Also my compliments on the outstanding glamour. White mages in Gridania traditionally wear whites robes woth a little red on them. You kept the motif but switched it around. Instead of a large white robe, you made a large white Miq'ote. Then you reversed the color values on the robe. Instead of a lot of white (now fur color) on the robe, you reversed it and made it red. People look at your character and know something is a bit off but can't quite figure it out. Bravo.

Great vid! Dealing damage with WHM is something that the community decided that is simple, but at the end, who actually play the job, knows that optimizing to actually have BIG numbers is not that easy. It takes time to actually feels comfortable not using a single aoe gcd healing cast. It also depends on your team, if the party is using their mitigation correctly or just relying on healers and not doing their job (hi party finder). Hoping to watch SCH next!! ❤️

Great video! If I could offer a few things to maybe mention in your next video :D
One thing that I advise is instead of trying to open double weave windows with swift cast, rather learn the timing at which you can do things like apply benison+aquaveil to a tank and still keep single weaving. This lets you conserve your swiftcast for movement. A good example is P10S from this tier. Over the course of 3 GCDs I can put benison on each tank and aquaveil on the MT for the tank towers. Remember that benison has a long duration and aquaveil has 8 second duration. As long as you are clipping any damage into the aquaveil window, you have mitigated damage which can make it extremely easy to not need to do any single target tank healing after tankbusters. Benison is a really strong single target oGCD shield and with that plus aquaveil many tankbusters can literally be ignored damage wise as long as your tank used mitigations. I also like to start my prepull opener with a benison thrown onto the MT to mitigate starting auto damage. Especially at savage level sometimes that eliminates 1 to 2 auto attacks entirely, and the benison charge has already started refreshing for when you need it.
Another thing is that its important to know the most efficient way to heal certain kinds of damage. Bleeds need mitigation at the front end which reduces the bleed damage the whole time. Massive damage is a great time to spend raptures to charge blood lily.
Also, you dont need to heal damage immediately. Way too many healers are obsessed with spamming heals to top everyone to full as soon as damage occurs. If you have no incoming raid damage for 20 seconds, and your assize comes up in 12 seconds and would heal the group up to full/near enough to full to not need another heal, congratulations. You have eliminated an entire GCD heal from the fight. This lets you use your lillies even more aggressively for movement or for high damage mechanics. No incoming raid damage for 20 or more seconds and you have asylum on cooldown? Use asylum and let its natural regen refill the party (unless you need it during high damage mechanics for its healing buff and regen) This isnt even for parsing, this is for your own personal cooldown optimization. Also learn to trust your cohealer. They might have something when you dont have anything. Its a waste to use a GCD heal when they have an oGCD they can use.

Thanks for the guide Rinon! I have an pot opener question that may apply to all healers on a general level. If you pot opener with 2nd GCD being your DoT, do you reapply the DoT at the end of your pot before it falls off?

i think you briefly mentioned it but using your raptures for movement is a really good thing especially if the party needs healing at the same time or you’re about to overcap. whm currently is probably the most mobile healer (they are all pretty mobile with slidecasting but in terms of dps neutral instants whm kinda wins!). sage does have toxicons but only 3 per entire fight if there is no downtime while whm has a lily every 20 secs.
It's funny because last expansion WHM had the most difficult time moving without a DPS loss, in contrast to now where WHM has the most free DPS neutral movement and it isn't really close!

Can i ask what gcd sps tier you use? Ive been seen a few diffrent numbers for sps.
Current BiS is 2.45 because of one specific gear piece that has a piety alternative iirc. And piety should be 0 except for maybe SCH because SCH are in a bad place for mana.
Make sure to check your hps log to see if you chadded your cohealer and didn't do your actual job. The amount of whm ive seen that simply never heal at all is disgusting. If party mitigation isnt on point you will likely need to toss a gcd heal here and there.
There is a way to point your monitor in p3 TOP while still having casting uptime, without swiftcast/holy/rolling your gcd perfectly. But its very hard to do, since it involves having the setting "Automatically face target when using action" to be disabled. You would be able to cast while looking at the boss at a diagonal as appose to directly at the boss(assuming your monitor orientation doesnt have you face away from the boss completely), while pointing your monitor vertically/horizontally. Thought I would drop this tid-bit somewhere since you mentioned single target holy usage.. and ive seen noone else actually mention it, since I'm sure 99%+ people play with that setting enabled.
Yeah, I've seen this! It's useful. I didn't wanna get into messing around with overall settings but for people doing TOP, this ^ is useful

