Coleman Bridge Opening

The George P. Coleman Bridge is unique among bridges in that it is a double swing bridge, rather than being a drawbridge. It's located on the York River between Yorktown and Gloucester Beach and carries US 17 across the river. It is the largest such bridge in the US and the second largest in the world. Also it has a northbound toll.

Warships are tall. A fixed span would have a very steep grade.
