This is stuff I want in my recommended
You should watch le mans 1956 in some D-Type. Very nice video
Same
You don't get to choose, same with fb. Can't wait for a decent platform to come along
Seconded.
I can't believe that in 1977 onboard cams existet
it existed decades before that
Yes but bulky , but most of the pioneering work that led to workerble usage of onboard cameras took place in the 70's and 80's , in F1 and Le'mans usually during practice , think the first race that used in car cameras during a full race was Bathurst in its 1000 race , I think they even equaled out the disadvantages of the waight being a camera car by installing balast in every none Camera car , but for sure way before F1 went to cameras in every car Bathurst was running full incar in every car has early has the mid 80's I think , I remember the first Bathurst 1000 I saw on UK TV on world of sport and was blown away , that they used incar shots , ever two way radio with the commentary box , the cameras could even pan 360 degrees it was great stuff even by modern standards .
Even 1956
There is stuff going way back into early car racing , but not really at race pace . Mostly demo runs .
u know we flew to the moon back in 1969 right?
lmao passing the Carrera's like they're Renault Twingos.
This should be named "Only Porsche's Le Mans". Oh!, by the way... The car overtaking the Porsches... Another Porsche! BEAUTIFUL!
FIAT cause Ferrari to drop out after 1973
MONEY to go to F-1
1964 being the Scuderia's last WC
Ferrari won Le Mans 9 times
1949 -1965
Beating FORD TWICE
Porsche did not get serious until 1968
Ferrari abstained
ACO/FIA Regs issues....3.0 liters..

Losing a years development..
Refusing Le Mans 1972..

lol overtaking 935s like they are slow ....BUT THEY ARENT !!!!
Yeah! Damn slow 935's in the way!!
936 340kmh and the carreras arround 270kmh
Good gravy the boost is violent. I saw this car at Rennsport and met Ickx. Cannot believe how small the wheels were. He was a real gentleman. Took photos, talked to my gal and I for 15 minutes. Signed stuff. So humble and sweet. Said it was his responsibility to return the favor to all of the fans of Motorsports. Pure class..
Finally, some good fkn news.
It took balls of steel to drive that bathtub!
@KoivuTheHab ? the cockpit looks kinda like a bathtub...
@KoivuTheHab woah... ok I just thought he compered it to a bathtub. I didn't know there was a car that was nicknamed bathtub.
Not everyone knows everything about old cars
pUrE IdIocY
very nice, you snob
@KoivuTheHab yet there is nothing wrong with saying "it looks like it"... don't take it so seriously. That makes you look like an asshole dude
@KoivuTheHab alright I'm done with wasting my time on you... just stop being such a jerk over someones opinion
@KoivuTheHab how would you know that ?
stop acting like a little child
42 years on and a Porsche engine still sounds similar if not the same!
This is a very valuable 1977 onboard video. The speed of Worksporsche 936 of Group 6 aiming for the overall victory is just unbeatable. The Porsche 911 Turbo in Group 4 and the 935 in Group 5 seem to stop! Moreover, there is only Porsche on the course!
10 year recommended thanks TH-cam! ×D
396 KM/H.
@TheBigHase it was Group C!
LMP1 didn't exist in that time
No , it was 360 km/h : www.supercars.net/blog/1977-porsche-93677/
TheBigHase Porsche 936
the `77 936 had just shy 520HP, not enough to go very fast.
@@derJackistweg ... but enough to die, if you made a mistake!
I truly miss the chicaneless Hunaudiéres. :/
The film was made on a french Beaulieu R16 semi-auto (16mm) onboard camera, with Angenieux lens, on June 9, 1977, in the 1st round on the Martini-Porsche 936-01 with driver Jürgen Barth. Ivo Bulanda, Porsche photographer and filmmaker was also there to direct the film "One lab of Le Mans".
Einfach nur geil. Da wäre ich gerne im Auto mitgefahren.
I wonder what kind of hidden gems TH-cam will recommend me in the next 10 years

