    GREAT video Brian and camera crew / Wifey. I destroyed my first one out of stupidity. Just did the maiden on my second one. Bought this for when the wind is stupid crazy and 90 degrees to the runway. It loves the wind, and will land at your feet. I have mine set at 12 minutes with a 3s 850 battery.. got to love it.

    At 3:32 when he goes into a spin into the ground in states that he “basically tip stalled” it. it did not tip stall he used the rudder stick and with differential instead of a regular rudder the differential stopped one motor and spooled the other one up to yaw the plane.but he used to much rudder input to completely stop one motor which put it into a spin if he used a little bit of rudder input one motor would spool up a little higher than the other and turn the airplane like using a regular rudder. If you slow down the video you can see one prop completely stopped and one spinning.

    Love this plane! Thinking of getting one and making a version with propeller props. Seems like the ultimate plane once those props get covered up to avoid scalping people when things go wrong.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Covers for the props? I think there was a bit of a typo in your comment...but I agree...prop guards might be a wise move for a newb ;)

      @@BrianPhillipsRC yes indeed that autocorrect makes my dyslexia seem like nothing lol 😂! Totally a typo. Yes prop guards would be ideal! When I fly my mini drone I sometimes worry I may scalp myself if I am not extra careful so I never fly around anyone. Differential Thrust is when one motor turns faster, and the other slower to induce yaw. This plane has differential thrust, but when I was getting confused about it at the beginning, I was at low to no throttle, where differential thrust isn't always setup to work...and I didn't know for sure (yet) - but now it's clear.

    Mr Phillips!? I’m so close now!!! Horizon sent me a new motherboard and everything is working ASIDE from the throttle now. The throttle is sending the plane backwards now. I tried reversing the throttle but that didn’t work correctly. I tired binding again a million times. The propeller’s are moving the wrong way.
    Do I just swap the sides of the propeller’s? They move so fast that I’m only 90% sure about what way they are each spinning…?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Three ways, and you need to figure out which one works, since I don't have enough information to tell you...
      1) Swap motors...left to right, right to left (This might not be possible)
      2) Swap any two of three wires going into each brushless motor (This might not be possible)
      3) IF props are mounted backward - flip them around (This might not be possible)
      I'm not 100% sure all the details of your situation, so keep in mind, one of these three should get you where you need to be, but I'm not privy to all the details.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is you battery fully charged???? This can cause the plane NOT to bind! Check, even if it's OVER-Charged, I wonder if this might be a problem.
      Have you gone WAAAAAY over to the other side of the room and tried??? Do that next! Sometimes that'll do the trick.
      Also, sometimes, when I have a troublesome binder - I'll BIND it to another Tx, then go back to the ONE I really want to bind it too.
      I realize these solutions might not be the trick for you, but sounds like you've tried all the usual suspects.

    Brian, I watched your video last night on the EC-1500 and I am having the same problem with the motor controllers. You describe in the video how you reset them to sync correctly but you did not finish your instructions. Turn plane off, high throttle on transmitter,turn plane on, this is where you stopped the instructions. What else? Your description of Wonkie is correct, My ec-1500 just does not fly right either, where it actually does things that scare me. Make you very tense to fly it. I also had the parachute guy like you use hang up on the door linkage but the chute came out and open. The plane did not want to fly very well. I had to keep power on when landing to get it from stalling but it still did about 3 foot of the ground. I did seem though you got it flying ok at the end... Thanks for any help you can give. Do you ever export your transmitter configuration files for a model once you get a plane flying correctly and let others use them. Thanks again

    the brushless HZ Delta Ray still is the best in this size category. We fly it meanwhile with powerful 2205 2300kv motors (500 Watt each). Brian, you had a lot of good videos of the original DR at that time.

      It's not anything I made up...I knew it HAD to be something already, but I just called it the "Cornhole"... thanks for understanding.

    Well if I hadn’t already an UMX Ultrix, I would still go with the smaller one.
    I don’t really see what’s the point of this plane, it’s the UMX with all the good stuff removed:
    Cheap, cheap batteries, pizza box for transport, take it everywhere, toss it like you want, ... At no point I thought it’s too small or under-powered.
    In the 200$ price range (not talking about acquiring those new batteries), there is so much better to do with your money.
    Sorry Horizon but UMX Ultrix is too good.
    Instead they should brought back the UMX Beast. (I know they cannot satisfy all the customers and I am a painful one).

      I'm bummed you feel this way, but I understand. You might have noticed I asked for a Carbon Z Ultrix - which would have skipped the middle step...and for shier insanity reasons, would be awesome, but I have to say, if you don't have the Ultrix UMX, and don't have "young" eyes...this plane will have a niche - people who want to fly the UMX but can't see the dang thing - LOL ;)
      Either way, I hop you get a chance to fly one some day. It is very fun, but you already know this if you have the UMX Ultrix.

      @@BrianPhillipsRC Thank you for taking the time to answer as always. :)
      Totally agree about how hard to see the UMX in a cloudy day, but now I enjoy it in small spaces and hover it around trees trunks.
      And for sure an «Opterra sized» Ultrix would be totaly insane, that would be something !
      I wish good luck for the 600mm, because the Ultrix is a great design for sure and it deserves success.

      you have a point . Had bought one to keep my ultrix hours up to date whilst my umx ultrix is being serviced for a bad motor . it suffers in portability (£200 plus yet your don’t get a carrying handle!) and battery choice which is very limited !

      I agree the cheap box/carry case is a real down grade but was happy to see a 600mm version for longer flight times FPV... and a smaller brown bag;-)

    Second thoughts...?
    Ma'an... why cant they make a 4s 1.1m version?
    Come on, you know i am right Brian.. the ultrix is the only airplane that you can throw like a Frisbee, then activate the throttle and it will just fly...
    Amazingly awesome plane
