I drive a Whippled 2017 Shelby GT350 (750rwhp), running 325/30/19 Continental ECS02 at the rear, and they grip really good when i do a 2nd gear pull. Definitely buying them again!
There is already a channel who did that, tyre reviews i believe. He did a great job. But at the end, he conclude objectively, they are practically the same hence give the conti better value
ECS02 well documented in any hpde, autocross or touge group as a solid tire. For wet and dry and have most sizes. Love them and its a nice medium before 200tw category, whereas the ps4s feels more like a gt cruiser tire but still heavily effective and wet grip master. Owned both, love both but prefer ecs02 for price and dry end grip.
@@just.a.simplejoe personally here in Cali the ps4s were better and lasted longer than the 02, my 02 lasted only 3 months while my ps4s lasted 6 I believe and I was on a more aggressive alignment
As someone who has had both on a daily driven stage 2+ e85 s4. I can say both are awesome. PS4s is alot quieter and smoother, the conti has better road feel and feedback. The traction on the dry/wet is nearly identical. If anything ps4s has barely better dry traction.
I was just choosing between these tires last month and they seem so similar on paper. I ended up choosing the Michelins because I felt the more square profile would offer more rim protection. Also, I don’t need extreme wet performance here. Honestly pretty amazing that a 7 year old design can still be in the running for best in category.
Another option if you want similar wet performance to the continental is the Pirelli Pzerp PZ4. Anecdotally people have said the pzero rides quieter, and more comfortably than the Michelin p4s and has better wet performance. In testing the pzero comes withing a few percent of the p4s with a lower cost per tire.
Not quite up there in performance with the contis or the michelins, but for spirited driving and decent in the rain, bang for buck with solid performance, I'll keep my firestone firehawk indy 500s.
I was going to put the Indy 500's on my car because of the price/performance aspect but I was able to get the Conti's for only $10 more per tire, so I did that instead. I haven't mounted them yet, but I've got a track day in 2 weeks to find out how they do.
Give us an actual test, break distance, road noise, grip and these videos reminds me too much of the videos guys made for that company you used to work for. No hate bois ,love your content 🫶🏻
I appreciate this video.. i currently have DWS06+ on my IS500 nut considering these options when its time to replace the Continentals. I don't drive it in the winter so a good summer will be my next move
Eco2 is just a worse tire overall, I’ve had both and the ps4s on the street had way more grip in both dry and wet, I did notice that in colder conditions the contis did feel a little better in spirited driving but they do also overheat and die off. The ps4s also did last way longer, the ec02 lasted me only 3 months while on a less aggressive alignment so imo, the ps4s is worth the price difference
@@moonman_8935 yeah nothing wrong with trying them out that’s just how it be but for me and on my car the ps4s were better, both were 225/40 18, I’ll be getting re71rs soon and that’ll be 245/40 17s
I have the sport 02s on my maserati qp. The rear tires lasted 25k+. The front ones only 10k but i corner hard. Continental did reimburse me $200 "good faith" after I made a warranty claim for the front tires. Are the ps4s better for cornering/last longer? Idk if its worth the price difference
This is where I am torn, I have a mkv supra and I'm trying to see which tire gives me best highway stability, the stock Pilot Super Sports are floaty and find myself constantly correcting it ( and yes alignment is perfect ),..
I have the Michelins sport 4s on my GR86, I don't really care for them. I'm running Blazziks WS90's atm because it's winter. Im definitely buy something better for spring
I know it's probably just me but it would be nice to see you guys venture away from the generic Fitment Industry tire/wheel format and show us real time driving impressions followed with some visuals of test datas. I just want to hear screeching tires and tires being pushed to the limit.
The Michelin don't hook on my ctsv at about 615 hp. The continental hook all day even in wet florida weather. The ps4s are trash for off the line acceleration.
@@FourTheWheels the 02 is a softer tire but both are very close when it comes to noise, on the street the ps4s will never spin in the rain while the 02 does in the slightest of wet surface, I ran -3 camber all around on the ps4s and I never lost grip in the rain while on the 02 I ran I think -2 front and -3 rear and I spun in a puddle
Where's the objective evidence of what you say? Sorry, I only clicked on the video to see lap-times, breaking distances, etc. This is just extremely subjective.
How can you even do a tire review, unless you put in the actual certified testing groundwork? lmao Pointless opinion piece. Tyre reviews already covered these detailed tests and it seems you try to piggyback reviews based on other peoples info to push retail sales.
I would say that percentage is much lower. I notice things like tires on cars in the parking lot and in my shop. I would say cheap tires on about 25% of the cars, well known brands on 65% of cars and performance tires on the rest. Cheap tires make me throw up in my mouth a little. Performance tires make me smile.
How so? We definitely didn't get paid to say anything about these tires, and also wasn't reviewed by either brand. This is Gels genuine feedback after running both on his cars! If theres a way we could make our videos better, just let us know.
@@MartiniWorksOfficial I agree, I think the first 6 minutes sounds a lot like you're reading off a product brochure. Viewers/customers don't care about what "technologies" a tire has, they care which one has better dry/wet performance, is cheaper, rides better, is quieter, etc. I think if you expanded on the personal experience section this video could be a lot more useful to more people. One good example is when you mentioned the wet performance of the ECS02 was much better.

I always buy Michelin Pilot Sport 4s Summer Tires. But this spring, I am going with the Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02.
Car will be louder for sure
Pilot Sport 2s not that much of a different and handles better in wet than 4s, in case weather got you surprised.
Really enjoying my Continental winters over the Mich Xice
I wanna see some hard numbers. Braking tests, acc tests, gforce tests in turning, wear characteristics, road noise comparisons.

What’s your guess on how long these tires last? Daily driver, no track, only spirited driving occasionally.
Wondering the same thing
The MPS4S barely has more lateral grip than the CES02 tire from Tire Rack testing, but not in every metric.
Are both of those tires the same size? If so, the Michelins look to have massive sidewalls. Could be better if you like the beefier look.
Great comparison! Personally, I love to see the budget options.

but which one will give me 99 agility?
Would love to try the ecs02 but I don’t think they got the size I need.
What size do you need? Continental is pretty good about having a WIDE range of sizes!

Which one is better for autocross?
Dry- PS4S, Dry & wet- ECS02. If you have money to spend Michelin, and if you want something a little more affordable, Continental.

Who cares, they literally sell car parts
I genuinely care about these technologies though, as it's still strong content coming from an engineering mindset.
Despite it's price, especially here in Canada, it is hard to beat the Pilot 4 S as a top shelf performance summer tire.
