Even though I watched all of these videos as they came out nine months ago, I always seem to find myself back watching them again. Must be because they are so amazing!

Dublin seems to be a city of freedom. One of the few places in Europe. And in the world, of course. According to comments. It's like the rebirth of the '60s. If it lasts for two more years, Dublin will become a Mecca for musicians around the world. Hundreds of young and promising singers from around the world will move to Dublin. Or has it already happened? Dublin streets will become a measure of success for world-class voices. Music competitions? That's history. The measure of success is now Dublin.

Allie is not the central thing here. This is a beautiful, amazing thing. If she is going through a bit of life, and I don't know one way or the other, but that is just her bit of life. It does not detract from the wonder going on here.
I need to visit back home for few weeks and see how things have changed in 30 Years. Maybe, bring my daughters and get a work permit to busk in Cork or Dublin. Busking is nearly non-existent here in the US and, when I do see it Patrolling through our State's Cities(State Patrol). Buskers here are usually just junkies looking to make a quick buck for their next high.There is no real pride in it. I have to clear them out, at that point or, arrest for Public Nuisance - if they do not clear out. Private Businesses do not like them on their property either, since they bring in that trouble.
In rare cases, I have come across a Homeless Veteran busking and trying to get off the streets/make some kind of living. I will help them the best I can and find a safe place for them to sing(higher end bars/clubs) - until, they can get back on their feet.
I love what you do Gray. It's sad to hear that's the situation there, it appears to be the same in many parts of Europe. I hope this channel can show that a healthy busking scene with talented musicians who love what they do can bring a vibrant and fun atmosphere to a city which benifits citizens, businesses and buskers alike. @@dublincitytoday Thank You. I retire in December. So, maybe; I will be able to visit in 2020. I grew up in the Gaeltacht in Uladh with the strong Gaeilge folk song tradition there and, have passed those songs and traditions down to my daughters, despite not being home. I moved to the US when I was 18 because The Troubles and Cross Border attacks were still happening.
Most would say the non-Busking Culture is the way American Cities are laid out and spread out from one another, and with the fast paced life here, but there is a much darker truth to it.
DHS Reports to us State Agencies from 2016-2017 said to investigate any street performers for Run Away children/teens, Trafficked Persons - especially females under 18 and Illegals. We simply arrest the illegals on sight and hand them over to ICE for deportation. They are criminals simply by being on US soil and having illegally crossed the Border or purposely overstayed their Work Visas.
Gangs in larger Cities(Chicago/NYC/LA) in other States; also have begun forcing protection pay from street performers,. It bring them in grey area money - as busking is neither truly illegal(besides Public Nuisance calls) nor addressed by Laws/Codes in most Cities or States.
Oh I see, we seem to be very fortunate here, as you know being from the west of Ireland that music is a massive part of the culture. We don't seem to have the same issues a lot of other places appear to have. @@dublincitytoday I had great times in Dublin and some bad ones but, I had always enjoyed the music culture and traditions from the West too. How are Gaeilge speakers/singers tolerated in Dublin now? It was a much different story 30 Years ago. That is a very good thing and I really do hope it stays that way. I will save your email and contact you if we are able to come. Yeah I'm old enough to remember how it was 30 years ago😭lol but Dublin is such a different place now. Its very open, young, vibrant, diverse with a magical music scene. I love how the city has grown, I'm a liberties man so am from the heart of the city.