Image driving it at night......IN THE RAIN!
As Wurz sayed. Driving 340 kph in the Night in the rain. Then you know why you earn that amount of momey.
Sehr schöne Historische Aufnahme, und gut erzählt!
Hat richtig spass gemacht das anzuschauen! Erinnert mich an den Film Steve McQueen -
"LE MANS", der ja ebenfalls von 1977 ist!
Issa nicht, einen Versuch hast du noch
Mfg
Honestly I love onboard footage like this where they show you the lines and how the course is, also what to expect! I wish more drivers would do this but I know the race teams cant do that cuz they dont want no competition watching what the do
What a thrill to watch. Thank you for gifting us this priceless footage. As many comment about great Olympic athletes, "they make it look so easy", when it's anything but.... so with driving this Porsche 936/77, Jurgen, Hurley, and Jacky gave a legendary run. I appreciated kartracer127's Alexander Wurtz quote on Le Mans racing 340 kph at night in the rain.....no more words are necessary.
Scary and wonderful
Wow! Thrilling!!! And this was 43 years ago!!! Whaaat?!?!?!
I could watch this for the whole 24 hours. :)
When the dashes turn into one line you"re are at 300kph
Nice one but actually at the parts were it looked like that it was a line with dashes next to it.
300km/h *****
The commentator is talking about drei-hunderd-fünftig or three-hundred-fifty kilometer per hour
@@naotemmosca lol thanks for the correction, I always get that wrong :)
@@electricpaisy6045 I'm speaking from personal experience :) I'll have to rewatch it :)
Man I had the little toy of this. Pull it back and watch it go on the kitchen floor. Very low, and very wide, but the fender graphics unforgettable.
Wish I could have seen racing here before they put in those chicanes.
Mee too
Ikr, I wish they would have at least one race without the chicanes and allow the race car's to go flat out :D
@@blanked3 I'd love to see a demo run at least. When they have a chance before the race weekend starts take a few classics that raced there in the past and unleash those monsters. I would pay to see that.
No shit! Chicanes are the dumbest things ever, makes racing more dangerous in my opinion
@@brandond5209 Because the cars reached 400 km/h/248,5 mph at the straights. If anything went wrong then, it would result in a massive crash. Remember Jo Gartner in the mid eighties. Gearbox failure... They could pick up the pieces of him and his car in the woods.
Boys drove sports cars....Legends drove LeMans Porsches......amazing video
He lost the back end at one stage but recovered quickly.
@ 2:42
Early on the throttle..
Richtig FETT!!!! Das ist Rennhistorie, vielen Dank fürs zeigen!!!!
Einfach wunderbar kommentiert
340km/h in 1977 at Le Mans. Not bad.
This old track layout is so much better than what we have now, especially the part from start to tertre rouge!
Damn! This car overtakes Porsche cars like I overtake bicycles and it looks so easy to drive. 👍
I beleive this view is from a Porsche.
Mega. Danke für dieses geile Aufnahme 😍
Overtaking 911s with such mad speed!? Crazy! Lovely video.
Racing was sooo much cooler back then!!
The most badass onboard footage ever
Fantastic.......nothing more to say!
Fantastic
When racecars and tracks were not designed to be fully safe, but to divide the men from the boys 💪
Le Mans c'est magique!! 😍
Wow that straight road of the hunaudieres is so fast
Basically the « S dunlop » was a straight line amazing
Track was very different
The camera is just on the perfect position
wahnsinn....klasse video....was ein top speed damals schon....super ...👍👍👍
When Le Mans was real!! Truly competition and gladiators on board...
Insane straight-aways..... does it ever end 🤤 🚗🚓🚑
TH-cam: hey I know it's 2019 and random but how would you like to watch this?
Are you realise why this happens?
Just amazing stuff.
rosemeyer78 ....das hast du schön gemacht DANKE . servus :-))
Geil die Gerade !
Hammer, da tritt das grosse Grinsen ein :)
This looks like so much fun, I want to have a go even though I will bin it straight into a wall and...
Yeah it'd be worth it
Amazing days!
very kool big straight line
I only see Porsches haha! I need more of these stuff in my recommended.

