Hey man, I just wanted to thank you because this was the video that motivated me to learn how to code a year and a half ago. I was 32 at the time, and 8 months later landed a junior dev job. I typed this question in the search and luckily your video was the first one. After watching it, my decision was made. So thank you so much!! And if anybody is reading this, just make the commitment cause it's definitely worth it!
I have just turned 49 and am learning to code. I had a career as a print finishing operator for 22 years and was always interested in computers from an early age. When I was at secondary school it was the BBC micro that was the only computer then the Spectrum at home lol. The internet was not born then either. It's only in the last few years I have been moving towards code. I was kind of into Digital marketing for a while which I ended up not really liking. I have learned html and css but currently working on Javascript which is proving more of a challenge. It is my goal to succeed this year and get to a reasonable standard. There is no point worrying about my age because there is absolutely zero I can do about that so I just keep moving forward.
I'm 50, working with the WAMP and MERN stacks. Hedging my bets: plan to begin freelance while looking for work. Have never heard of a 50 year-old junior web developer, but who knows? Good luck to you. I'd love to see how you do.
Thanks inspiring.. im 34 and a mum and want to get into this field.. i should have studied IT in Uni but life was different back then.. now it led me to what i truly like doing again..
I’m 39. I looked into this a few years back but here I am back at it!!! I subscribed and I’ll be watching more. I also ordered your blueprint. The 2nd one u put out.
I am turning 45 very soon. I just found coding is so interesting in this year. I don’t know anything about coding before. I wanna learning how to code to benefit my job. Your channel is great and I love your teaching and your story.
I'm 34....been a Software Testing engineer last 12 yrs ...right since I was 2 yrs into the career , I kept feeling that it's late to switch from QA to software development profile & with every passing year I tell myself ....it was not too late had I switched to dev profile last year but now it's late..:D... good thing is I kept studying every year & testing enterprise applications in so many years has helped understand various components of applications ..... hearing ur story is encouraging me....Nice to hear ur story....cheers.
34 yo here, hit rock bottom this year after typin' "is it worth learning to code at 34" ur video popped 1st, who knows maybe 2024 will be the year i always waited for. thanks for the vid man
Hi Travis, I really enjoy your insights in the Software Development field. I am 39 years old living in the UK, I'm about to finish my self-studying on Python. It was interested to watch one of your videos that you mention Python alongside with Aws and on top of these two what else would you recommend? Also am I too old to get into the Software Development field considering that I will still need to spend another 6 months Learning? Many thanks Well done
I started studying/learning Web development/programming online 4 years ago @ age 30. I just woke up one day wanting to go back to my teenage passion: computinkering. I still don't know how I managed to land a casual PHP programming job a year ago at my current workplace (I am still working FT in my 12-year-long Educator job), but the problem-solving on various projects is fascinating! Also, the Tech lead (who is the only programmer in the team) I work with is very helpful. I know JS is a requirement in most places, but I find myself drawn to C# and .NET for some reason. Anyway, I am looking forward to go FT in Web development next year! :)
Good stuff. But really on a base level of JS is required and most of that just understanding the DOM. And .NET and C# are great pursuits and C# was one of my top 2 recommendations for devs to learn this year (in a recent video). I use it at work currently and love it. Keep at it and hope you land that job and transition!
@@TravisMedia Oh, cool to know that! I mistakenly thought that Object-oriented JS was the minimum standard for FE Dev jobs. Maybe I should go for BE instead...>__< Thanks for the info!
Hey Travis, how are you..? I'm from Bangladesh. My mother language is Bangali so fluently speak in English is difficult for me. This is my main problem. Come to the point. I want to be a web developer and freelancer but i have no special person to teach me as a younger brother or teacher. Im already start learning with TH-cam. Start HTML and CSS for the first time from about 7 days ago. I'm 24 years old and now i'm working in a medicine shop. I have some family pressure also. I have a lot of free time in 2/3 month’s because my country is lock down for corona virus. This year i will complete my graduation. Then i have 6 month to 1 year free and than i should or have to take a job for life responsibility. So what say..? Can i learn web development..? It’s my dream. I love to use internet in hole days. Can you help me to learn web development please. God bless you my brother.
Hey Arnob, thanks for sharing and yes you can learn web dev for sure, especially in 6 months to a year if you stay focused. Are you looking for what to learn, like what skills? Or what path should you take ?
@@TravisMedia At first Thank you for replied me..and then oh yes I'm looking for what to learn, how to learn and what kind of skills suitable for me or which is the best for me..? I Don't know which path should i take.. This is very dangerous situation you know..? I hope you help me😏🥰
May I ask even you learned some code. It is important to consider that would you be hired by some company to get a stable career path or income? Or the scope of the coding is extremely wide and difficult so it takes unbearable efforts to learn in a continuous way?
Hi tarvis I love your content and I have a question for you please: I live in a country that does not rely heavily on technology. In fact, the closest company to my area is about 120 km away.so working remotly is my first choice to work as a web developer. But I heard that it deficelt to find a remotly job as your first job, And also it dosn't improve your skill that much,so what you think I have to do? thank you
