  • Somewhere along Thailand's southern west coast, nestled on the shores of the Andaman Sea, is the tranquil town of Thai Meuang (ท้ายเหมือง). With a population of just over 7,312 souls residing in 1,806 households, this quaint community, somewhat hidden from the main road, boasts a picturesque and secluded sandy beach known as Saai Thalay Thai Meuang (ทรายทะเลท้ายเหมือง). It's a place where time seems to stand still, offering a serene escape from the bustle of modern life. It is known for its pristine white sandy beaches and clear blue sea. Located within the Khao Lampi (เขาลำปี) - Hahdt Thai Meuang (หาดท้ายเหมือง) National Park, this beach is renowned as a nesting site for sea turtles, and where traditional conservation events are held, including the release of baby turtles back into the sea at specific times of the year. Additionally, the park rangers tasked with safeguarding the nesting ground and the baby turtles every night, in order to prevent hunters and wild animals from capturing them. The beachside promenade features a large statue of some Hawksbill Sea Turtles swimming out into the sea, leaving their eggs behind on the beach, conveying the message of the beach's significance. The Hawksbill Sea Turtle, scientifically designated as Eretmochelys imbricata, is a critically endangered species of sea turtle. This turtle derives its common name from its sharply hooked, beak-like mouth and is distinguished by its elongated, tapered head, and flippers that have two noticeable claws. Its carapace has serrated margins.