How much respect the racers had to eachother "now i have to slow down and let the porsche in front of me drive through the corner before i do the overtaking" -> nowadays u get flashed from behind and have to move asap lol
well this was not during the race.
@@eberbacher007 Ah, i see lol
This is stuff ! I want in my recommended. I cant believe that in 1977 onboard cams existet
What a time to have been alive.
So raw i am used to music and this gave me so much more awareness of whats happening. Its less actionfeel but alot more respect to the speed
that gopro at that time still better than my gopro rn :(
Actually, it would have been a large film camera. This makes it all the more remarkable because they had a definite impact on the weight and especially the aerodynamics.
Amazing, only wish the clip was available in better quality.
For 1977 this is insane quality
@@carloS-jy1fl Look at this footage from the Monaco GP 1962 and say that again th-cam.com/video/sCv-dIFGcd0/w-d-xo.html

LE MANS FANTASTIC MOTOR SHOW
My favourite track @ GT Sport, La Sarthe without chicanes. Less than 3 minutes on the Nissan R92CP. The first sector and Mulsanne are a bit different today.
New grid looks sick
I love how it‘s just a public road.
Love everything
And the real, the one and the unique ligne droite des Hunaudières.
The 936 just smoked those 934s and 935s.
well, it's 1 or 2 numbers bigger.
Awesome Sauce!!
1:50 That engine sound when car is braking, sounds like crowd whistling
Just normal turbo sound
just like an ordinary day on the autobahn
Super cool
Freaking awesone
This power wouuuuu.... 👍 i'm manceau that's so good...
Those Porsche still look the same 😉
1. Sehr gute Linie gefahren
2. Vier Gänge reichen völlig aus.
👍😂😂👍
Und ohne GoPro auch. Das machst das Video so mehr fantastisch. Das war die Zeit! / And without GoPro also.
that was racing
miss the times when ppl actually had balls
Thomas Bommer I think it’s good that he is driving because walking would be difficult with balls like coconuts
So current racing drivers are not ballsy?
ART
Letting her eat on the straight. 🏁
How can he talk so calm while driven that beast. He knows the track so well and knows exactly what the others could do. Wish you guys would understand him.
Have you ever considered that the narration could have been added afterwards?
Just learn german and you know what hes talking about :p
I don’t know what he’s saying...But he’s speaking my language!!!
Lovely❤️😍
Can remember reading a article in Motor Sport , Derek Bell said he could be doing 250MPH and 200 metres from Bend at end of straight ON THE BRAKES!!! and get down to 30mph!!. . Gods TEETH!!!
No ABS, no traction control, no paddle shift, no crazy downforce. Just real men driving real cars.
that was automobile sport !
Titan Mechanism truuuuuue
Crazy how nowadays we have street cars that meet EU 6d emissions and could do 400 km/h plus on this straight.
u gay?
Mgoblagulkablong makes me wonder what well have in another couple decades, maybe hybrids or electrics that are even faster
well why would you build a racecar, that can go 400 straight rather then make it better for the track. Those 400 Streetcars are still faster then the Le Mans cars of today in topspeed but I guess on the track an lmp1 is still faster than such a Hypercar. However we will see next year.
@@electricpaisy6045 That top speed stuff doesn't win races. LeMans is 24 hours straight max output and braking and cornering. The cars have to be somewhat efficient as well as there are limits to amounts of fuel in the car and total for the 24 hours. There are limits on everything to do with the race car in all series to keep speeds under control. There have always been "Hypercars", that is just the up to date terminology to call that class.
6 or more hours at max effort takes a toll on machines and that's what makes WEC cars, and drivers, soooooo special
