There is no general rule to calculate the exact number of earth pits and size of earthing strip, but discharging of leakage current is certainly dependent on the cross section area of the material so for any equipment the earth strip size is calculated on the current to be carried by that strip.
First the leakage current to be carried is calculated and then size of the strip is determined.
For most of the electrical equipment like transformer, diesel generator set etc., the general concept is to have 4 number of earth pits. 2 no’s for body earthing with 2 separate strips with the pits shorted and 2 nos for Neutral with 2 separate strips with the pits shorted.
The Size of Neutral Earthing Strip should be capable to carry neutral current of that equipment.
The Size of Body Earthing should be capable to carry half of neutral Current.

Sir. Ur thought of sharing knowledge is awesome. I hope u r working in a facility management. I have a question about facility management. Why companies doesn't recruiting directly? I'm working in Bangalore. Here almost all of the companies is hiring maintenance technicians and supervisors through facility management services only. Because of this we are like contracted employees and doesn't get any benefits like persons who working in on-roll companies. The worst part here is the facility management companies eat 30% to 40% of our salary which is given by the company. Please answer me. Is facility management a necessary one and if so, in what means?. And my request is atleast u don't do these things to the workers under u.
Thanks for your valuable comment and i also worked through a facilities management company like u only not in direct role( I also came out due to no job satisfaction..presently engaged in other business).. Direct requirement is a additional burden to manage all the work force which the company don't want to do..
Don't worry brother..work hard, improve the subject knowledge and management skills..for the right candidate there is a high salaried jobs in this field..My friends like me started career like me but now they are earning more than 2 lakhs (age- 45 years to 50 years) with good position both in direct role and contract role. I have reached upto senior manager level and also had the opportunity to reach more higher levels..But my perception and job satisfaction like you differrs.
Here the world is full of competition and we have to run for success if we like to do.
Last one, i always give advise and encourage the engineers to develop the skill and done whatever the help i can do for their improvement.
Now in this channel also, i am sharing my knowledge and experience for my satisfaction(This channel will not earn money like others who are having million subscribers or views.)

Brother, it is based on your interest.. Both are good in salarywise if you have skill, but project people need to go site by site and learn many things (Erection and installation wise will get experience. But u cannot get experience in facilities maintenance where u can learn in team handling, how to run the site operation smoothly without downtime

Yes brother...Earthing and grounding are same which is required for safety of human and equipment to bypass the fault current to the earth..while neutral is return path of load current
