  • Today I'm back with a new Sketchup speed build. I've finally found out what the terrain edit tool works like, so I thought it would be fun to make a mountain house.

    I am a graduate student in the architecture field. I would highly recommend you reach out to local architecture firms and ask if you could shadow for a day or get a tour. Bring a couple of your models with (photos). And ask if they could use someone to model and render their project part time.
    Could lead to even an internship at an early age.
    At the very least take a tour of a college architecture program nearby you and see if it interests you!

      @@cxmdencod180 you're still quite young. Starting off learning all the different modelling and drawing programs is really the only place to start at that age. Once you're older and have started a degree in Architecture, then it would be better to look for work experience or internships. Architecture firms are quite strict on what they require and in my experience, don't accept people who lack experience, skills or required education that are needed to be worth their time. Learning Sketchup, Revit, AutoCAD, 3DS Max, ArchiCAD are all good programs you can start off learning but you will still need the professional education as well because architecture isn't just about drawing buildings. There are much deeper thought processes involved in designing buildings rather than just making them look good.

      @@cxmdencod180 Personnaly as a kid i draw houses on Sketchup just for fun. Then first year at Uni, i actually learned how to really draw (with layers and that kind of stuff). They really teach you this slowly and normally the first year you are more experiencing with hand sketches and paintings etc. So yep just try to draw what you like and don t bother yourself with getting too complicated and deep in a programm, you will learn this properly in the studies. (PS: Learn also draw sketches by hand, thats even the most important in the first year).

The design are like these are considered as unqualifed since he did not designed any interior part, or the landscape. Even with the parts that are designed ( in this case exterior) he does not know any material or building technique . So he just puts some masses randomly to get a "nice looking house".

      Sgt Peppers you may sound like a dick head to some but you do have a valid point. I think the kid is still owed credit for his designing ability, he just hasn’t takin any classes/been taught any information on how to design the structure of a building and how the loads will transfer to the ground. He’s doing what i did when i was like 10. Google sketch up is great fun because it’s so easy to create shapes and extrude them, but if that’s all you know how to do, it’s about as easy as stacking legos creatively.

Since a project and design is usually driven by its context. Also you must get freehand drawings going. I do a basic model and then print it and use it as a back base where I draw my models with pens and colour. Computer renders don't give the unique effects that hand drawings give. Start sketching these sketchup designs in conceptual sketches and it will look amazing^^

    Wow ik this is an older video and this guy is now 22 not 16 but I really hope he goes into Architecture because he is very talented with sketch up and his design is very impressive. I just started using sketch up in my first year of Ferris State University’s architecture program and I wanted to see right away what interesting builds people have made, first thing I see is this and of course the creator is so young and talented. Wish you nothing but the best, very inspiring build too👍

    to be honest, I don't really believe anything called " speed build " It takes so much time, skills, and experience to have a good house design. Architect has a lot responsibility for their designs, thus, they need to make sure that every things on the design are passed by code and the owners' eyes. That means you want your windows, doors, walls, roof or stairs come with the right dimension and are put in the right place. It takes time. This is a cool video to get you interested in house designing tho.

      Duke Nguyen you are right, but he did also admit in the video that it took him 2 months sometimes to design

    • @tommykirk6629
      @tommykirk6629 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      What he meant by speed build is a time lapse of a build that he has been planning for a while to build, because in edited normal speed of this video would be many many hours long