As a dps main this opener looks very funny
Thing is at the end of the day i'll take the safety helmet WHM that parses 70's 80's but has prog mentality then the 99 percentile one that refuses to gcd heal if raid buffs are up and the party is in imminent danger and they're out of resources.
Having a prog mentality and doing good damage aren’t mutually exclusive - just to make it clear to other commenters, if a healer lets people die to unavoidable damage without attempting to save them, they are a bad healer, regardless of the log they get at the end. The skill in healing is planning out how you can do good damage whilst keeping things safe, which is absolutely doable! In my experience, getting orange logs or even pinks whilst doing sufficient safe healing is a very doable thing
@@RinBanana I agree they are not mutually exclusive, but on PF scenarios / casual statics healers don't really plan things that much and even when they do people forget to press their mits and what not, leading to off the rails compensations. For organized groups and as a general guideline the video is pretty good though. One thing that I find crucial for new healers or people getting into healingto have on their minds is no matter how much dps you deal, if you let your dps players die to unavoidable damage the dps loss is so much bigger then the little optimization they were going for it's not worth it at all. I've played with extremely good healers (dps and healing wise) and 100% monster parsers which were a nightmare to play with because of said optimizations leading to dumb wipes hence pointing it out. Anyways great video as always Rinon.
Auto attacks. In the course of let's say a 10 minute savage fight, with as much autoattack uptime as possible, is that going to give you the equivalent damage of like one extra glare?
Video is giga old (with dt coming out soon and changing everything mayhaps) to leave comments on, but I'll drop one anyway.
Using surecast or reserving a lilly for knockback mechanics that can interrupt your casts is a no brainer, but another usage of it is to prevent cast interrupt from damage taken.
I didn't notice any mechanic that might interrupt the cast (except for kb mechanics) in EW ex fights/p5-12s (unless you get boss aggro with tanks dead), but it is a thing during dungeon runs, especially if tanks bodypulls (bad-bad) or lose aggro after you drop a misery on a pack after a halt. Surecast ensures (no pun intended) you can keep on holying despite being autoed by a trash pull until tank takes it over.
Also, Im just bad and can't reliably slidecast on holy, so I just take every single aoe trash mobs drop and I use surecast+benison in between them not to take lethal damage, though this approach varies from dungeon to dungeon where some of the aoes are really nasty.
p.s. Didn't find any scholar videos on your channel, do you play it? Would love in-depth guide like the one you did in effective healing with white mage, since I leveled summoner, finished sholar job quests and have no idea what my buttons even do, except for broil, bio and stratagem xdd
I love in one of the instances, ultima I waa forced to heal so much cause my sage didnt give a damn about healing, he popped shield every now and then and I was basically solo healing and then he calls me out on damage,
I hope you mentioned in the video that as a healer, your damage is heavily impacted by your party. Try doing your average P10s run in PF and you'll probably get lucky to get green no matter how hard you try. My last run had like 10 deaths including 2 of mine, as I got sniped by people who barely have any idea what they're doing. And I'm a player who generally parses orange on tanks.

pf healers are in a sorry state, I've had more wipes just from a lack of healing this patch than any other time in endwalker for some reason, so hopefully your guides teach some folks
Rule for healing: Higher the parse for healing (not damage) , the more the healer is carrying the group.
That's just a load of bullshit lol. There are multiple people who refuse to do dps because 'healers should heal not dps' and just overheal constantly.
@@penultimania4295 usually overhealing is not considered in parsing.
One thing I wish FF14 did differently was having a lot stronger incoming damage and bleeding raidwides so Healers would be forced to be almost 100% of the time healing and not DPSing. I mean it even in dungeons. For example trash-mobs could have raidwides and deal more damage. Healers should not be DPSing. That's my opinion.
I think balancing damage and healing as a healer is a very interesting paradigm personally, but I do agree that FFXIV still massively lacks in the damage department. Especially in Endwalker, there is this major focus on instances of raid damage happening once per minute or so, then you get a big downtime period to get your cool-downs back, rinse repeat until the end. I think playing around with damage profiles and timings would do a world of good - healers need unique types of hit to heal in order to keep feeling engaged
I mean that's how things used to be lmao In Stormblood and before pulling wall to wall was just for the best healers. The damage is now 10x less than what it was to the point Tanks don't need any healing in a wall to wall pull which is just INSANE.

Please only play like this in a parse group where you communicate mitigation rotations with your co healer and group. Generally you will clear faster gcd shielding all the aoes and topping people off before mechanics, because people sometimes forget a mit or stand in something that wont outright kill them which you could easily recover from. There are so many 0 gcd healers in pf that would rather wipe and reset for thier parse than throw a gcd heal. Parsing and optimization is fun, but dont feel pressured to 0 gcd heal, you and your co healer can throw out 10~15 gcd heals and still comfortably clear before enrage.
One thing I would like to say is that nothing that's been covered here is related to parsing - this is playing your job optimally whilst safely healing. It was mentioned in the video a few times that the rules are always superceeded by preventing a player from dying, no matter the damage cost. Good healer gameplay doesn't sacrifice safety for damage, it provides both - GCD shielding every instance of damage is suboptimal in the same way that letting a DPS die to damage is suboptimal, you gotta find a good balance between the two
I think the conclusion you've drawn about variance in healer dps is very wrong, the variance is more likely coming from clears that included deaths or other non-optimal situations where they've been forced to GCD heal and res
Unfortunately, untrue. Most of the variance comes purely from cast uptime, and secondarily DoT uptime and correct burst window execution
@@RinBanana burst window is negligible when your only burst is assize and misery. What causes dot and cast uptime drops do you think? People unable to deal with a 2 button rotation or something going wrong during the fight?
@@ZhongjieDongsome people are just... terribly unskilled. If you look at any single digit parse WHM, 99% of the time they parsed that low because they have 70% GCD uptime and 50% Dia uptime, or used like 80 glares in a 7 minutes fight. The job have an "easy" reputation so it attracts... a lot of these people.
