Loudest Zoo Animal-Cincinnati Zoo

Gibbons are known for their vocal abilities. Male and female pairs duet to strengthen their bond and defend their territory. The largest of all gibbons, the siamang is also the loudest as its musical calls can be heard through dense rainforest foliage up to two miles away.

Thanks so much for uploading this! I love the sounds gibbons make, especially siamangs. And for zoo visitors like me, videos like this are so much more fun and interesting to watch than videos that are either narrated or have music soundtracks! I hope to be able to visit the Cincinnati Zoo soon to hear these siamangs in person!

LOVE these guys. Had a pair at the MN zoo. The female was SOOO loud at around 9:00 AM. The male would join in occasionally. If you zoomed in with your camera you could see their massive fangs; bit scary to see an ape with gigantic canines!
