I love this game solo but didn't find the Grand Fair goals added much (other than the new animals, fields and tools). I just try to beat my own score every time and am still figuring out how to maximize the interplay between all the card types.
That's a great idea! The scoring can be a lot, and I may need to try this since I'm still trying to figure out the best way to use all of the cards. Thanks for the recommendation! 😃
Maybe I missed it but did you explain how the solo rules work? Are there multiple solo variants that you have tried? Which do you prefer; do you use a particular solo variant?
I didn't go into detail in the video, but basically you draw 4 objectives during setup and keep 3 to complete before game end. During each round, you choose 6 cards from at least 3 different card stacks and then add 8 more (2 from each). You shuffle these 14 cards and then have a choice of 3 each turn: You pick 1, discard 1, and the other remains out until the next round. If you check out the Grand Fair rulebook, it explains it a little more and can be used with the base game if you don't want to use objectives. I love how it works! Great decisions within a solo draft that works really well. Hope that helps! 😀
Great review of a great game!
Thank you! Great to hear you enjoy it, too! 🙂
I still need to play!
