Indianapolis Colts - AD Mitchell looks like a star! Indiana Pacers curb-stomp Knicks to tie series!

- Adonai Mitchell looks like he is going to be really good, but we will see whether it happens during his rookie season. He was the winner of rookie camp - as expected!
Pacers earned a laugher against Knicks to even their best of seven series at two wins each. Knick looked tired, and only one day off before game five may give the Pacers the advantage they need.
Caitlin Clark will open her regular season WNBA career tomorrow night.

Everybody keeps saying Miitchell ran a 4.38, but if you look at the NFL Combine results page it says 4.34! So he is really fast!
No one says 4.38 lol….he ran 4.34
4.32 actually if you watch the video his foot is on the line at 4.32
He is really fast - no question. Love his attitude ands hands too.
@@rickjannings7689 in one of the press conferences I heard either Ballard and/or Steichen say 4.38 and then I hear Ken say it this morning. I guess I think that is everybody…..haha
@@SemperColtsFan yah.you must.
We are going to be Strong this year- Love what this team looks like.
that is worthy of some hope!
The Knicks are badly in need of an extra day off. I think its another dud tomorrow. Friday might be different, but Brunson unders and Pacers ML tomorrow deserve careful consideration.
Kent!! Love the show I watch every morning and afternoon. as far as the colts go and bringing back everyone why do you think someone has to get fired we were a play away from winning the afc south w / o our starting QB I can’t wait to see what we do to the league this year. Other teams maybe brought someone new in but they lost others we kept all our key pieces and we’re going to kick ass and take names were good nobody needs to be fired or let go because of last years performance the continuity will show and produce positive things for the shoe! Go colts
Only way anyone loses his gig because of last season is if this season ends similarly. Rewarding apparent mediocrity is a great strategy only if there is a reason for underachievement that self-corrects. Hopefully, Richardson's return lifts the Colts by two wins, and no one loses his job.
@@KentSterling I that EVERYONE “assuming” that AR will automatically or should automatically elevate us two wins, is a bit of a reach. Is it possible. Sure. With Steichen…..if we stay healthy……however EXPECTING That, is silly…..and the argument that Minshew got us to 9-8 so AR should elevate us to 11-6 is simply irrational……..kid is a rookie. A very gifted one. Yes……but health, passing accuracy, and a TEAM around you also healthy and doing their jobs at a high level week in week out is what gets you to 11-6 and beyond……….listen. I hope we go 0-17. And AR throws for 5000 yards 35 Td’s and runs for another 15….honestly………so. That Ballard will be fired…….That is my hope…..and I am praying.
@@rickjannings7689 I got news for Colts Nation- we are going to be the talk of the league this year.......DOMINATE.
@@ericdobbieconsultant-netwo3152 I honestly hope we go 0-17. I am done with Ballard. With that said I want all our players to ball out….Ar throw for 5000 yards 35 tds passing 15 rushing…..win comeback player of the year and offensive player of the year…etc…but I want us to lose every game. And ballard get fired. Thanks
@@rickjannings7689 Now that we have a Qb that hopefully stays healthy and is around for 5+ years, the Colts can get some stability. Having a different QB for the past 6 years is tough to win consistently. I really think we are going to be a strong team this year and win the Division.
Have to disagree with the assertion that "somebody has to be replaced" after a mediocre 9-8 season, because it completely ignores the fact that 1) key players were injured and out the majority of the season, such as Richardson, Woods, Flowers; 2) we never really got to see what AR and JT can do together in the backfield; 3) Coach Steichen has preached on the value of continuity, and he's only entering his second year as HC and playcaller; 4) players can develop and get better over time, such as Bernhard Raimann, Will Fries, Blake Freeland, etc.; 5) a WR that isn't instant impact will typically break out in yr 3 if they're going to be good.
That being said, if you only talked about the takes that I agree with, your show wouldn't be nearly as interesting, lol! Keep up the great work
love that outro!
Great show, Kent. I enjoyed your show everyday.
Thanks. I appreciate that!
TJ! TJ! TJ! TJ! TJ! TJ! WE SEE YOU TEEJ!!!!!!
Where do they play in CT WNBA Mohegan??
That's right.
The Colts are going to be surprisingly good this year. We are being slept on.
Love your optimism.
