I bought these BS283 speakers a couple of weeks ago to upgrade my system and I have to say these are awesome speakers. I've played everything from rock, jazz, classical and everything in between with my Duel turntable and these speakers deliver. I use an ARCAM AS20 integrated amp that seems to hit the sweet spot for me. I originally tried a Rotel A12 MKii and a A14 MKii but they got pretty warm so I went with the ARCAM as these aren't the most efficient speakers - 4 ohms, eff 85db - so they need a amp that can get best out of these speakers. But it's worth it. Don't need the tone controls or a subwoofer as these babies sound amazing just like they are. I wired them up and popped their cherry with some Sade and WOW! I got a chubby listening to her sing "Paradise". The bass, mids and highs were all there to enjoy. Once you listen to these you'll get over the sticker shock. They are pricey but they are also amazing to listen to. You only go around once in life so might as well enjoy the ride. FYI - these speakers don't come with speaker grills/covers but they are available from Elac for $70.00. They look great.
I would go brx personally, but only because I'm not a massive fan of bass and the elacs do go low in the bass frequency, I had to add sound absorption feet to the elacs to reduce the bass slightly I did not with the brx's, it all depends on if you want all that bass , the mids and highs on both speakers are very detailed and precise with those ribbon teeters , but gun to head brx for me
Theres also a couple of nice Centres for these. CC281 or the 401.2. I’d be skint after getting those 283’s and a great centre, so I’d need to scrimp on the surrounds for a 5.1 system.😂

What do you think of these compared to the Elac Carina
Another great review, you really liked this Solono and you really liked the BRX! Which would you choose for two channel listening? Thanks

@@FatpigeonAudioReviews Great to hear that! I had already bought the BRX`s and was hoping I didn`t make a mistake. Thanks for your honesty!
Hi,thanks for the review!!!Since you also had the Goldenear BRX,which in your opinion is better? Thanks!!!
The brx would be the winner for me , more refined with a more controlled low end
@@FatpigeonAudioReviews thank you so much!!!

Hi, thanks for the review! Did you have a chance to compare them to the Elac Vela? Supposed to be the next step up in the ribbon range.
Hi Sir, great review, what speaker has stronger punchier bass, theese elacs or the fyne audio f1-8 ?
Hey, man, dial it down a little !
You cry your comment way too loud and aggressive to my taste.
Hmm, yea.
You should try the Elac Carina! They sound better and are cheaper!
They don't sound better.
@Just Audio said these are better than Carina AND better than the Vela!
