Install on a warm day in full sun, piece of cake. I have the 6' and it's water tight, great for camping with a drawer system. Not a lot of head room but perfect for sleeping, quick to heat with a little buddie, a UCO candle heater keeps it warm in near freezing Wx.
Yeah after putting it up a few times it got a bit easier to clip in, forsure better than an open bed IMO. I’m waiting for the weather to get a bit before I try to sleep in it, but I’ve taken a few naps back there and it’s pretty nice! debating on getting the camper extension so I could sleep back there with the tail gate down.
@@RoamWithJon I have a 6'2" bed and just enough room for sleeping. I've been using a SlumberJack off the end for a couple of years. The Softopper end looks like it's even faster set up take down. Just may order one.
Thanks. Went with the tan cause it popped more. Most rigs I’ve seen run a black topper lol. hind sight it might have looked more clean with the current setup
@@RoamWithJon yeah, they sell magnetic strips on Amazon. You cut a small slit at the bottom of the Window and slide it through. It’s quick and easy, almost looks OEM. It’s a really clean mod.
Softopper is the way to go, as long as you’re not away from your truck for a long period of time with expensive stuff in the bed. Keeps all my gear dry and clean on trips and it’s like a fraction of the weight and price of a hard shell
@@RoamWithJon yeah was thinking mostly for extra space after snowboarding. I only have an access cab so being able to throw stuff that would get wet back there would be clutch
Not really any flapping or noises, the only flapping really comes from the tail gate if you choose not to Velcro it down. I ended up velcro’ing it down.
The pivot pins are adjustable. If you move them down to the bottom setting it's so much easier, but they don't tell you that in the beginning of the instruction booklet.
Seems like that’s the story with all truck/ overlanding parts. I had the same issue with my sliders and now having the same issue with suspension 🤦🏻♂️
Wonderfully honestly, the only downside is the plastic windows start to go bad after a year or so. At least mine did, sitting in the sun and getting a bunch of salt getting on it from the ocean and from the roads in the sierras
I personally thought this thing was a pain in the ass to install lol. Sick truck man! I also have the same color '21 TRD OR and the same topper color lol. Army green represent!!
I had the same exact struggles. I was starting to think I did something wrong. Also on mine where the side rails join and those inside mid pins where the canopy bars go on look stressed. They are bowing in slightly. I’m not sure. Holding up so far. Love the tan look on yours 👍🏼
Thanks! Yeah I thought I messed it up. I was gonna take it off and put it back on but it’s been holding fine since I put it on, so just left it lol. Didn’t want to go through it all again
Jon, thanks for posting this. Mine just arrived today. I am going to wait until I have full sun tomorrow morning to install. That is a great color combination. Went with black for my '17 Inferno, but I sure like the brown. Getting ready for some late summer fishing. This replaced my tonneau cover. Toooooo hot inside in the summer and it can freeze shut in the winter.
I just installed mine. Those loose areas towards the front on both sides drive me nuts. I wish they would have added a way to tighten up those trouble spots, oh well. Also, that rear bar, its not required. It just gets in the way.
I feel it, yeah those super loose ends in the front got me scratching my head too lol. I put the rear bar in for rigidity and it makes it kinda easier to roll up cleaner imo
New wheels and tires I see. Hard to see. Ray 10's in bronze? Lift? Truck looks great. Have one like it that should arrive within a week. Nice inspiration!
Thanks! Yep ray 10 bronze 16x8 - 12, no lift yet, still deciding on which way I wanna go and how much I really want to spend, congrats on the new truck 👍🏽

Excellent. I'll be buying mine soon. It looks like they might have changed something on the front flaps as I've read older postings about issues securing it to the bed. Did they add a flap?
Not completely sure if they changed anything, as far as I know it’s the same thing lol. It’s a great buy though, I don’t see my self ever getting rid of it unless it fully falls apart.
@@RoamWithJon And thanks for the video. Your installation helped me today when I put mine on. Yours is much better than Softtoppers official install video and miles better than that borderline useless black/white booklet they send. Subscribed.
My buddy put on his f150, he said he almost lost his shit putting it on. They look great though.
Lmao when theyre new it’s kinda rough but they break in and become easier to take down and put up
You were not lying those snaps are such a pain
Haha yeah man I was sweating. Luckily they broke in and were super easy to take pop off and on when I needed to fold it down
Thanks was a great Video on the Softopper 🎉👍👍👍
🤙🏽 🤙🏽
Cinch down the straps, front and back, a little more before snaps. 🎉
I pulled em down pretty hard I think haha. After it all broke it it was super easy to clip back on anyways
Thanks for not cutting out the difficult parts to show us how it really is 👍
No problem 😂
Did you end up putting that tent sealant on? If not, did it leak?
I didn’t, never had any leaking issues during the time I had the soft topper

How has it hold up so far?
It held up really well up until I sold it about a year ago, moved to an open bed bed rack, and now I’m running a GFC platform topper.

You can use magnets for the back window instead of the Velcro.
I don’t mind it flapping around, I guess if someone really wanted to they could