Not being slept on. Everyone sees we have talent…….but we are 54-60-1 last 7 years….no one is sleeping on us but they certainly arent scared of us…IF JT AND AR stay healthy….and they run the RPO/R together…….teams WILL become scared soon….it will only take one 80 yard run by JT and or AR and one 60 yard pass to AD and it will be on..
@@rickjannings7689 this is right
They looking great for the colts
There is reason for hope!
Hey Kent !! what did you think about Nate Wiggins ??
Wiggins can be really good. Has speed to outrun his mistakes.
@@KentSterling would you have liked him at the 15th pick ?
That was the worst sporting event I’ve ever gone to(Knicks fan). But I saw Nick Cross on the sidewalk, so that was pretty cool
I wondered if this furious pace would end up wearing down the Knicks since they don't have much of a bench. Here's hoping....
We'll all find out together tomorrow night!
I think the Philly and New York series wore out the Knicks.
The changes to the team will be AR and a healthy JT. That will make all the difference. Latu and Mitchell can hopefully be impactful. I wish they’d make a move in the secondary but we’ll see.
At least one move in the secondary. Need to lift the floor at corner and FS.
@@KentSterling I’d love me some Justin Simmons. Honestly don’t know why we haven’t jumped on it when it’s there for the taking. He’s still good.
@@king_supreme1102theremust be a reason…as Kent says…..why these free agents are not being signed…….my guess is at this point he wouldn’t be more of an impact than a healthy player that we have at that position…
@@rickjannings7689 I also get that but at the same time I don’t really think that’s always true. Why was Peyton Manning a free agent? Why are many great players free agents? Not because they’re not good. Justin Simmons is good. With that attitude you’d never add a player that will help. Another question that should be asked is why doesn’t the player want to return to the team? The Broncos are a mess. So it’s easy to picture why someone would want out. And we need the help no matter what the downsides are. At this point he’ll be cheap and better than Rodney Thomas.
@@king_supreme1102 again….there is no “at the same time”………we are taking about Justin Simmons here. Old Justin Simmons….we arent talking about trading in AP for Justin Jefferson……what I said was…….this….please read……there is a reason WHY he sits out there as a free agent with 31 other teams yet to claim him……….who cares why/IF he wants out….??? Now……let’s compare………Justin Simmons to Julian Blackmon……….ok….now again why would you take Simmons over Blackmon?………thats probably WHY WE didnt sign him………….you follow?…….or no? LMFAO….herelet me do it for you……..Here are their stats………Julian Blackmon played 15 games…..Simmons played 15 games……Blackmon had 4 ints Simmons 3. Blackmon had 88 tackles…Simmons 70….Blackmon had 8 passes defenses…Simmons 8 as well…….Blackmon had 2 fumble recoveries….Simmons had 2 as well….Simmons is 30…Blackmon is 25….any questions?
Is there anything better so far this year tgan Geeg Doyle making an absolute ass of himself in the first presser of the most nationally hyped arhlwte to cone to Indy since Luck?
Re:TJ Starting? NO! NO! NO! Don't want any excuse for 'intra-roster drama'! Give TJ a few more minutes, but please don't possibly upset a good thing. TJ off the bench is the "SPARK" the Pacers need!
I am very happy to hear about AD Mitchell. You could tell from his Draft interview he was miffed he dropped to the 2nd. I hope he wears out some defenses on his revenge NFL Rookie season.
GO PACERS!! Beat the Knicks in NYC!! They are tired! Short shots=Tired legs!
❤🐾🐾❤️
Oh, BTW...Great Show!👍
Exactly right on shots being short.
Thanks very much.
The Colt handbook reads a bit like bible scripture. One passage that I found interesting was,
Venturi: 3-48-1 The record may be misleading.
And then again it may not be misleading.
I doubt he would have ever been a top shelf SB winning Coach- but he was saddled with the Colts at peek dysfunction at that point.
@@colinburroughs9871 According to Kent it matters not. The record is, what it is.
And... you still have to account for the Saints and Wildcats.
McConnell does not need to start. Not that he isn’t playing good enough to start. But he’s more effective off the bench. Where he can at times lead the bench unit and at times supercharge the offense with Tyrese.
Start the best five players - and do not complicate winning.
@@KentSterling understand your point but I think it may complicate things. TJ has not started in this lineup all season. It changes how they fit together. I don’t think starting is all that important anyways. That’s just the first 5 minutes of the game. The lineups used in the rest of the game is what matters. And TJ will remain prevalent there.
