Hard work can pay off!! Let's hope the building boom 💥 keeps going.Got a feeling this young man would be OK even if things slow down!! Great too see successful people's stories. Thanks 😊.
I'm not a dirt guy but I was looking to get into it a couple of years ago. When I was doing my research I twice came across an idea about this business that I don't hear very much, especially in smaller outfits like this. Instead of calculating materials and hours, basing their bids on cubic yard moved period. Basically, the bid calculated how much material had to be moved. If you had to move the same material twice or three times for logistic's sake, then you multiplied that amount the 2 or 3 times. Anytime you had to move it, that was calculated in. IF there was the possibility of other issues, like hitting bedrock or major utilities, that was added to the bid at a cost-plus basis. This was in a recent book on the excavation business and one of the most successful homegrown dirt moving businesses around here used this approach. When I asked the owner why he did this, he said it was a more accurate consistent way to bid rather than "guessing" on hours. He said it only took a few jobs to get an accurate cost per cubic yard for his calculations and over time he kept updating that calculation and it never let him down. This particular company was based out of his home for twenty years, but now has its own shop with full-time mechanic(s) and only runs paid for Caterpillar equipment. No debt, he must be doing something right.
I have been mowing lawns for about 5 years and I'm still using a lot of my original equipment and this video kind of reminded me that to just keep on working towards whatever you want or need.
Stan is a mentor and I could tell by his personality i had to subscribe !! I wish him and his sister and brothers nothing but the best!!! Go get that 5mill

Stay safe and warm out there pal, & God Bless! 👍

You’re an inspiration Stanley… and true team player 👏bravo
