I’m sorry to hear that University was a little rough. It was interesting to hear a little bit about the gap between international school culture and local school culture. I’m from the U.S., so that’s something I’m not really familiar with. Would you mind doing an episode talking more about what international school life is like, and how it affected your social life and circle?

Audreyyy!! long time no see!! This video popped up in my feed haha. I haven't been to your classes in so long!!! I don't study uni in HK, but i definitely related to many of the points you said. Although I did study in a local school for primary school, I switched to an international school since I was 11, so I guess you would say I was also stuck in that small international school bubble growing up. I definitely felt the separation a lot in HK -- the local and international school kid culture (especially when I went to dance too actually??). Although I'm very introverted and shy myself (which also played a factor) but I never really felt like I could be myself because of the cultural barrier as well, such as difference in lifestyles or humour etc etc. I also got a lot of snarky remarks on my Cantonese -- not knowing slangs, comments on my pronunciation, also called gwai mui etc, (which had made me very not confident to the point I just stopped speaking at all when I was young... which is so sad because Cantonese is the first language I learned??? Only recently, talking to other HK people outside the circle I started to develop confidence again realising there wasn't anything wrong with the way I speak either.... )
In a strange way, this was a bit comforting for me to hear, since I always looked up to you in dance since going to ur classes in late 2019/2020? (wah its been so long..) I really wish a way to weave the two cultures together and everyone can be just... more accepting to each other !!! 💓

I went to hku too. Even tho I am local I studied in a band 3 local school. I also had similar experience. They just don’t like you because you are different from them.