The Stallions from the Horse Battalion are on the move in 2024! Go Blue!
We hope for the best!
"George McGinnis passed away. He signed, obviously, before doing that." - Ha Ha!!!
Inglorious wording!
You see any similarities between AD and TY?
Only one - 4.34 40 time. Mitchell is different. Much bigger.
@@KentSterling agree. Was curious what your thoughts were. Have a good one, Kent!
I liked Bortolini's interview. Back up to Kelly possibly?!?
That is the hope - and then to ultimately replace him when needed.
Pinter, French, and Fries all need to be concerned with their given positions. Both of the new guys are starting at a higher starting point.
Pacers have to win game 5. Knicks will be rested for game 6 and game 7 will be a toss up by next Sunday.
That's the Pacers best chance! Tomorrow night is huge!
Kent, Kent, Kent, Kent: get over the "Colts were 9 and 8 and they HAVE to make changes" thinking. They HAVE made changes - they've got a new quarterback named Anthony Richardson. They've got a new running back named Jonathan Taylor. They've got a new defensive tackle named Grover Stewart. They have a new third down pass-rusher named Laiatu Latu. They have a new burner WR named AD Mitchell. They have a new rotational DT named Raekwon Davis. They have new guys in the defensive secondary like Juju Brents and Julian Blackmon. They have promising new depth guys on the offensive line.
They don't have any free agent holes to fill because stars left. That was avoided completely, which is absolutely unheard of. Those guys are all coming back because they believe in what is being built here.
If Anthony Richardson is the real deal, they will be fine. If Anthony Richardson is not the real deal, it wouldn't matter what Chris Ballard did in the off season because the top end of possibilities will be a .500 team.
Well said
Yes.this was well said. However, we are/were still a 9-8 team.. our defense was ranked 28th in the league…….and when players seem to never be able to stay healthy or out of trouble…….hmm…..yah………time to move on……..not there yet necessarily with anyone EXCEPT Ballard….he HAS had GOOD quarterbacks…………he has had two or three former NFL MVP’s…..(so they were older…..Brady played til he was 45…….guess what? We lost. Never won the south……..WHICH is a DIRECT reflection on the rest of the roster…..
Healthy, Richardson appeared to be the real deal in his 85 pass attempts. Needs to stay healthy - as does Taylor.
That all believe in what is being built is an optimistic way to view the roster moves - or lack thereof. It could be that the Colts simply offered more than anyone else.
Why? Why do you keep basically saying that the roster isn't good enough because last year we were 9-8, so somebody needs to be replaced..... WHEN WE WENT 9-8 WITH GARDNER MINSHEW AS QB, WE HAVE A NEW QB THAT SEEMS TO BE VASTLY SUPERIOR TO MINSHEW. SO WHY DO YOU KEEP SAYING SOMEBODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WHEN WE ARE REPLACING THE MOST IMPORTANT POSITION ON THE FIELD ALREADY !!!!!!!!
Should we always be looking to improve and upgrade when possible? Yeah sure, that applies to every single team in the NFL. Even to the team that wins the Superbowl. Has our defense had some problems the last few years? Yeah sure, but unfortunate circumstances have really wrecked the D recently (Leonard and Rodgers and Flowers as primary examples). The secondary has some young talent though, so we will see how much they can grow.
It isn't like this roster is fundamentally flawed, like you so often seem to make it sound.
Seriously, you really annoy me sometimes.
Hereis the thing….to assume that AR should or will automatically result in two more wins or whatever is asinine…regardless of his talent….it takes 53 men healthy and playing BETTER than they did last year, (or replacements) in order to go 11-6…..pretty simple….and expecting AR to just step in and elevate the team to 11 wins is irrational. And negligent quite frankly….he is a rookie. That is still learning the game andhow to be a passer more specifically……an accurate in time with touch passer….to ALL levels of the field……my belief is that he will. Surely………but watching Stroud and watching AR, you can see where the differences are……..of course AR is my guy…..but he isnt quite as polished of a QB yet…….do I like his upside more hell yah…..his running ability….hell yah…..am I glad we got him over stroud…..hell yah…….BUT…if you just watch the. two side by side..you can clearly see the differences………SO………to just think by plugging AR in and we will get 11 wins. Is a bit over the top…LOL.
Teams are what their record tells us they are. You are assuming that none of the problems in 2023 are going to repeat - which is very optimistic. I hope they don't, but the likelihood is that injuries and suspensions are coming - as they usually do.
