Great video, thanks! Love your channel and the way you keep it real. Grew up in the Poconos reading hot rod and custom magazines and dreaming of California and now a California resident for 30 years and living the dream.
I love the old F series 1948-52. Sweet finds! The produce in CA is always a plus. We used to get ruby red grapefruit about the size of a football. You can eat them like an orange.
gmullins777 We’ll have a killer space in Chocolate field this year. We’ll post our space numbers closer to the swap and will make it an open spot for any viewers that want to stop and drop parts, get drinks, or just take a rest! Can’t wait! -Matt/ITG
Wow!!! Awesome trip. California native CAR NUT but have only been to Turlock once. Need to do it again while I can still get around. My son wants to do the Roadster Show so maybe next year. We're in No. California so a "roadtrip" would be fun. Looks like you hit some "perfect" weather. Turlock frequently happens during rain storms. Looks like they had lots of cool hardware there this year. Love those overhead bangers. That 32 was AWESOME !!!
Hey Bob, yea it is a great weekend to do a road trip and hit a bunch of old car events! I have heard the weather can be iffy, but we would have had fun regardless! Thanks for watching and maybe we'll see you next year! -Matt/ITG
Wow guys, living the dream, how in the world do you choose what to buy knowing that the Pile keeps getting higher and higher? haha Thanks for taking us along for the ride.. I like the California breakfast, can't wait to see more....
Hey MATT AND MIKE WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT I WATCH YOUR VIDEO'S ALL THE TIME ON MY T.V. I CAN GIVE YOU A THUMBS UP BUT I CAN'T LEAVE A MESSAGE. I M 72 AND I LOVE OLD SCHOOL STUFF. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK YOU GUYS GIVE ME INCENTIVE TO GET MY ASS IN GEAR BEFORE I CROOK. LOL THANKS AGAIN MATT AND MIKE
Matt tell Jason and Mike no ice cream for them if they continue that behavior ( LOL ! ) Next year I would like to tag along we can rent a Suburban they hold more parts. Looks like you had a great trip
Gerry Milidantri Haha that would have been a good punishment! We can do definitely do a meet up on Saturday at the swap if more people want to make it! -Matt/ITG
How did you know to go to all these places ? Was there like a brochure booth at the airport when you landed with a good looking blonde handing them out ? At Offenhauser saw at 4:36 the single plane dual runner manifold for a V6 ? 9:01 Jason looks Hollywood with those sunglasses on. Wherever you are it can't be that warm with the clothes you are wearing.
I’ve just been going to the area for the Grand National Roadster Show and I’m usually in tune with what’s going on that weekend. So many shops have open houses it’s hard to hit them all! -Matt/ITG
Matt great video really enjoyed seeing all the good cool stuff!!!!!! Just a FYI in the fall of Oct 2007 grab my black lab puppy. My brand new one ton dump truck my trailer..... Off to California I went to pick up an 1974 FJ cruiser Toyota ...... Did 6020 miles In 10 days round-trip by myself wild times driving 11 hours a day... some time you for get what you have done !!!!!!till some show you something. Hey every been to the salt flats for the races JUNKMANDO
Hey Samuel, we'd love to do a road trip like that. Some day! I've been to the dry lake in El Mirage. but never Bonneville. Hopefully one of these years soon. -Matt/ITG
Ok guys, buy the Chev camper. Then rent a U- haul trailer( enclosed ) to put all the goodies in an drive home. Oh yes did Matt get his shots an keep him on a short leash, lol
Hi Terry, We were really tempted to buy an old pickup truck and fill it up and drive back, but our schedules didn't allow for that this year! Thanks for watching! -Matt/ITG
hmm. Not a fan of lowriders. Don't see the point. Personally not a fan of chopped tops either, but that's from a practical standpoint, while some cars look great chopped, I'm a tall guy, they do not work for me. In fact, I'd like to reverse chop some, making the cab taller instead of shorter. I don't remember ever seeing that, I don't even know if it can be done. Actually lowriders at the low setting the way most park them don't do well for me either, I'm no longer young and gettiing out of something that low is a problem. Trucks that are lowered and /or set on car frames make little sense to me either, not if you want to haul anything much, but I do like Rancheros and El Caminos, go figure, but then you don't expect them to haul much. I'm a bigger fan of resto=mods, ones that look stock as hell, but have more modern brakes, and an kick ass engine, but without electronics. Electronics are so prone to failure, I don't see why anyone would want them.
The nice thing about custom cars is that we can all make them what we want them to be. I don’t think it’s fair to make a blanket statement about a style or type of custom car just because you can’t fit in it or don’t want to bend down to get in. I appreciate most all custom cars that are well done. A low rider is about crazy as it gets for the passion that goes into building them and the level of the quality of work. Feel free to raise the roof on a car, it’s your world and your car! -Matt/ITG
@@RichieCat4223 OH yeah, I recall Big Daddy Roth and Barris. I'm saying anything but what I like and don't like. Everybody else will have different opinions. I've seen some lowriders that were amazing, with paint that was so intricate... but still I see no reason to set it on the ground, hop it or all that, just not my scene. Then you have the guys that jack stuff up so high they're practically not drivable, not at speed anyway, they'd roll in a heartbeat. Me, I'd rather it look nice but plain, but blow your doors off when it's time to go. Heck, I'd like one of those 250 HP VW bugs! I had a buddy that was stationed in Germany back in the 70's. He had his Firebird brought over... he was doing 120 on the Autobahn and got passed like he was standing still by a VW bug. I'd like to be the guy in the bug, not the thunderchicken. If I could make it happen, I'd find a nice stock Mom mobile, then stick a huge blown V8 in the back, but make it look as much as possible like it was still a minivan MomMobile. Could you imagine the face of some guy that has his hot rod blown away by a Mom mobile? That would be fun. A guy that ran around my home town had a Mustang that had super wide tires on the back with ladder bars, and a prostock style hood on it. everyone thought it was one badass mustang. I caught im with the hood up one night... it had a stock straight six in it. I guess that's the opposite way to go. Then there was one made the magazines, a Chevette of all things. Big meats out back with traction bars, wheelie bars, the driver's seat was moved to the back, there's a big ass blower sticking out of the hood... but under the fake blower was that stock little four banger.
Great video, thanks! Love your channel and the way you keep it real. Grew up in the Poconos reading hot rod and custom magazines and dreaming of California and now a California resident for 30 years and living the dream.
Thanks watching Ray, you can definitely appreciate the long cold winters being from the Poconos! -Matt/ITG
8:14 You mean some pretty nice Classic Tires! :) Firestone Deluxe Champion, very fancy indeed.

Hey Donald, yea man we were loving the produce and the food in general, such a great time. Thanks for watching! -Matt/ITG
Before I retired I did a lot of business in CA. That state is nirvana for Car Guy's !
Looks like a lot of fun!
I’m so jealous...deadly road trip. Can’t wait to drive to Hersey in oct.

Loe that 59 Olds!
Great Video! That 5 window looked really solid. Bet the asking price was steep? More please!
Hey Eric, Yea I think it was in the 45k range for it. Really neat car, but a little steep for us haha. -Matt/ITG

You forget, hot rodding is rolling art work, to each their own. Remember Ed Roth and George Barris ?

@@IronTrapGarage I agree, just as long as we are not talking about donks, stance, or squated trucks. Some of the modern trends are stupid.
