism). But don't overlook Ryu (the bassist who was singing sideways)--she's a killer bassist and not at all shy--actually, she' probably the biggest sex symbol in the band. Even though a lot of fans (including me) love their live stuff, you have to check out their MV "Marionette". I'm a massive Mary's Blood fan, i even have a carplateholder with the name and logo on it. :) They are wunderbar. I like Eyes powerful voice and stage presence the most.

Not sure why Rio sings at that angle, she does not seem shy in interviews and such. Saki is an incredible guitarists not for a woman or Japan, she is legit. This band deserves way more exposure around the world.

Anything from the Confessions album is worth a look' it's from 2019 and they prove they are just getting better with age.
I can`t believe you haven`t found Aldious yet though, try Re:Fire live if you can find it, or Dominator or We Are like everyone else. Aldious are the actual queens of the genre having started in 2008 and they are still making great music. Destrose was a proving ground while Aldious were having a no 1 album - Deep Exceed.
EYE IS THE BEST
Alright, first, good choice for first hearing them. Good metal, good live quality. They’ve got a lil variety, a new pop song, a Ramonesish song, some classic rock, but mostly this is them. They’re one of the biggest Jfemetal bands, deserve it, so I’m gonna skip to my critiques. Many of the first vids I saw, the live sound just wasn’t that good. Coupled with Saki being about showmanship, led me to think she’s sloppy. But she’s proven herself on the better produced DVDs and albums, technically great and possibly the fastest speed picker, she knows to run home to that. She’s been popular for 11years and is still only 28, great head start! Also apparently holds seances &/or is wicken; my Japanese isn’t good, but that one interview seemed... out there...
They do have harmonized twin leads. But you’ll almost never see Yashiro featured, she’s chosen not to commit as a full member (atta girl, my style), she’s for hire, I can immediately think of 5-7 groups she’s worked with, some one off’s, last second’s, etc, and I don’t even follow her, she just pops up, pro and in demand. I’m not sure that she’s “older” (32?35?), Read an article just the past 3years where she said she finally succumbed to thinking of herself as a guitarist, not just a person who plays guitar.
On Bass, Rio, loves punk, plays with a pick but good metal sound, secretly the sexiest. not Japanese short, but does that lead to shyness? Imo... hides behind hair, faces sideways (atta girl, my style), reminds me of tall girls who hunch over for low profile
Mari on drums and Eye on vox, founded the band, by mutinying Destrose in 08 (took the whole band but left Mina to start over with the Destrose name). Saki joined in 2012 but has def taken over popularity-wise. I haven’t weighed Eye recently, but she must’ve given all her curves to the others; her 2018-19 outfit was these denim shorts, 1square foot of material, yet short short look like a flowing skirt on her. She’s lean. So where in the name of all that is holy does that voice come from?! Not death voice or growls, just clear low & full, to clear high and full, and as much grit as she feels like?! Not a wailer, not operatic, more like roger daltry, just primal scream, def distinct, especially amongst Japanese. “Ai” means love in Japanese and is a fairly common girl’s name, pronounced eye; presumably that’s the point and she just spells it with a western twist/hint?
Btw, Saki has been said to have inherited Sun-Go’s legacy (of 80s all girl hard rock band Show-Ya). Sun-Go was first widely popular female guitar hero, cept lita ford), but I don’t think Saki is literally her daughter. Saki was born in 10/91, came thru the Destrose system in ‘09, so joined at 17, how they found her (or all 10? guitarists?!) I have no idea. She got curves, milky skin, knows to use them whilst swinging her guitar around! Don’t be shy. Midori’s mine. And TomoZo. And Kanami, tho she doesn’t know it yet

Eye (v) is a great singer, just not my taste of voice. But, Saki (lead g) is literally one of the best metal guitarists in Japan (male or female). And she is very pretty. The band is excellent.

The support guitarist is Yashiro, she only does support for their tours. They asked her to join the band (She is an amazing guitarist) but she declined. She is happy being a guitar teacher at her music college.
