I've no idea!!...But...I do a lot of woodturning, cabinet/box making. It has crossed my mind I may be able to texture wood before finishing, or if I get hold of "old, small furniture items", I could perhaps remove the old varnish, polish etc., before the wood is recycled. My real problem is, that after retirement a couple of years ago, my head is just full of projects!...at the moment its wooden bottles with stoppers, I must do some spinning tops tomorrow, and I have a woman pressuring me for more Sparrow boxes. So watch this space!
I very much appropriate the information, a good overall test . I have a large pressure pot set up on wheels, it's fine for large jobs but not exactly handy. Cheers from Dumfries Scotland.
Glad it was helpful, if you have the pressure pot will you have a use for this? For those who don't know, a pressure pot system will produce much higher pressures and faster blasting. Thank you for watching and good luck with your blasting!
Useful info, I’m gonna have a stab at doing some gym equipment I plan to have powder coated. Local guy selling this kit for £10 unused and I can’t imagine it was expensive to begin with.
hello again, in my message below i forget to say that special sand for blasting gun cost +- 1€/kg and fine white table salt cost +- 0,3€/kg, so there is no photo if salt work well its beter to use that stuff, no. thank again for all you do for your spectator, Thierry ps: my specific use is for sandblasting door and window blue stone (Belgium stone) because all my stones are dust and no more smooth when i touch them!
Hi Thiery, the risk of using the wrong blast media is of contracting Silicosis, a lung disease that is incurable and a terrible way to die. Blasted sand will create almost pure silica dust and is deadly. Grits sold for blasting should have been tested to have a low silica content and produce low levels of silica dust and therefore safer to blast with. (Check with the seller) But the subject you are blasting can also create silica dust, sandstones and granites are particularly bad so use an extractor and wear a mask. Working outdoors is safer than inside. I use Sintered aluminium oxide, this is for deep blasting stone. I have no experience of using salt but I would not use anything not approved for blasting. Your English is way better than my French! Good luck Steve
@@thestonecraftingworkshop7490 I had no idea why not using sand. I thought that is ok about using it. Reading your comment made me understand why using sand is not an option. Better to be mentioned into the video description

fantastic video, would you reccomend this for blasting paint from a motorcycle engine? if so.... what would be the reccomended compressor specs? thanks in advance!
Hi Miguel, this would do the job, not sure about the best media as blasting metal is a bit out of my field. (possibly soda?) As to the compressor specs in general when blasting you need the biggest compressor you can get especially if you are going to do this a lot. My work compressor supplies 14cfm to a 200ltr reciever and is just enough for serious blasting. If this is a one off project a smaller home model will do it, you will have to be patient waiting for the comp to recharge frequently. Again get the biggest one you can afford. Best of luck!
Nice vid, lidl add shows that gun touch the surface thats is for the 4-5 various nozzle shapes for angles flat etc do you know what size sand is this in the bottles? Thanks!
Hi, I found the various nozzle shapes did not really work. I am not sure of the grit size as there is no info. It is very coarse, I would guess 40 grit. (Maybe ) Thanks for watching!
I do not know for certain but I can't see why not. I think it would depend on the grit size. I have used mine with 40/70 size alumina. I suggest you ask the supplier of the soda, they should have a good idea. Good luck!
Hi Alan, sounds like a small garage compressor would do you, the gun only runs at 6bar pressure so not too high. If you are just cleaning think about using a softer media (grit). The grit supplied with tool will wear away the steel. Also you might think about getting or building a small blast cabinet to contain the media otherwise the grit goes EVERYWHERE! Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Hello ,. good video I wonder could you help , 1 have a sandblaster gun pdsp 1000 d5 similar to yours I think, comes with 2 x 1 kg of aluminium oxide grit size 0.21-0.35 ( grit grade 40-60) (not what that actually means) I have a sip 200 litre airmate 3 hp compressor, I am in the process of doing up a mf 35 tractor. I was going to use this gun to take any rust off before painting, I don't think the 2 bottles would be enough, do you know what the best material would be to use, and I would probably need it in bags, some one mentioned crushed glass I think it was on eBay I'm in northern Ireland. Thank you
Hi Martin, not crushed glass. I would guess something like soda or crushed garnet, something expendable. you could try here: www.ebay.co.uk/str/Sand-Blasters?_trksid=p2047675.l2563 They may be able to advise you, this is nor really my field. Best of luck.
Hi, My understanding is this, Sand when used as a blasting media breaks down into a very fine dust that contains "free sillica" looks under the microscope like splinters. These are so sharp they lodge in the walls of the lungs and will cause silicosis. (a fatal disease). Proper blasting grits are less sharp don't contain free sillica's and pose a much lesser risk. Please don't scimp on this, and always wear a really good mask!
As long as you have a compressor that will provide enough air flow, and if you rigged up a collecting bay perhaps from plastic sheet and obtained the right sort of blast media I'm sure it would do the job. You will need to use a media that does not damage the metal of the frame, check with the suppliers.
Hi there. Can I please ask, where is best to buy a suitable replacement blast media for this particular gun. Have purchased one and want to blast my farm trailer but need to buy enough material to do the job. I shall be 'blasting' outside. Many Thanks
I have a large compressor with a 200 litre receiver and I think it generates about 14 cfm of air. the size you need will depend on the use you are going to put it to. in theory for blasting you need the biggest compressor you can afford and fit to your power supply, though this little blaster could be used on a much smaller compressor, especially if you are only doing small jobs
Wonderfull explaination, When you say 14 CFM it's for incoming air or restitution. I am looking for occasionaly restore some furniture or shutters. not matters if gear working non stop for no more 1 hours. looking also as compact as possible for little garage but really powerfull and fair price , any advice ?
I think this means it produces 14 cfm at the pump. I am not really an expert in buying compressors, as a general rule bigger is better. If you are simply short of space I do know that some makes mount the pump on top of a vertical standing receiver. This has a much smaller footprint. Might be worth looking at. Hope this helps
