th-cam.com/video/J2S70oWywzA/w-d-xo.html (Through The Fire by Jaya) you should react to this one, this particular video shows Jaya's belting skills. Looking forward for your reaction ❤️
"Jaya is the first Filipino recording artist to chart in the US, as her debut single "If you Leave Me Now" peaked at 44 at the Billboard Hot 100 Chart"
No one is trying to sing this song, especially in a singing contest because of its difficulty. If you're going to commit suicide vocally, this song is the way to go. Hahahahaha! Thank you for reacting.
She almost not breathing on the last part but she sang it clear and beautiful, especially on the high note... It's a hard song to sing, maybe I died before I finished to sing this song...LOL😅🤣
It's easy to have flats in her singing style but she could get away with it beautifully. Jaya's mastery grows within you. This lady is a superb storyteller.
That song is super dynamic and technical that almost nobody wants to sing in any competition in our country. Its so hard to execute 😭 Never saw a cover for that song until now.
this made me cry. I miss the 90’s. I used to watch Jaya Ramsey on TV when i was very young. she hasn’t aged a bit. Holy shit. My sister used to be and still is a decent singer. she tried to cover Jaya's old tracks and she couldn't do it. Jaya is just one of a kind.
Finally. An on point reaction about jayas voice. I love her since day 1 she got big in the 🇵🇭. A lot of people don't like her way of singing and her tone. But if u listened to her hits back in the 90s. Ull see how good she really is. My sister and I were fans of her since. Her way of singing isn't the way Filipino do it. We were used to birit/belt that looks like it's so easy the way Regine does it. Whe she came in suddenly people rwaliae how and what soul singing looks like. Reason why we now have kz tandinganand Sarah G who performs like their possessd or something... I love Jaya.
My son really enjoys you two, not only because of the music reaction, but also because “you two are the old and the new testament”. He is only 7 years old but so much into music...piano and voice...
That being said, I loved this reaction. It’s funny how you guys didn’t note that this is the first solo performance of her as you have seen. Most of these reactor never point out that they have only seen her in collaborations, and I always wonder why. You really get a sense of what she can do by herself.
I actually credit her for Regine getting better at doing ad libs and harmonizing. It could be just me but I think Regine got better when Jaya joined their sunday show and they became really good friends. Jaya is musically talented.
I love it!❤❤ Jaya is the Queen of Soul in the Philippines for nothing. OMG! If you want more, please react to her another wish bus performance. Singing " Kasalanan ko ba". Its acrobatics!👍👌
All praises and respect for this remarkable musical artist who is already an icon in the Philippine music industry. Jaya is the one and only Asia's Queen of Soul.
The one and only Philippines' Queen of Soul. 👏 She's the first Filipino female singer to enter the Billboard Hot 100 on 1989 at #44 with her single "If You Leave Me Now"
Totally understand why you were surprised when she opened up better as she went up. Her heavy alto voice does give an impression she is more comfortable at low notes but Jaya actually loves dancing all over Chaka Khan territory. She has probably sung Through The Fire more times than she could care to remember. TH-cam has loads of Jaya's take on that song
Her name is pronounced "JAH-YAH" not Jey-Yah. Her stage name is inspired from her original Jamaican roots. I'm very much delighted to see that Jaya's finally being recognized the way she deservers. You see, here in th Ph even she's considered one of the royalties and even labeled as one of the Vocal Trinity along side Regine and Lani she still is heavily underrated. Fore me she truly is one RARE DIAMOND!
Ohh youre reacting to jaya?!!! Iam so glad about this. She has a unique voice and you can see the experience in her voice and performances. React to more of jaya please. Her duet with kz feeling good but in her 30th anniversary concert its so good!!
Jaya ....was popular first in USA 1989 ..Her first music top 100... feat. with STEVIE B.. song title IF YOU LEAVE ME NOW and SHADOW LOVE (1989)..Before she move to PHILIPPINES and starts her music journey...
What's next ...Kasalanan ko ba? Just a clinical performance of her amazing talent. Thank you for discovering Jaya, just watching her wish performance now after your reaction, amazing artist, watching you from Melbourne.
3 videos were uploaded in 24 hours ... hope it's always like this, I always love and enjoy watching your reaction videos🤗 as much as i love your intro🤩 and Thank You for always reacting Filipino Singers❤🇵🇭
I always remember how she surprised Filipinos when she step on her first Philippine TV performance thru Sometimes You Just Know for Metropop Music Festival . (See OPM MTV video copy for clearer version.)
I also think the tightness in the opening was intentional, or maybe it came out that way because of the emotions of the first few verses. The song reminds me of an aria revealing a character's thoughts, like in a monologue. In the beginning of the piece, the lyrics show some hesitation, even pain or regret. But as the song progresses the lyrics (and maybe the melody) express a more confident resolve to end whatever it was (maybe an illicit affair.. LOL) the singer (most likely female) is singing about.. True to the story, the song lyrics never go back to the first lines and the song stops almost abruptly. "Hanggang dito na lang" translates to "this is where it ends," but it's uttered with exasperation, and with the finality of the break-up line, "I'm done," in American colloquial English. (LOL... I actually have never heard this song before because I have been living outside of the Philippines for so long. But I do speak the language).
This is to be one of the hardest songs. Almost every line has small runs, until the end! She literally RUN for every line but she still sounded great and amazing!
One of her best songs 🔥🔥🔥 This is purely SOUL 🥺🥺🥺 I sung this once too my jaw was like dislocated all my bones hahhhahahaah😅 I just cant imagine how hard it was for her diahpragm and lungs to do that song👏👏
Nothing to add guys. Just to say: I love the "visceral" reaction. It rang authentic to me. Thank you for your song in the beginning too. A very nice treat.
On the same day that she preformed "Hanggang Dito Nalang", She also sang "Kasalanan Ko Ba". Please please react to her "Kasalanan Ko Ba" live on wish bus. ❤️❤️❤️
Your explanation of how Jaya sings made me realise how great she is. 🤯 I'm definitely listening to her other songs. P.S. Your intro song is lit as always. 👌
Fritzie Magpoc has her version of this. She sounds like Jaya. Please do react her best version of PROUD MARY on The Clash. She is a finalist of that singing competition.
We just LOVE Jaya's voice, she is so unbelievably talented and unique, what other videos of Jaya should we check out?

BEST SOUL SINGER IN THE PHIIPPINES, SO DIFFICULT TO COVER THAT SONG
BOW DOWN TO THE ASIA'S QUEEN OF SOUL!
Jaya's songs are so hard to sing because of the unexpected rollercoaster tones of her voice.
Jaya is an unbelievably talented singer at that. I've always liked her since day 1 way back 1997. Thanks for this amazing review.
That song is super dynamic and technical that almost nobody wants to sing in any competition in our country. Its so hard to execute 😭 Never saw a cover for that song until now.

. . . and that's the reason why she's considered as the Asia's Queen of Soul!!!

She is the only ONE in Asia that has that kind of voice. Amazing!!
Yes, Jaya is known as Asia's Queen of Soul. Truly a very talented and her voice is exceptional in the sense that her songs are hard to sing.
Loved your reaction seeing every part of Jaya's voice modulation, range and tonality in general. Appreciate your honest remarks.
My son really enjoys you two, not only because of the music reaction, but also because “you two are the old and the new testament”. He is only 7 years old but so much into music...piano and voice...

Love your duet song, Hit the Road Jack. Glad you featured her own song, "Hanggang Dito Na Lang" which became a popular TV series track.

This is to be one of the hardest songs. Almost every line has small runs, until the end! She literally RUN for every line but she still sounded great and amazing!
