The writers of this show pretty much covered all the bases in how student musicals can go tits up. What genuinely surprised me though was how much commitment Mcguirk actually gave to his role when the curtain went up. Too bad the window wouldn't roll down. He could have really saved the show.
I'll race! to feel the wind in my face! and ill race! to feel alive! and ill race! to feel like i own this place! and ill race until i die! and ill race against the other racers! and ill race with one big shout! and ill race against the clock! and ill race against myself! and ill race! and ill race! AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!! RACE!
I can just imagine H. john Benjamin in a recording booth singing his heart out with Brendon small playing piano and the rest of the cast and team laughing their asses off.
I just got off of working a 14 hour shift, had a big ass argument with my boss, and overall had a shit ass day. But this, this episode had me crying laughing. This show is a gem and thank you sir for the upload and for letting my shitty day end with a laugh.
It's not physically impossible. You know those big double doors in back of the stage? You can open them wide enough to drive a car through. That's kind of a dream of mine, to drive a car inside a building.
I was here two years ago and I had to come back because Home Movies is just so awesome. I think this is my favorite episode of Home Movies, and possibly my favorite episode of any cartoon ever.
It is extremely unlikely that there will ever be more Home Movies. Brendon Small (the real man who plays the character), however, continues to bring his great sense of humor into new projects. Check out Metalocalypse, it's his current project, and although the overall tone and visuals are vastly different, you can easily see similarities in the writing. You should give it a try.
"Id be the big shot there on the cell block but im too cool to be caugh***T*** "Id be the genius there on the campus but im too smart to be taugh***T***"
I am the only one who thinks it is hysterical when jr. is in the finale, shaking uncontrollably from the epinephrine, and finally just collapses and falls to the side? Awesome!
Weird. Brazilian Sunspot always reminds me of Johnny One Note, for some reason... And another thing... Shannon: I want to find out who ratted me out. Brendon: ...That's so Maloney.
Dear God, the fact McGuirk is (for once) trying, actually giving an effort and singing his heart out on stage, and the crowd can't hear it because of his car... That will never not be hilarious. If there was some kind of way to combine this with "The Nightman Cometh" I'm pretty sure you would have the Best Thing.
Junior getting stabbed by Melyssa made me laugh as hard as I've ever laughed in my entire life. "oh, you stabbed with that fucking pen!" "I'm sorry" "what the fuck did you do that for?"
"...It's snowing; summer is here! ...Oh! And yeah! So, you're not seeing Maloney..." tricky " you know" bit follows. HaHaHa!!!!! and let's not forget, Brendon's, "...Glad you enjoyed it. I had a horrible time. Glad I could help you out." Poor Brendon. n_n
No worries! I often sing classic rock like Boston, Journey, and Air Supply. But I roll the window down:) I like to think seeing a girl emphatically belt out "More than a Feeling" brightens the day of the other motorists!!
I love how Paula is in the background still painting the set. lol
You can have your Archer's, Bob's and Carl's, but John Benjamin will be always be Coach McGuirk to me.
Robert Hill which one is Carl?
@@lorrie9462Llamas with hats
If you really wanted to be old school you could have said Ben from Dr Katz
Same my dude
@@lorrie9462 From Family Guy
My god Coach McGuirk's performance was actually incredible
Jon really is one of the best voice actors to ever do it.
Mcguirk: “This play is completely sucking Brendan”🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
At least a few of the people making this show are pro musicians so it doesn't surprise me.
John McGurk.....
The other "Meat Loaf".
👏
Edit: *McGuirk
God, I never get over how hilarious it is that McGuirk is actually giving a real singing effort and no one can hear him.
I am so happy that I
Sorry, I'm hanging a great time. e
Everything about this scene is epic 😂
Coach McGuirk is one of the best characters ever. He's that guy that you know is kind of a dumb jerk but you just got to love him.
Exactly. Because he's an asshole, but not an evil person. Lol.
Like Joe Rogan?
@@fernandovargasmejia740 Rogan is actually quite a good comparison to McGuirk, they're both fucking morons but they're not horrible people
Not dumb just too entitled nd lazy to do things, not trying to be pedantic but I feel like that element is really what makes the character unique.
Quick Rick doesn't just race against the other racers. He races... against himself.
Bro it's guts
Mcguirk was into it, lol
That's the part that makes me laugh even more, with how much heart he was putting into it.
He sang really nice to.
The writers of this show pretty much covered all the bases in how student musicals can go tits up. What genuinely surprised me though was how much commitment Mcguirk actually gave to his role when the curtain went up. Too bad the window wouldn't roll down. He could have really saved the show.
He could have opened the door instead :)
@@Jinrai_ Or just like, gone out another door even.
i’m 23 n used to watch this as a kid. i couldn’t fully appreciate this show till now. this is hilarious
The birds are singing, the sun is shining, it's snowing... summer is here!
I'll race!

