In the opening of your beautiful video I noticed you said down here in Alaska in well I need to tell you we are not down here from anything we are up here from everything LOL
Born and bred in Alaska....much respect to you for asking the locals if they want your excess. Good job brother! Hope you can come to our capitol ( Juneau Alaska) thatd be awesome
Nice! I briefly spoke to you one time at the creek I was the one using braid on my pin. You can see me (hardly) in grey on the right side pin fishing also at 7:47. It was good to see someone else pin fishing on the creek because im one of the very few locals who centerpin fish and people always tell me im using my fly reel wrong lol! Anyways, sick video and hope you come back!
Can you explain your set up? I run a basspro rt3 10’ 6” 1-6 lb for rainbows and a lamiglas redline 12’ for salmon, both equipped with okuma aventa 1002’s and a Abec-7 bearing upgrade. I hammer the silvers with soft beads and have been doing it for years, I first started bead fishing on trout than it evolved into salmon fishing.
Valdez is the place to be if you like getting COHO salmon. I'm a born and raised fairbankser but I fish all over. I personally pulled 18 silvers over 4 days, and the next weekend my buddy and I did a quick little turn and burn over the weekend and I caught 11, and that's after commercial fishing opened that week and decimated their remaining numbers. HMU if you make it back up here some time. I'd also recommend you check out Sheefish if you ever can. Now THOSE guys fight
I just got back to Michigan from Alaska! Was fishing Willow Creek for cohos but ended up catching a bunch of pinks. Same spinners but yellow instead of pink
Love this video, good info to pass along. Soo, why did you catch and release good eating salmon? I know a family that would love to have them. Oh, well. Do you know where that family can get the unwanted fish? They are new to Anchorage.
Good to see someone actually fishing the proper way and getting the fish to actually bite....keep up the good work and show the flossers/ snaggers how REAL fisherman do it
This is a centerpin setup, we use these a lot in the Mitten state to float fish for Salmon/Steelhead. It’s a much better fight and you have more natural drifts
Awesome video! From Anchorage, AK here and my first fishing rig is a pin. To all AK pin anglers please join "Centerpin Anglers of Alaska" FB group let's unite. :D
Bead fishing started here in Alaska years ago for trout and now has evolved into steelhead and salmon fishing. It’s always the tourists coming in with the flipping gear 😂
Coho. Bobber Down! Good job and great video Vin!! Keep after the fish my friend.

Bead fishing began in Alaska 30 years ago for trout and has evolved into steelhead/salmon over the years
Wide lense view! You caught them easily! When I fished Ship Creek there was a culvert next to the train bridge. Fun times

Hooked into an awesome king this year. He/She popped off but was about 25Lbs. When it popped off everyone gave a big sigh.
What is your setup? Looks nice.
What is your rod and cp reel set up?
What time of year did you go? I'm stopping by in Anchorage in July.
Nice Video! Great fishing
What weight fly rod were you using for the silvers? Is it what outfitters would recommend?
Its a centerpin. Not a fly.
8 weight min and a reel with good drag
I'm pretty sure that #5 spinner doesn't have a gold body. Although, I've been wrong before.
COHO- by the time you get back to MI things might just be getting started for Kings. Probably see you down at 6th street or the Rogue this fall.
Matt Stout can't wait!
I have a question is the bluefox effective when fishing in ship creek
Absolutely
Great video I’m excited to go down there
Let me guess did the huma made that creek?
Is this more up River or down river closer to the ocean?
close maybe a hlf mile at most very tidal very muddy
Great video friend
Pinks or chums are okay in the smoker you won't notice the difference
ok i guess fresh ocean pinks other than that u will def notice
@@zschow9259 definitely silver looking not zombie pinks
I’m about to move here I’m super excited to get some fishing in !
What tides are best for this system?
Incoming tide was the best for me, usually once it got to about 12'

Knight ISA I was very shocked when I saw how many people were flossing
@@VinTheFishingMan sunny days w low water can be hard to get them to bite , flossing is a skill same as any other fishing
Also Ship Creek people can be crazy
Nice video
Amazing!
Don't want to be too critical - but - why a fly outfit in obvious spin/baitcast situations?

They take a long bite because they're not eating it, bringing it to the bank, and burning it so the fish survive.

Some anglers in alaska I think they don’t know how to fish with beeds lol
The seasoned fisherman know what to do with beads, you must be only asking locals who occasionally fish every year and not all year 😂
Mud creek!
should be renamed that fer sure
vibrax..
What reel, check your dms... good vid
Float Dropp Okuma Sheffield
Vin The Fishing Man thank ya man
