This is a great video for anyone looking to install Starlink. I will be mounting the dish at my house. The facia board will be my "Van" side and the "Dish" side will be a short CAT 5 cable to the dish. If I have to take down the dish it is no problem. If necessary the cable can stay with the house. You can buy a new cable or use the residual cable to make up a traveling spare cable. Thanks.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm using the same weatherproof RJ45 panel mount, and I was worried about it being unshielded. Looks like that won't be an issue.
Nice install. I’m planning a similar install on my Sprinter Van but ran across conflicting info regarding the quick connect waterproof rj45s. Mostly regarding shielded/unshielded. I ordered a similar one to yours and hoping it works out as well. I’ve never done an rj45 jack so I hope all goes as smoothly as your install.
@@MooreDoing sorry, total newby question. When “matching” are both ends terminated to the same 568b standard ? It seems a bit illogical since when I put the two RJ45s facing each other, the wires aren’t “spliced”, but seemingly reversed. I suppose the jack these get plugged into adjust for this ? Thanks.
@@craigmcneill1916 No standards required. The only objective is to make certain your wires match relative to your chosen plug/coupler type. Since I terminated mine with two male RJ45 connectors and connected them together with a female/female RJ45 coupler, the pin-outs were a mirror of each other. So if I started with solid green on one connector I ended with that color on the other connector.
Great video!!!! Have you had any issues with the connector you recommended? Looking at the pictures and the questions on the amazon listing it looks like it does not support POE and has no connection for the shielded/drain wire. Thanks
No issues. Have used it several times now with no hiccups. Just last week I was in Key West and used it throughout the week with multiple disconnect/reconnects (in reference to the adapter). Works like a champ.
Would have been even better not to hardwire the router to the socket but add another connector so that the system can be deployed away from the van without the need for an additional cable.
I agree but I was purchasing another cable as a backup anyway in case there were support issues and Starlink Tech support insisted the issues were related to modifications. I've been in those situations before and you cannot give them an inch. Had I not covered the backside of the adapter with silicone I could possibly have unplugged it from behind and purchased a RJ-45 butt connector to reconnect the cable outside of the van. 👍🏼
I feel you, when you cut that over $70 cable...lol...great video, and great ideas, I might borrow some of those for my setup, thank you.

Just match the wire colors and you're golden. 🍻

Good job!
What to do about the 9th stranded cable in the cluster?
Hi there, I have the CAT5e cable. Would the pass through work with that, and would you be able to refer me to a wire diagram?