Bumber sticker on coach McGurk's states, "AA is for quiters!"
I can just imagine H. john Benjamin in a recording booth singing his
heart out with Brendon small playing piano and the rest of the cast and
team laughing their asses off.
The sad thing is that McGuirk did a good job otherwise.
When is your next video
HI RYANNNN :3
Didn't expect to find you here
Ryan... Its so strange seeing your comments out here in the wild lol
I like how after Junior was stabbed with the EpiPen he goes back to the old animation style
I just got off of working a 14 hour shift, had a big ass argument with my boss, and overall had a shit ass day. But this, this episode had me crying laughing. This show is a gem and thank you sir for the upload and for letting my shitty day end with a laugh.
"That's so Maloney" xD
Brendon is awesome so is Shannon
This series is pure genius.
I so love that it’s Emo Phillips as Shannon the bully.

I literally scrolled down to the comments and read this as he said those words. 5:44
BY FAR the best episode. I get tears in my eyes laughing too hard. So much greatness in this one.
"You wanna race?" "Brendan, let's do it, let's beat him! Oh, too late, he's gone....that is TOTALLY embarrassing" As he straddles a kid's bike, LOL!
Dude smooth drove off the stage though. One of my favorite episodes of any tv show ever.
"Yeah, you stabbed me with you F**king pen!"
"What the F***k you so that for?!"
LOL!
Shannon's voice is hilarious XD
7:07 i just noticed that Shannon's pedaling animation is... pretty good.
Yes
It's not physically impossible. You know those big double doors in back of the stage? You can open them wide enough to drive a car through. That's kind of a dream of mine, to drive a car inside a building.
Junior is HILARIOUS! that stabbing scene haha
"and i'll race..." XD i loved that song!
Omfg the end when Coach is like “Brendan let’s do it let’s beat him”😂
Aaaaaaaaaaaah Brendon! aaaaaaaaaah Brendon! Aaaaaaah Brendon!

This is one of the most underrated cartoons ever
"Id be the big shot there on the cell block but im too cool to be caugh***T***
"Id be the genius there on the campus but im too smart to be taugh***T***"
if they recorded this play, and then inter spliced it with interviews of the actors and production, it would probably be a pretty funny documentary
I love coach's number on stage! Everyone in the audience was lik wtf. Lol
Truly tearjerker performance by Mcguirk. AND ILL RACE!
this episode is like a masterpiece
I am the only one who thinks it is hysterical when jr. is in the finale, shaking uncontrollably from the epinephrine, and finally just collapses and falls to the side?
Awesome!
3:00 "Lets go Light god." loool, dont fuck with shannon
Im.going to say coach's window getting stuck is one of the best comedy moments in history
Came for Coach, stayed for Maloney.
lol coach mcguirk did a good job with that song...i loved it
This is my all time favorite episode
That is so maloney.
i used to sing a song when i was a kid just like mcguirk--it was called "I'm fast." My grandmother loved it :)
Possibly the funniest comment on TH-cam!! 👍😂😂😂
3:28 The Return of Squigglevision
no, YOU know--
brendon behind the bush. i nearly DIED.
This is the 'Band Geeks' of Home Movies. Had me in tears when I first heard McGuirk and Shannon's singing
Emo Phillips was such a surprisingly solid choice for a polite-but-evil villain.
GLADYS
Coach McGuirk is the best singer ever.
Weird. Brazilian Sunspot always reminds me of Johnny One Note, for some reason...
And another thing...
Shannon: I want to find out who ratted me out.

I love Shannon's song
🎶Me... Alone...In A Leather...🎶
I love how in the first seconds of the video you could see paula in the background painting the scene lol this show is a win!
GLADYS!
2:57 Brendon hangs back in the cut and watches Shannon do work
love how junior goes old school scribblevision when he gets stabbed xD

Im just in love with Coach McGuirk
The beginning had me crying "No, you know that"
shanon's voice is so funny XD !!!
I like how he makes enfazis in the "T" sounds !!!
Funny, I hate his voice.
I like how in the beginning Brendon's mom is still painting the background during the play. LOL
This show was ahead of its time
LMFAO I love Junior! His voice is the best!
brendens mom is still painting in the background while the play is going lol
such a nice day, birds singing, the suns shining... its snowing, summers here!
This has Gene Belcher's fingerprints all over it.
Man Jason is one of the best actors I have ever seen.
Junior getting stabbed by Melyssa made me laugh as hard as I've ever laughed in my entire life.
"oh, you stabbed with that fucking pen!"
"I'm sorry"
"what the fuck did you do that for?"
Suuuch a nice day! Birds are singing, and the sun shining, snowing, summer is here! LOL
Me too, I wish we could have seen more, I just replayed that scene like 5 times!
