Mahanati is a 2018 Indian bilingual biographical drama film written and directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Priyanka Dutt under the banners Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema. Filmed simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, with the latter titled Nadigaiyar Thilagam, the film is based on the life of Indian actress Savitri, which was played by Keerthy Suresh, while Dulquer Salmaan, in his Telugu debut, plays the role of Gemini Ganesan.

1. Although it’s kinda Women-centric films, other characters too had a impactful presence and depth.
2. How we view and understand Yesteryear stars as today’s youngsters- I seriously feel MadhuraVaani and Vijay Anthony act as our today’s generation children’s and youth proxies
3. The main protagonist is not shown like as if she has some supernatural aura from the beginning ( like in NTR BIOPIC and typical Telugu male-centric Masala films). She is flawed but still loved.
4. Dynamic arc (From Rags to Riches to Rags- Common women - Leading Lady - Goddess of Acting - Downfall
5. Every character song object has some hidden meaning.

According to me the best shot of the movie is in the scene where "Savitri garu comes to know about gemini's affair and when she leaves the room after hitting her ,even gemini follows Savitri garu ,but but but gemini touches the face of that affair girl (in a consoling way).That single gesture says the character of gemini Ganeshan .it doesn't mean he is bad ,it means he don't feel guilt for that.that's what is his character ani .go and check that shot once again

I bet everyone who is reading this comment would have experienced this in one or the other way.. in the same way, Director as the God showed her Ravana to make her realize that a person in the form of Ravana is going to hit her life..
Ravana is portrayed as lust in our epics. Also, he is a great devotee of Lord Shiva, great scholar, great veena player and powerful person who controlled all the gods. Still he falls behind other women even after getting married.. in the same way, Gemini Ganeshan taught Tamil to Savitri and he's the reason for her entry into movies, learning car rides etc. Still he fell for savitri even after having a wife. After marrying Savitri, he approaches Rekha's mother again...
So God literally wanted to warn her that she's going to hit a person like Ravana in her life...

Mahanati is one of the most technically brilliant movies till date in Tollywood, very few even come close.
A great portion of the credit has to go to Nag Ashwin , his genuine admiration for Savithri garu is so very evident on screen, apart from Nag Ashwin I would attribute a great deal to Dani-Sanchez Lopez, the DOP of the film, he was able to showcase Nag’s vision on screen. Also the production design of the movie is fantastic , the detailing in every shot is top notch.

@Thyview I think you forgot to mention about the impact of the beautiful background score. I believe the BGM has a very important role, particularly in this movie. It is this BGM that I think helps us connect to the characters at a personal level which is perhaps why this movie is such a big hit. This is something I realised while watching this movie recently.

The main reason for this huge success is that audience were able to connect and get driven through the emotions of the film..... But one thing to say Mickey J Meyer didn't get deserved appreciation for his brilliant work. His BGM has given life to keerthi's acting. Hope you might have given more detailing about music and bgm. It's just a comment don't take it in negative sense.

In the process of finishing the bottle, look at the camera, it goes up and up and falls down. Showing the rise and fall of her life! My most favourite shot in the whole film.
