  • The problem is either the battery, the controller or the motor. Most often ITS THE BATTERY. BUT In the video I show you an easy way to diagnose the Hiboy S2 Pro and discover which part it is before you spend money taking it to a professional or trashing the scooter.

I'm getting an "E3" error with my Hiboy S2 and was wondering if you had any idea what this means. This guide is super helpful and it's clear you're knowledgeable, so I thought to ask.
The official hiboy website states that "E3 means the communication problem between the display and the controller, pls replace the display-controller cable (connection cable between display and controller) + display PCB + controller"
I assume this is a controller issue in this case, but would it just be the controller wire or everything about it? I haven't gotten the chance to try what you showed in the video, but I'm not sure how it'd work considering my scooter only shows an "e3" screen in general. Any help or advice would very very appreciated! I'm a broke college student who depends on my scooter to buy groceries and transport myself but I can't really afford to take it to a repairshop nor can I afford a new scooter so im kind of at a loss and stressed
Also to get to see the battery and have the hole where you feet should be, did you cut a hole in the rubber?

You're amazingly nice kind and helpful and smart Nick! Thank you so much for showing us those tips and tricks. At least now I have an idea what's wrong got a warranty they said I can ship it back and they would do it you think that's the best thing to do rather than tackling it myself they're going to do it for free but I'll take 10 days

Yeah I would let them do it for free since it's still under warranty 💪.

Mine turns on for half a second and then won’t turn back on. It’s a high boy S2 light.

First guess is the battery. Have you tested the voltage it's putting out?

I don't know what code #4 is but I can look into it when I have time. The easy fix would be to get a new controller

You didn’t test the motor at all. So you’re basically telling people to buy a battery even if they have a bad motor.

No, I was actually telling people it would likely be the battery or the controller. If the motor is the issue the scooter could still be turned on. If you scooter doesn't turn on that's not an issue with the motor. Let me know if that helps

So the scooter I’m working on power is on but does not function in terms of driving, so are we good to assume that it’s the motor?

@@nextlevelhealthfitnesst8767 yeah I think it would be safe to say that's the motor. BUT I will say this, I've had cheap razor scooters that will power on and not do anything because of the controller malfunctioning also. Hiboy is much more sophisticated than the razors I'm talking about (300 series) so I wouldn't think that would be the case. Also have you checked the Volts and Amperage of the battery?
