Up where we belong, Take my breath away, Lady, Let´s hear it for the girl; all were mixed in medley style very perfectly, and I truly feel the American sense along this contest round, and do not believe the current MUO would be able to do like this.
Why am I obsessed with this year's gown competition? It's as if the wonderful music and the unique walk of each woman was pre-ordained and perfectly synched to match the flow, vibe, personality of the gown/contestant. I even enjoy looking at each fleeting moment of interaction between the contestant and her escort, the contestant and the judge's eyes, etc. I just love the whole thing.
Quite possibly the best evening gown competition ever. Very classy and elegant. Virginia and Mississippi were overcome with emotion and had tears in their eyes. Wish they'd bring back the military escorts but I'm not holding my breath. Loved the 80s hair and Illinois' shoulder pads.
As far as this competition, it should have gone to Florida! In the 33 years since this pageant, her gown is the only one that still holds up. All of the others are extremely dated, with Texas's gown being at the top of the list.

Miss Nevada is the prettiest in my opinion!!! Miss Missouri, Miss West Virginia, Miss Georgia, Miss Texas, and Miss Illinois!!!! Miss Arizona is very pretty as well, and seems very nice!!!
Totally agree... all of them are average but Nevada totally got into my eyes... really pure beauty... I guess it's all because we live in different times now :)
I also wonder what happened with Miss Mississippi's scores as the night progressed. She was the #2 qualifier into the Top 11. She was 3rd in interview (which I thought was good, but her weakest segment). And then her scores were still good, but dipped for her swimsuit and evening gown, and she was a knock-out in both; so she missed the Top 5 barely. I guess the judges just liked who they liked and were locked-in.
I think she was fighting back tears. Perhaps the moment was a lot for her to take in. She was competing on stage at Miss USA, so it was perhaps a dream come true for her.

The Last year Bob Barker host the pageant.. Bob was The best host the pageant ever had.
As far as I'm concerned, once Miss Arizona walked out - the rest could have gone home. Miss Arizona, I give you 11.0 out of 10.0