@@KentSterling exactly.NONE of these players actually CARE about football and winning rings as much as they lead you to believe….how can they? They arent volunteers out there. They are PAID…………it takes a VERY RARE individual to be PAID to do something and to continue to do it as WELL and as disciplined and as all out as you did BEFORE you got paid…….period…….just is what it is….and that is why there are very few hall of famers….etc………..because in the NFL (aside from injuries or just freak bad luck) every player or at least 75% of them have the “skill” “talent” to be hall of fame good……..some choose not to….pretty easy to see that……..I can line up ALL the hall of famers if youd like….a drive you their size, speed, and situations………HOW could THEY be hall of famers and people like whoever you want to name that had far better blessings, size, speed, and etc, yet they didnt accomplish anything close……?…again…whose fault is it? Was it dumb luck> a bad QB throwing you the ball? Uh. No. May have been injuries, or bad attitude…behaviors….poor work ethic, or things like that….but only injuries on that list is something you CHOSE not to control. Or get better at……
Welp we are going to get to see if just plugging in AR results in at least 2 more wins, because that is exactly what we are doing. Ballard didn't go out and get any big name free agents, they didn't cut any of the starters from last year, so we are going into this next season with basically the EXACT same roster we had last year (other than a few more rookies from the draft)... All we are really doing is changing the QB...
I think you people seriously over estimate Gardner Minshew or something, because you are making it sound like Gardner got us to 9 wins with a substandard or mediocre at best NFL roster...
Brady gets injured and Patriots were mediocre. Kent thinks next year when Brady comes back but roster is exactly the same the Patriots are still mediocre. Rodgers gets hurt and Packers are mediocre. Rodgers comes back to exact same team next year Kent thinks they are still mediocre. AR misses the year, Colts are 9-8 with Minshew. Minshew is gone, AR comes back and Kent thinks they are still a 9-8 team. Kent doesn't think AR adds any wins to the Colts.
The Dodgers are 27-14 and Ohtani gets injured. Kent thinks it doesn't matter and the Dodgers will still play at a 27-14 pace.
Why aren't more people calling Kent out?
Kent wanted Bo Nix over Latu. He wanted Nix at 15. He didn't want AR at #4 last year. He thinks Stroud is better than AR. LMFAO!
Stay tuned Kent. Stay tuned.
I love AR, but Stroud is the better QB right now. He had one of the best rookie campaigns in history and AR played 1/4 of the season
When Brady was injured he already owned three rings - and the Patriots finished that injury season 11-5. The year after the Packers lost Rodgers to injury, they finished 6-9-1. At that point, Rodgers was a two-time MVP and one-time Super Bowl champion.
I advanced the idea of drafting Nix as a safety net for Richardson, whose injury history makes the idea of taking a shot on another quarterback a smart stretch. We'll see in a few years how that might have worked out.
More need to call Kent out. I generally feel alone out here doing it.
However, I will say he was a Richardson fanatic last offseason. He more than likely was wanting to trade up to secure that pick.
Patriotswerent medicocre…they went 11-5 with Matt Cassel…..and I dont recall kent saying any such thing. He said the colts are mediocre at 9-8.
He DID in fact want AR at #4…..go watch his podcast week of the draft……..he stated ballad needed to pout his NUTS on the table and draft AR…….so run along. You have zero clue what you are crying about---per usual…
I don't understand the "same guys that went 9-8. Probably 3 of 11 new starters on offense. More really... dep3nding where you split the time the number varies but, AR didn't go 9-8. Jelani didn't go 9-8. JT didn't go 9-8.
Defense is closer but, even there... Grover, Brents, Flowers all missed significant time. We replace Leonard.
I just don't see how you say it's the same team.
Colts return 80% of the roster. Yes, players are returning from injury, but it is unreasonable to expect the starters go through the season without injury and suspension.
@KentSterling true, but if one of those guys is QB1, that carries a lot of weight.
I don't disagree too much on defense, other than you hope to not have as many injuries to a single group (cb).
But the offense is a different beast. In 2017 when Luck missed the year (or 2019) you wouldn't necessarily talk about the rest of the offense needing an overhaul...
@KentSterling for further flavoring on offensive assessment alone, if we have 10/11 starters back, counting AR as the swap, that's ~91% same... do you expect the offense to look more or less than 91% similar to last year?
