my fav radio is the ftdx10 now. I do know what sam is talking about the shack in the box I have an older 897d and love that it can do everything, run on internal batteries, plug in wall outlet, or run 12 volts from battery. And I cant believe she wasnt here for me LOL
First you have to find a club that will let you talk to an Elmer before getting your tech license I’ve lived here is Siouxfalls SD going on five years I’m studying for my Tech after doing chemo isn’t very easy but still working on getting my Tech 73
@@jamesmartin5306 Not sure what kind of clubs you have out there but most folks will help Elmer someone to get started, get first station up, etc....e-mail me any questions happy to help n5xo@n5xo.net
Your June VHF Contest video made me very sad 😞 Many many familiar calls I have had the pleasure to work and know. My first June VHF Contest on 6 Meters was in 1987 and what I consider, "The World's Greatest Es Opening". Besides 6 Meters never closing, it was the only time I worked 2 Meters Coast to Coast at the SAME TIME. I also got to play a little in the 2006 CQ VHF Contest that many broke contest records. I moved to Arizona in 2014, and Franke and Taylor invented FT8. I have hardly played in one since. In Arizona, I had 5 "Line of Sight" 6-Meter FT8 operators running from 500-1500 watts. It was so bad that a well-known travelling to rare grid operator pulled the plug because no one spoke or tapped a Key. I hope an Analog Class shows up for this one. I am back in Texas setting up in a HOA infested neighborhood. I hope to pass a few points out.
I agree Art, what I hate is the way FT8 is taking over - 6 meters used to be so active and fast paced during a band opening or a good band conditions during contest and the last few openings it was dead unless you were on FT8. I typically embrace new technology, but in this case I am not happy with the changes and wish for things to remain. I will be posting the full length version of this video later this week.
So let me ask our viewers a question: What do you like about our show, what do you dislike and what kind of content would you like to see in the future?
