  • See EMD and GE narrow gauge action as Aurizon 2800s and 4000s, and Pacific National 83s do battle with the grades on QR's Great Northern Railway in North Queensland - featuring Sellheim, Charters Towers, the Macrossan Bridge, Mingela and the busy mainline junction at Stuart.

Thankyou :-) They're planning to go even higher - studies underway into conventional double stacking on the Mt Isa line at the moment.

They finally picked up those phosphate wagons at Mingela eh? Any idea where that short rake at Charters came from? And that's great long shot of the trains snaking on/off the bridge at Macrossan - hadn't seen it from that angle before.

I'd say those wagons at Charters Towers have got issues like the Mingela wagons. I'm guessing they'll need a rescue at some point too. Got to admit, the Macrossan shot was just dumb luck, but I'll be keeping it in my playbook from now on :-)

They have been, the grain wagons were imported through Townsville and the cattle wagons came from Townsville. Mackay based locos and crews came and got them.