They destroyed an injured Knicks team. Congrats!
Beats getting beaten by an injured Knicks team.
The Fever could not beat any of the A to 6A boys Indiana state champions. Not one and not close.
Not sure what that information is relevant toward.
@@KentSterling the product is being hyped in a way that's inconsistent with the actual product
Talent certainly isn't the Colts issue, problem is nearly all the talent on the team is in the trenches. Josh Downs, Michael Pittman and hopefully the guy out of Cincinnati makes a leap at WR otherwise he's probably going to end up looking for a job after next year. Might not be a bad idea to unload a Kwity Paye if you can get something. He's talented but not playing anywhere near a first round draftee at his position
Ballard exercises the fifth year option on Paye, so he is likely not going anywhere. Mitchell is going to push Pierce - hard - for the starting spot opposite Pittman.
It’ll be fun to see between pierce and Mitchell but Mitchell might lose the battle because of blocking time will tell
Another guy that will only accept elite from the 1st round. He is playing to his 1st round selection, he’s not playing to fanatical expectations that we’re hyped up after his selection.
@@basilfawlty241 would you like to break down DE end numbers statistically from year one to year three of any other quality we won't even say pro bowl player and their numbers are better in the first 3 year ?You get drafted first round you have expectations. Another person who thinks they know something and know very little. It's easy to throw words together and sound intelligent. Its another to have facts backing what your saying and you have none you're just shooting off on impulse.
You should really be giving the interior lineman props for the success they've had winning their one on one battles and being forced to double team Stewart or Buckner. Let's throw 2 starting caliber dt's (not pro bowl)/in there and kwity pay has 5 sack maybe less. If i need a play in a big spot im looking to Buckner or Franklin on the defense to be the ones to do it. We havent had a good defensive end since Mathis retired. Whos been the best the guy we got from the Raiders for Rock ya sin two years ago? He was a journeyman obviously not a good fit if he led team in sacks and didnt get a deal to return. I'm a colts fan I want to it to work out. Just like I wanted everyone woman I loved I wanted them to be the last one but they aren't. You gotta see it for what it is cut ties and move on
Too much hype
We’ll find out in November. I think he’s real.
Well 4.32 isn’t official but yah AR also ran 4.38 in Florida so either way
Fast
Really fast - which is great when the pocket breaks down.
@@KentSterling KentI have been telling you for months….the RPO/R with AR keeping it will be an Integral part of our offense…..I am sure you heard what our OC said right…….talking about how JT can. Go one way AR the other….and wow what kind iof nightmare that will be for defenses…..this is not gonna be a pocket passer vertical passing game where AR and his legs are only used to scramble. And every time you talk and act like it is you are gonna look pretty stupid when AR is running the ball on designed runs all year long…..JUST as one of your COMMENTERS said……we know what YOU want….but it isnt happening. AR is not Patrick Mahomes. He is a bigger version of LAMARR Jackson….very similar to Cam Newton…….sure he will scramble….a lot……but he will be keeping the ball on runs….because there isnt many linebackers or safeties or DB’s that even want to TRY To tackle him…….he got pulled down from behind and rolled up on…..that shit can happen to anyone……..the colts will NOT eliminate more than 40% of his skill set just because of one random injury…..if you play this game long enough, (and teh colts should know this very well) you are gonna have injuries. Lots of them…..and even season Enders……is what it is. There are HOT new QBs coming out every year…….if AR goes down we draft another one……I mean really….we havent won shit in 8 years…..I mean whats the big deal? You play to win. And if it doesnt work out, you go find someone new else…..just like AD said right….(you like AD right?) I mean I am a wide out…..I am either explosive or they will go find someone else who is……..same with AR……..he doesnt belong wrapped in a bubble any more than our right guard….or kicker…….it is what it is…..go out with gusto and play the game hard. And use every ounce of skill. You have. It’s a big boy game. Not for players that stop chasing a fly ball because they ran into a fence once.
AD looks silky smooth…..great fucking hands…….deep speed…..hopefully, his work ethic and motivation (daughter, and 10 wr’s before him)……..I mean with AR, throwing him the ball…….I hope he matures with his effort, on all plays etc……Kent he was a 4.34.
That is correct.
With AR throwing him the ball…….he may…….just need to……get a reservation on……the kidney replacement list.
Hospital balls are still a concern.
@@basilfawlty241 Gardner Minshew led the team in that category last year. Sorry bruh.
