This is one of the most haunting and beautiful pieces I know of... A wierd & arty idea of 45 min. of (Radiophonic tripping) as I see it..."A very funny red" is a brilliant enunciation. At times "The dreams" zenit's into perfect tranquilizing timbre. As audiolemon mentioned: She created by looking for the ghost in the machines, letting out haunting, and sexy music. Delia D. had some vey peculiar sound knowledges and the patience of an angel. Thank you for putting up all this material.
Yeah, that was my first thought, too. No question, electronic music would not have been what it became without Ms. Derbyshire. One of the most important women--one of the most important *people*--in the history of music and so few people know her name.
she definetly did. She started DESIGNING music with electronics before synths where invented. She used to do all her music with tape, recording sound editing the tape cutting it as in film (very tedious work) changing pitch stretching and shortening the reproduction speed. She is unfortunately another woman which awesome innovation has been clouded by gender inequality through time. I love her.
If someone in my lifetime doesn't clip this, and make a beautiful song, I'm living in the wrong timeline.
One of my all time favorite pieces of radio.
She was a genius :)
she was.
I come back to this video a lot. It strikes a strong cord in me a way. Thank you.
Great story. Wonderful background sound. She was so far ahead her time.
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! I can't get enough of Delia.

This. Thank you.
My God this sounds like "Little Fluffy Clouds" by the Orb at times!
Or little fluffy clouds sounds like this at times😏
Magical track . Thanks for uploading.
Brain Eno created Ambient? I think he expanded upon it, however this woman probably created it!

Almark Experiments with tapes and electronic music go back as far as the 1920’s, check out Edgar Varèse, Ligheti, Stockhausen, Marinetti.
There are even earlier pioneers like Pierre Schaeffer
@@Flowmotion1000 this isn't surprising as back then avant-garde was just being developed.
i love it !
little fluffy clouds in the sky, they we're purple and red and yellow.
great!
repeated at 2:35 "And the sun shining through." Genius!
@Ian Smith haha you're right...i heard that song the other day
commenting to document myself as the first to identify that this was sampled by Underworld at the end of 'To Dream of Love'
The scariest thing was seeing her disappear
I'm sure they have a influence by her, considering they too are British.
Would anyone know of other artists whose work is similar to that of Derbyshire's?
Jennifer Wrede Lothar and the hand people. Silver Apples.
